  • Riese & Müller Homage HS ride was on July 10, 2022, when I rode the on the Minuteman Bikeway plus dirt road trail.
"The Minuteman Bikeway passes through the historic area where the American Revolution began in April 1775. Today, the Minuteman Bikeway is one of the most popular and successful rail trails in the United States, enjoyed for both healthy recreation and transportation.
The bikeway has become a new type of “Main Street” where neighbors and strangers alike come together while riding, walking, or skating on the path. In 2008, Rails-to-Trails Conservancy inducted the Minuteman Bikeway into the national Rail-Trail Hall of Fame.
Built by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts on an inactive railroad right of way, the Minuteman Bikeway has become a treasured regional resource, used by local residents and visitors from near and far. Connecting to the Alewife “T” Station in Cambridge, the bikeway provides an easy way for bicyclists and pedestrians to travel to and from subway and bus lines, serving to reduce automobile traffic in the area.
The bikeway is collectively managed and maintained by the four communities it passes through Bedford, Lexington, Arlington, and Cambridge."

Can you lose weight and get fit while riding an e-bike? That is what this video and upcoming videos will be all about. I weighed 262.2 pounds before I went on my first R&M Homage 22-mile ride on November 24, 2021.
I would love to hear from you in the comments plus I’ll do my best to answer any questions.
Steve the owner of Seacoast Ebikes was amazing to work with and is also a fellow Homage rider. He currently lost 42 pounds since owning his bike. I got a tour of the shop and was AMAZING at how many Riese & Muller bikes he has in stock plus other e-bikes.

How is the weight loss going?
How far did you cover in this ride in miles / kilometres?
Have you considered fitting a Garmin Varia radar to improve your safety. I find it a great help to warn me of traffic approaching from behind. I had to buy an adaptor to fit it to my R&M Superdelite.
You have some great routes to cycle there. Keep up the great work. Love the videos.
    🚴 👍

Thank you. Still a work in progress with weight loss. I rode for 26 miles. I have a couple of red blinker lights on the back of the bike plus on my Abus helmet and a reflective yellow riding vest. I have people approaching me saying, “no excuse for people not seeing you” Safe travels.

Hi Walter. Been watching all your videos as well as your observations on the FB R&M group. I am conflicted between the Homage and the SuperDelite. I will primarily use this in New York City, mostly bike lanes and about 20-30 mile rides per day. Would the homage or Superdelite be better? I do love the looks of the SD, but the Homage step through for someone like me recovering from a knee injury seems more practical. Also, since you have the Fox suspension, is it a world of difference between it and the Suntour on the homage? Lastly, since you have the comfort kit on the Homage (the only one that can have it with a Nyon), is it that much more ‘comfort’able than the regular handlebars on the SD? Thanks in advance for any feedback you can share here.
I’m also very conflicted about buying the bike now as compared to 2023 when they will all probably move to the smart system, which would eliminate the need to go to a dealer for updates, better app and tracking/locking capabilities. I am almost tempted to get a Charger4 instead due to this, and maybe sell it and move to a 2024 homage or SD when those get updated.

Thank you for your comment. In my humble option, the Homage is my all time favorite bike. Dual battery Class 3 (high speed) with Rohloff E14. From what I read; you will be riding in New York City; I feel that the Homage would be the perfect bike for you. On the road, I felt no difference between the Suntour and Fox. The dropper seat post along with comfort kit is GREAT. City driving stop and go lights and people, I’m always using the dropper seat. The Nyon display is big and easy to see. I have three slipped disk in my lower back so I want to sit straighter so I prefer the comfort tall position on the bike. I’ve watched a few videos and the Smart Bosch system will not be on the Homage in 2023 especially with the Rohloff E14.
Last time I was at Seacoast EBike in New Hampshire (where I purchased my bike) they had a few Homage’s in stock. You might like their sells tax rate 😬

@@WaltervanDusen thank you so much for your comment. Yes, you are right. I will not be able to get Rohlhoff with any new Bosch system for quite a while, that is something to really think about. Because I will be riding in the most hilly part of Manhattan, I need that specific gearing system.
Any thoughts on whether getting something like a charger4 for in the interim, for two years would be a good stop gap, so that I can wait and see how the Bosch system develops with the superdelite and homage, and compatibility with the SD/homage when they finally get released with the new systems and Rohloff compatibility? Or am I giving too much credence to the new Bosch system, when I should just be focusing on the ride and not that much on the tech?
