Hey Sam, just as a precaution when doing time attack/track days, after you're done and letting car cool down in the pit, dont hold the brake or use e brake, get a block for the wheels. That way you aren't melting your brake pads to the rotors lol

Got some twisty roads near me and after them wouldn't dare park with ebrake up, the pressure from the ebrake can also cause the warm rotors to bend slightly and cause a wobble.
And also if your mags have plastic centre caps they can warp or melt too so take them off for track days.
While you at it use some foil tape on your wheel weights, the heat loosens the tape on them and they fall off usually hitting your lovely Brembo calipers on the way out!

Awesome mate. As someone who’s done a lot of racing I would just suggest a bit of driver training from an instructor that can sit in the car with you and instruct. You’ll improve majorly. Just by analysing your onboard footage you could easily shave off a few more seconds by later breaking, better lines, where your looking etc. keep it up bro 🤙

That gr yaris caught way more air than the other clip made it look like that was insane. Sam coming back to the pits and doing damage control reassuring may hes in no more danger than usual, explaining exactly what happened because he knew she was worried before hand was sweet

Crazy how that Yaris literally took off from such little contact. Makes you understand how some people flip in places where youd think theres nothing to flip on. Glad he didnt roll and good thing the S15 didnt take any more damage either. Interesting to see your drift car on grip setup tho but I think if the TME is fully rebuild youll enjoy that a lot more when it fully set up for grip as well.

Yepp, first time i drove track with my S15 i breaked to often and lost pretty much all stopping power. First tip before i got up on track was, break hard and short, no middle in between sunday driving or your going to loose your breaks..... and i drove to many laps, breaking to bad, in one of the hottest day in summer. Well, i didn't crash at least 👍😊

That S15 yeeted that Yaris. S15s are really light cars to be able to do that. I'm glad everyone walked away OK.
If you watch the video again. Keep an eye on the Black GTR. When the light signals them to Go. Both times, before the Yaris accident and the Restart of the race, the GTR fails to GO. That is why the S15 cut left to pass the GTR. Both times the S15 had to try to pass the GTR at the start.

I like drifting, but I like Time attack more.
In drifting people score you and you never know what they think of your run, but in Time attack you have to find the apex and beat your own time and others to do great. I find that more appealing.

Pretty shit a grip driving but more time it will come honestly you can drift so can catch the car when it breaks traction and use the whole track nice first go but brake issue is on you 🙈

Sam buddy pal friend. You let off so early on the straights. You can give it another second or so before you let off. Go hard on the brakes and power halfway through the turn. Common buddy, you can do it!
This is what I was thinking as well. It was his first time so I'll cut him some slack but, he also does high speed entries in his JZX at Ebisu lmao so maybe we shouldn't cut him any slack. The S15 is light enough to do some trail braking if he wants to enter faster and get on the power as soon as possible on that last corner before the main straight.
@@tylerisgray plus he has all that grip from the wider tires, he can take the turns faster. He has to get comfortable with grip and not sliding it. I’ll cut him some slack, this time. But he should do some toge runs in a grip setup. He’ll learn fast! Lol

im sure going from drifting to TA is difficult. but the advise i would give is you never downshift in the corner, select the gear you want to come out of the corner before you enter. and the string theory, that you have a string attached to your pedal and steering wheel. rev match and make smooth inputs. im not a professional by any means but these helped me. love you're trying new things, keep it up!

This episode was worth the sub to SAMMIT. It is by far the BEST video I watched in April of 2021, I only saw cars fly on 2 wheels in video games but not in a track IRL!!! OMG that was epic and shocking at the same time.

@@t00schw1fty9 everything I’ve seen w2w requires a license (at least here in usa) you make your way up through hpde then maybe enter time trials and show you can give room or safely pass other very fast cars then do racing school which teaches lines with multiple cars on track next to each other etc. I guess the crash shows what happens when you just allow anyone to race

Crazy video! I was cringing the whole time when you don't go down to 2nd in the slow corners, finally on the lap after the Yaris almost at an S15, you started driving that S15 of yours like a touge car and it reminded me so much of my old SR20VE (with SR16VE cams) days here in South Africa (watched A LOT of Best Motoring & Hot Version at the time), you have to bounce that throttle and keep the revs up with the SR20 for more track/touge/street style driving. The thing that holds most people back is the fear of losing grip and how to handle the loose rear/sliding car at speed, and we know you got that down! All in all, very nicely done Sammy!

Sam, after the main straight on the esses, you need to go flat out through it. Keeping the weight on the rear should keep you stable through them.

Your alignment looks way off for “grip” driving and more for drifting. Too much positive toe up front and too much positive camber in the rear. A proper set up would be much more stable and confidence inspiring for braking and cornering and of course definitely faster...
