Say his name three times…
I was legitimately scared to say it 3 times as a kid 😂
It's a really beautiful movie and there's a musical on Broadway that is re-opening on April if you can check it out
Nasser If you like cartoons try to find the Beetle Juice cartoon to watch on your spare time it is really fun however do not see it as being a continuation of the film it is its own thing and I am glad you liked the film been my favourite since I was a kid and I was born in 2000 and I still hum the theme song and man Micheal Keaton was great as Beetle Juice.
So not a Halloween movie but if you love winona ryder and you havent seen it before can you react to the 1994 version of little women around Christmas
Omg yes!!! You should listen to the Beetlejuice musical soundtrack! They’re reopening on Broadway next year!
"Of course Winona Ryder's the only one that can see them, that's how iconic she is" I busted out laughing at that
If for some reason someone ever tells you Michael Keaton can’t act, show them this. Stellar performance.
My vote is for Pacific Heights.
I know you are a Tim Burton fan but he surrounds himself with a good team. The writers on this were fantastic. Screenplay: Michael McDowell, Larry Wilson, Warren Skaaren
Michael McEachern McDowell (June 1, 1950 - December 27, 1999) was an American novelist and screenwriter described by author Stephen King as "the finest writer of paperback originals in America today".
Is Michael McDowell related to Robert McDowell
Thank you! I am tired of people crediting Directors for everything.
Tales From the Darkside (low budget 80's horror tv show) has several episodes written by McDowell. They've got Beetlejuice flavor to them - the man was strange and creative and disturbed.
My little brother and I probably watch this 20 times growing up. We were always hoping for a sequel but all we got was a short-lived cartoon series.
There is a documentary being made as we speak don't know when it's going to be released
4:09 ''This is weird as hell, but i love it''
That pretty much sums up my love for Burton films in one sentence.
I love the Beetlejuice Animated Series Intro. Its so wacky and fun. And of cause Michael Keaton being a big delight with such a small screentime in this film. Im happy when younger people see these old films and actually like them. Gets me all giddy inside.
The 80’s and 90’s were such good times for movies. They really stand the test of time! Even many of the effects, which were so basic compared to today, still hold up because they are just so visually unique.
They actually had a small budget, that's why Tim Burton chose to do "B" like movie props and set design ..
MK made up most of his own lines..
This movie shows the ghosts as the good ppl and the living as the scary/bad ppl..
Fun fact: Betelguese is taken from one for the stars in the Orion constellation.
Please watch "Little Shop of Horrors" from 1986!
Yes!
Omg yes.. He'll love it
100%
Michael keaton is a legend
Now you see why this got an animated series and musical.
Oh definitely do Sweeney Todd.
And, when you’ve time, Casper.
Sweeney Todd 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
The Beetlejuice animated series that came out after the film was actually a lot of fun.
If you want to see Michael Keaton REALLY sell a role, watch Much Ado About Nothing.
Embrace the strange that is, Tim Burton. Don't ask questions! lol!
Now there's a great movie! Michael Keaton shows his comedic side in spades, but with a demented edge. The man is versatile as hell.
#ITSSHOWTIME
This and Edward Scissorhands are in my top 10 films of all time. This one in particular is just genius.
Yes! Please do Sleepy Hollow! Tim Burton + Johnny Depp! A win-win!
"Though I Know I should be wary,
still I venture someplace scary.
Ghostly haunting I turn loose.
Beetlejuice.
Beetlejuice!
BEETLEJUICE!!!!"
Interesting seeing someone watch these things we grew up with. Sort of the opposite of Nostalgia Critic. No Nostalgia glasses looking throigh.
Michael Keaton adlibbed about 90% of his lines. Stellar performance
The first time I watched this movie with a friend we cried during the Daaaay-Oh scene, we rewound the tape (!!) a couple of times and were in hysterics.
Catherine O'Hara is a treasure!
You will love sleepy Hollow, and you should definitely watch it sometime.
If you’re interested since you loved this film. There is an animated series that ran for a few seasons that keeps the weird and creative vibe.
