To be honest, if you know the hood has to be attached to a button and you attach a loop to secure the hood, WHY wouldn't you place a button on the inside of the gown. I chose the clothes I want to wear that day over six months ago. There is nothing on the front to attach that loop to. So, because there was no foresight on the part of Herff Jones to place a button for the provided loop, I have to rethink my choice of clothing! And I PAID for this!! Not real sure how this qualifies as good business. It's a button!!!!!!

You’re not wrong about the business issue... But sewing on a button is insanely easy. If we’re graduating and educated… we can pick up a tiny damn button from the craft store and sew it on ourselves! It’s not rocket science lol 😅😂 don’t let the customer service obsession in America eat you up. Just sew on a button. No one would see it. You can even use a black matte safety pin, whatever. That’s quick. Be proud of your own resourcefulness. And wear the outfit you wanted! :)

Why do these not come with a button to secure your hood in the front

If you put a button on the gown, it is such lightweight material that the hood will pull the gown upwards into the neck in an awkward fashion. So it is for the best to use the loop on your actual clothing underneath.
Cmon y'all, you have a master's degree now! Lol

The dimensions of the mortarboard are 9.25" x 9.25". Hope this helps! 🎓
