    I haven't answered my door for anyone I don't know in 8 years. It's very liberating... On the extreme end you're risking your safety, and at the low end you're putting up with an unwanted sales pitch for something you probably don't want. If people stop answering their doors and/or buying from these solicitors, this antiquated practice will eventually go away. I DON'T BOTHER YOU AT YOUR HOME- DON'T BOTHER ME AT MINE.

    I have had this happen to me once. A sales person got pissed because I yelled no thanks through the door. He stood on my porch and cursed me out and walked away. I ran out of my back door after retrieving an item and caught up to him. I explained the importance of etiquette and respecting a mans home. He apologized and left with all dental work intact.

      Yeah, I had a whack job in my town put papers though my door for weeks, old files that had nothing to do with me. I heard my mail slot open on a Sunday ,when no mail comes, and knew it must be him. I raced down my stairs and down the sidewalk to confront him. I said I knew he did it. I told him I was making him go back to my doorstep and pick it up or I'd force him to. He walked back and picked dit up and left. Never heard form him again. I didn't hav time to grab a weapon. I may have put on some leather work gloves, though, as I often do. Good for throwing hands.

      I had a girl on a recorded call say she was coming to my house in 20 mins and was bringing her gang member friend to murder me. I shared w/ the police and they said "we dont respond to crimes before they happen" ... so yeah, you're on your own, don't expect to rely on police. (PS: 20 mins later, security cams caught them showing up! Showed that to police next day and they said "not breaking an entering because she'd been invited to the house before so they cant make an arrest")

      I knock doors and most people have those signs because they buy everything. And door knockers take rejection all day every day of the year. Do you really think they're gonna care when you get mad and say "Get a real job"? No, they're going to laugh because you really just got mad at someone you dont even know for doing their job.
      If you want to avoid conversation with a d2d salesperson, simply say "Oh I don't know anything I'm just the babysitter, the homeowner will be back next weekend." D2d salespeople get paid commission so we dont want to waste our money making time talking to babysitters.

    I had a salesman who spoke to my dad who left his number in the door. My dad never called him back. I’m 47. I take care of him at times doing housework as he’s 75. The following day or two days later the salesman comes back. I spoke to him through a window. I told him we weren’t interested. He asked if he could speak to my father. Again I’m telling the guy “Not interested.” The salesman replies “Interested in what?” I said, “Leave!” He still stands there looking. I raised my hand to his face saying “Leave! Get outta here!” He finally walks down the stairs in low voice saying he tried. I hated being like that, but dang.

    I had something similar happen to me. The guy was walking around selling house paintings (like paint your house). He came to the door and I saw him thru the window and said no thanks. He freaked out and took all his fliers and tossed them at my front window. I picked one of them up and called his company ASAP. Craziest thing I've ever seen from one.

    Years ago when I was young and dumb, an AA young man came knocking at my apt door trying to sell me magazines. This was years before anyone had PC’s of course! I opened the door and he showed me various magazines, one of which was an auto magazine I knew my husband would like. The price was $20.00 for an entire year. I went to get my checkbook but he said he could only take cash 💰. Red flag right? Anyway, I handed him the cash and I never received anything but he did, he pocketed the $20.00 but, I learned a valuable lesson and never fell for that scam again!! 😐

    I let a kid in to demo what his vacuum/ washer could do, was actually semi interested, and he put soap (bubbly kind) and went over my hardwood floors leaving suds everywhere! I told him no no this is bad, you gotta clean that up, and he started getting mad at me. Thankfully his boss (driver as well) showed up to help close the deal, and I showed him what was done. He told the kid he used the wrong product on my hardwood floors and he needed to clean it all immediately. Kid started yelling and screaming at his boss and got fired on the spot. I kicked em both out and spent the night doing my floors. Now I will never let a salesman into my house ever again. No matter what it is.

I then received a "bill" for what looked like some organization loosely involving the subject matter of the proposition I signed...but with this added subscription to a magazine that was never mentioned originally. The invoice was meant to look really official, as if I would receive some penalty for not paying it. It was just a scam basically(so it would be more accurate to say that they tried to rip me off), their whole spiel was made up with a bunch of legal jargon to make it look legit. I never trusted door to door salespeople after that experience.

I once got a call from my former college asking if I wanted to sign up for more classes and my first thought was "they're probably trying to scam me" turns out they really were just trying to get me into more classes (even though i wasn't going back and told them that immediately yet they continued) but I thought they were a scammer and treated them as such.
      I don't sign up for ANYTHING unless I know 100% I can trust it, and even then I'm very hesitant.

    I know about that organization because they were a problem in my neighborhood for a few years. They are trying to sell magazines because if they sell enough of them they can go to Cancún. They are very aggressive and when you say “no” will insult you. This guy got it worse than I did. The girl just called me a “freak” after I refused numerous times.

    That really stinks that people act this way! I own a small carpet cleaning business, and when times get slow, this is my go to for advertising. Able to meet people in person, and show them what products I sell! It’s unfortunate that people are so pushy and hostile like this. If the homeowner is not interested, just walk away… no need to make people uncomfortable

They get a group of kids together make them go these neighborhoods and try to force people to give them money. Yes everything is online why would I hand you cash or give you my credit card. People are crazy.

      Homeless people get desperate..WITH GOOD CAUSE. They have NOTHING and to them YOU have EVERYTHING. PLUS, many are mentally and socially challenged. Just give them something. THEY ARE EXTREMELY GRATEFUL FOR JUST $1.00. Be KIND people!

    if you post a sign on your door, "No Soliciting, No Exceptions" anyone knocking becomes a trespasser. only legal exception would be Police with a warrant.

    I pulled into my garage one day and as I was walking in the house a guy comes walking up my driveway saying he worked for a "security system company", he asked what type of system I had, I told him it was none of his business, he then asked who my system was with and I again told him it was none of his business and told him to leave, he kept running his mouth and I told him to leave a second time and he responded "Really?" to which I said get the f%&* off my property and I closed my garage door and notified the local police.

      I had the same thing happen to me...guy knocks on door, we'll install security system free (yeah, right) blah, blah, blah. Told him no. He kept yacking, I shut door. 4 days later he comes back to my house, husband answered door & told him to Get Lost & Do not come back!

      Was working on my garage framing, hot weather, just dying out there. The guys with the freezer in the truck bed selling steak came driving up. I’m always friendly to strangers but after a few too many questions I flipped out on the yappy one, got loud. I don’t fault anybody for working but if I tell you “no” then we’re finished.

    Clearly, these are NOT salespeople. They are professional criminals going door-to-door casing homes. Lets be real here.