Yesss so happy to see you react to this one!!
Tim Burton the absolute best !! 🖤
I can't imagine any other actor as Beetlejuice , Keaton really went all out
Underrated (or at least nobody on YT reacts to as much) 80s films to consider reacting to:
-Brazil
-The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai
-Glory
-Amadeus
-Big Trouble in Little China
YES to all 5.
I was in 1st grade for Halloween 1991. I got home from school that day and my parents rented Beetlejuice and Ernest Scared Stupid. I watched both before going trick-or-treating. Cherished memories.
Tim Burton era (1987-2000) is spectacular. My favorite then.
I had a recorded VHS tape growing up (most people nowadays don't know what that is...) with Beetlejuice, Ghostbusters, and Ghostbusters 2 on it. My brothers and I watched it endlessly.
Tim Burton is truly amazing. You must watch Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow, and Big Fish.
Sleepy Hollow is really something
Loved this movie since I was kid. So glad you liked it. Another favourite is Death Becomes Her. Iconic x
This film is a childhood favourite of mine and i will always enjoy watching it over and over again.
Another Tim Burton film I recommend is Ed Wood. Johnny Depp plays Ed, who was nominated as the Worst Director of All Time. His most famous film is Plan 9 From Outer Space. Ed Wood tells the story of the making of that film. I also recommend watching Plan 9 before Ed Wood so you will understand the events better. Ed Wood is Tim Burton’s love letter to bad b-movies and the directors who made them.
I’m so glad you watched and liked this movie! I saw it SEVEN times in the theater! Well, Geena Davis was a big part of that. 😉
I remember the '90s cartoon series based on this (also by Tim Burton), where cartoon Lydia, who's still a teenager, summons cartoon Beetlejuice, who's still an ancient ghost in the form of a grotesque middle-aged man who eats bugs, to help solve her various high schooler problems and also go on adventures like all cartoon characters always do.
My favorite Tim Burton movie. There's also a Beetlejuice musical and imo, it's pretty good! The guy who plays Beetlejuice does his own thing with it, and Lydia is iconic.
I was actually on that property right after they tore the house down. My fathers friend lives across the street in Vermont and we went to visit him when I was a kid and he told us they had just filmed a movie there so we walked over. It’s cool to watch this movie now and recognize the property.
My favourite Tim Burton-directed movie for Halloween would be Sleepy Hollow. You should check it out. It also features Cristopher Walken and Ray Park who played Darth Maul in The Phantom Menace.
I watched it just today as well, and I loved every second of it
Loved this movie. The very next year Michael Keaton did Batman with Tim Burton. Talk about versatile...
2:53 - "I really love Winona Ryder so much!" - Good on you, Nasser! The funny thing is, I was already into "Gothic" stuff long before this movie came out... but yeah, I had a crush on her for a while. ;)
OH! Speaking of Winona Ryder.... if you can find it.... definitely watch "Welcome Home, Roxy Carmicle". She starred in that, again playing an "outcast"..... Honestly, I REALLY identified with her character in that movie, as well as this one.
Edit: I remember when "Batman" came out in 1989.... the scene where Keaton faces the Joker in that chick's apartment.... grabs the fireplace poker, and yells "You wanna get nuts?! C'mon! Let's get nuts!" was 100% associated with his performance as Beetlejuice. I swear, the whole theater cheered at that moment! Because we ALL knew/associated that moment with this movie!
(and yes, I saw Batman on it's opening weekend)
Edit 2: 9:37 - Notice, Beetlejuice is dressed exactly like the husband was when he died.... these small details really show you the genius of Tim Burton!
Also - Notice again..... the guy playing Otho, also played "Associate Bob" in Demolition Man.
12:35 - Great use of "Stop Motion" visual effects, is it not? Even by today's standards? Tell me, Nasser, since you freaked out about it... I honestly want to know your opinion.
13:07 - Yes, it is. And as someone who as gone "through with it".... I can empathize. Trust me, Suicide isn't all it's cracked up to be.
