    Hi, just wanted to say thank you and that I found this video really helpful. :) I've now got all of my scenes configured to my Rodecaster Duo and I've been able to configure one of the touchpads to enable me to switch between my two webcams, as well. I'm using both the Advanced Scene Switcher and the OBS-Midi-MG plug-in, so thank you for including both of them!

    I use the duo with Switcher Studio in the M1 iPad Air usb-c, I would love the midi to control 1, 2, 3, & 4 keys on a (virtual) keyboard as this would cycle the 4 cameras, now that would be cool

    The newest version of this midi is 3.2.0 and is quite a bit different than what is shown in this video. 10:13 - here is where the new version, 3.2.0, looks very different than what is shown in the tutorial. Although you can still follow it, it looks a little different.

    Awesome video and very informative. Question, if I have 3 cameras in one scene, am I able to change between cameras instead of the scenes with the midi buttons…?

    Thank you for this video! I do have a question. Is there any way to set up a pad to turn a source on or off? Not switching scenes, but in a specific scene, be able to press a pad to see a source and press that same pad to not see the source? Please let me know, as that would be HUGE! Thank you!

      @@TechnoDad No you don’t just needed to know which one we’re working with.
      Here’s the quick version. Make sure your Smartpad MIDI control is set to Latching, not momentary.
      The part where you create the binding in OBS-midi-mg, instead of selecting Scene Switching, select Video Sources, Display Source. Then select the desired Scene, Source, and select Toggle for the State.
      If you need more guidance join my Discord and I can show you screenshots.

      @ashy941  Před 8 měsíci +1

      I don’t have experience with that device but I can’t see why you wouldn’t be able to configure RCP2 pads to control it. MIDI is midi so as long as they can see each other it should work.

    Excellent tutorial - very useful. Would you be able extend this into recording video as well as audio? I have DroidCamX set up alongside my RodeCaster Duo and would like to have one button start and stop recording from both the RodeCaster output as well as the DroidCamX. Or would you even need to change anything? Would OBS simply record from whatever sources you have set up? Obviously I am not a seasoned user of OBS. Just starting out. Thanks for a good tutorial!

    • @ashy941
      @ashy941  Před 10 měsíci +1

      I don’t know if you’ll be able to control the camera directly but as a Source you can show or hide it it using OBS MIDI or with Advanced Scene Switcher "Scene item visibility" macro - either of which can be assigned to a Smartpad.
      Use a Latching MIDI Smartpad button. See examples of OBS MIDI and Adv. Scene Switcher here:
      drive.google.com/drive/folders/1sAYlNsGHuYcS059XCNDBljQz9tJXrt_0?usp=sharing
      Yes, OBS records whatever is enabled/visible in the scene.

      @utahprepper8925 Před 10 měsíci +1

      @@ashy941 Actually it does work. Once I added the Droidcam in as a source along with the Rodecaster everything records when I hit the button. The only issue I had was with the plugin location. I had installed OBS in a different directory from where it defaulted and also installed the plugin to that same one and OBS couldn't find it. So I reinstalled them to their default directories and it all worked pretty much flawlessly.
      Update: Everything works great in OBS on Windows 10 but on Ubuntu 22.04 the RCD locks up if you press the pad to start recording. I still haven't figured it out yet. Maybe one of the other midi drivers would work. When time permits I'll give them a try. I also installed a low-latency Linux kernel and that may also help.

    Great video.
    Shouldnt you also be able to do it the other way around.
    For example there is a midi Plugin for the Stream Deck. So in theory i should be able to control some functions of the roadcaster pro 2/ Duo witht the Stream Deck?
    Stream Deck has the big plus that you have multi actions and you can better recognize the buttons by giving them names or custom icons.
    Would be really interesting to try this out.

    • @ashy941
      @ashy941  Před 10 měsíci

      Theoretically yes, but I haven't seen any documentation on it and I think Rode would need to make some software changes . It's very much a one-way street right now as when I've tried to send MIDI commands to the RCP,2 I get the wrong result.
      I am curious what the specific use cases are that you're thinking of where you would use Elgato or other device to control the RCP2.

      @@ashy941 ohh i think the last response got removed because i linked to a reddit thread.
      Im just liking the customization of the stream deck a little bit more and i want to use multi actions. For exmaple you could enable a voice effect, play sound and disable the voice effect with one button.
      I achived this and posted a quick guide in the rode subreddit.
