Amjad Ali Khan- Sarod Sandeep Das-Tabla Vineet Vyas- Tabla T. H. Subhash Chandran- Ghatam January 28, 2005 Sirifort Auditorium, New Delhi Tribute to M. S. Subbulakshmi Raga Hanswadhwani Raga Rageshwari
India has greatest classical Hindustani musicians in world n is admired all over world which is one of the richest tradition n culture of Indian civilisation Such music is spice of life
I was out of world for some moment . It is the devagana and Ali Khan himself gana Gandharva. No one play such music other than those who are blessed by maa saraswati. That is why he is so humblhe and pious. Iam blessed to listen to such music . Thank you so much khan Saheb.
The drum on the right is called a "Ghatam". It's primarily used in the South of India in the "Carnatic" music tradition. It is nothing more than a clay pot tapered to the opening with a slightly raised rim. The clay has metal filings and other secret ingredients mixed in to give it strength and extra resonance. Like tabla, there are "bols" that are learned to produce all the different sounds on it. Fun to play too ! ! !
You Indian guys have a right to be proud of of your music and instruments. It is so sensual and spiritual and rhythmic. It really expresses human emotion. Greets to all from Australia.
+atrothe I am a Bangalee but not Indian This is Great Indian Tradition of several hundred years. No where in the world , you will find such devotion His father OSTAD Hafiz Ali Khan was also a great maestro His two sons are gonna to be so
It just simply smashes the sound of a western guitar... when I hear this it just makes me feel I should put the guitar aside and catch hold of one of these beauties ! It sounds so powerful and deep ! Besides that you can't stop watching the screen because these masters are so playful humorous and geniuses !!! pure silence and they become just the music they play !... too graceful !!! Yes !!!
I am a devotee of Ustaad Amjad ali saheb for over 50 years and I devotedly am grateful to LORD VIGNESHWARA, MAATE SARASWATI FOR GING ME FACULTY TO LISTEN TO THESE DIVINE STRINGS THROUGH WHICH AMJAD JI SPEAKS TO GODS AND GODDESSES. His tribute to MSS is with Bhakti. It is straightforward and pure music. Gratitude to those who have uploaded this- Dr. PV.JOIS
its a magical moment that i will keep in my heart for every moment. music that gives me enlightment in my life and when it is ustadji it has nothing to say except expressing greatfulness to this great soul
Celestial so inspiring and soul touching that Maestro Ustad Amajad Ali Khan a symbol of goddess Sarswoti can perform in absolute fusion with another master playing Ghatam. God bless them

Top Class performance by Amjad Ali Khan saheb. Thanks for upload. Regards. Khalid Asghar, former Controller- Station Director, Radio Pakistan, Lahore. In addition- Composer and skilled ghazal singer, available on CZcams. 14 January 2021.
its not their nails that they file, it's the calluses that build up on the tips of their fingers. the thickness of the callus changes the sense of touch, so when engaging in faster movements, they are trimmed down to enhance accuracy and sound.
When I hear directly from youtube sometimes there is a break in the name of buffering. This discontinuity while listening to music will be really disappointing. Please fix this problem
You should be more specific but the instruments are as follows. The guitar/banjo type instrument is called the sarod (sometimes spelt sarode in English). The pairs of drums are called tabla and are the most important accompanying instrument in both Hindustani (North India) and Carnatic (South India) classical music. Strictly speaking only the smaller of the two is actually a tabla but they are usually referred to as a pair. They are also played as a solo instrument occasionally, especially by the most respected players. The one that looks like an earthenware jug (which is exactly what it is) is a ghatam.
Joshua Rosen While most of your information is fairly accurate, Id have to correct you slightly on the bit about the the tabla featuring in Carnatic music. This is definitely not the case. Serious practitioners of Carnatic music have never included the tabla in their recitals as this position belongs almost exclusively to the mridangam followed by the ghatam. The mridangam is a whole different animal with its own repertoire/syllables/mathematics and other percussions which may feature along with it are the ghatam (which I mentioned), the thaavil and the moorsing. Secondly, all tabla players (respected or otherwise) perform as soloists. It is not an honour reserved for only the most established. This the way the instrument is taught, The skills for accompaniment with vocalists or instrumentalists are honed after the basic soloing skills are perfected. This is a flawed method but beyond the scope of this argument. So if you look around youtube, tabla solos of varying quality are performed by a wide gamut of performers and in some case lower ranked musicians often end up playing better stuff than their more established brethren!
Krishnaroop Chakrabarty Thank you for that additional information. I am interested in Hindustani classical music but only have an amateur level of knowledge. I don't know anything like as much about Carnatic music so thank you for clarifying that.

I've never heard of a ghatam. Technically, in the global sense, it's known more as the udu, which is the Igbo (Nigerian people) word for vessel.
Basanter kokil bankim chandra chattopadhyaya

Raga
Hamsadhwani
How does the tabla player do it? My arms would and hands would hurt.
Years of practice.
Reminds me of Viagra this music.
I feel stoned.
+Epzilonz
Please keep your problems to yourself
+Charles Southgate its not a problem. its cool thing
+Epzilonz .......charles dint understand your inner meaning ...here stoned means spellbound(t0 charls)
Thanks for clarifying, Goulam. Best to say "spellbound" if that's what you mean.
+Charles Southgate I believe he means high, feeling euphoria.
Raag hamswadhwani
I don't express emotions.
I can't say anything about it except that the music completely takes me away.
That's the instrument that sounds like you are trying to tune a piano. I always wondered what it was.
do sarod players always have to file there nails between sessions?
its not their nails that they file, it's the calluses that build up on the tips of their fingers. the thickness of the callus changes the sense of touch, so when engaging in faster movements, they are trimmed down to enhance accuracy and sound.
Some body please let us know what is the name of the Ghatam Vidhwan?
Sangeetha Kalacharya Shri T. H. Subashchandran. He also happens to be my mridangam guru.
what is the round drum on the right, and is there any significance in him wearing purple?
+soizic de st john rosse Its Ghatam.
When I hear directly from youtube sometimes there is a break in the name of buffering. This discontinuity while listening to music will be really disappointing. Please fix this problem
Can someone tell me what instruments the two men are playing in the back? They seem to be the same type of instrument.
+Steve Fox
Not really same. One is Tabla and another is Ghatam
+Steve Fox They are playing Tanpura.
+Steve Fox yes, they're tanpura, or tamboura
+CHANNEL ONE its tanpura
Ooh! that ghatam!!!
So beautiful.. but how one can interrupt a great Raga with stupid advertising! It is a crime!!
pls can someone name that instrument...?