13:24 - "They're doing it all for the money? It just doesn't make any sense." - Hate to tell you this, Nasser(because you seem like a really level headed guy).... but yeah, that's the American Way.... and I say that AS an American. If it's not "profitable".... it's not an option. I suggest you watch this: czcams.com/play/PLs_5xG067eNZvfisy5-p-eVh2E7Ihs3E6.html (It's a playlist of music videos I put together of the "Operation: Mindcrime" album by Queensryche. I know you don't do musical reactions, nor am I asking you to... but you really should watch the videos related to this album(even if just on your own time). It really speaks to the hypocrisy and corruption in today's America, despite having been made back in the late 1980s.
14:54 - "The Dowry's on me, Dad!" is a reference to how things were in "the REALLY old day's"... where the parents of the bride had to "pay" the parents of the husband" a "dowry"(fee) in order for the wedding to go forward. Pretty sick, if you think about it in today's society... having the parents of the female actually PAY for their daughter to get married(usually in a pre-arranged ceremony).... because the parents of the female would likely benefit from the "class standing" of the groom's parents. To put it simply, they literally sold their daughter into matrimonial slavery.
15:05 - LMAO! He is hundreds of years old... and yeah, she is but a teenager........ so yeah.... there is a MASSIVE age difference. While it's never stated in the movie, it is assumed that she is at least 18.... however, in the cartoon that followed this movie..... she was much younger. So yeah.... there was a HUGE legal issue... or would be, had people connected the two.
16:35 - Oh, yeah... Winona REALLY shone in this scene.... and to be honest, "Jump in the Line" is in a LOT of the playlists on my iPhone. That song just reminds me of this scene.... even more than the "Banana Boat" song from earlier in the movie. I just love that Jamaican vibe.
Winona Ryder is great unless you own a clothing store.
@@John_Locke_108 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Mentions reacting to Sweeney Todd - I get excited
Mentions reacting to Sleepy Hollow - I get excited again
Written and directed by Tim Burton starring Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Catharine O'Hara and featuring Wynonna Ryder and Michael Keaton
15:06 Nasser, did you just ask if it was legal for Beetlejuice to marry Lydia???? Hahahaha
The BeetleJuice cartoon series is a lot of fun.
Movie is a blast and such a fun world to escape too the Tim Burton world thanks Nasser
*Larry world, dumbass. Tim only directed. Had nothing to do with the writing, dumbass.
This movie is so creative but idk how i watched it when i was a kid lmao mom has some questions to answer ahahahaha this is definitely in my top 5 halloween movies list
Nasser, I couldn’t have said it any better myself. Love this film. Winona is one of my favorite actresses. She can really sell these roles she plays and she’s the ultimate goth/dark girl.
My favorite movie \o/ It still always amazed me and i'm laughing so much >w< I love it and I'm so glad you love it too !
Great reaction. I loved this reaction because a lot of younger people who react to this film just don't get it at all. Kudos to to you and Im glad you had a great experience.
The cartoon based on this movie was fun too.
My 3rd favourite movie of all time. #1 is The Wizard of Oz, #2 is Edward Scissorhands. So glad you loved it so much! ♥
There is also the Beetlejuice broadway musical.
Oh you'll die over Sweeney Todd. Im not even a huge musical fan but that movie is beautiful.
I'm glad you liked it. They are supposed to come out with a second movie soon. Can't wait to see you review it! 😁
The best Tim Burton movie. Snuck in to see it at 13 (had to be 15). Definite nostalgia attached. Something to be said for movies that make people happy for sure.
Ain't a Tim Burton movie. He only directed. Directors are over rated. Writers are more important
For "Sweeney Todd", it might be fun for you to compare the movie version with one of the taped stage versions (I personally love the Angela Lansbury/George Hearn one, but partially because that's the production I saw on stage - only with Len Cariou instead of Hearn).
When BJ comes out of the model after Lydia calls his name 3 times. You can see the head of Jack Skellenton on the tip of his hat. This movie came out in 88. Nightmare came out in 91 ish.
Imo this is peak Tum Burton
One of my all time favorites as a teen
One of my all time favorites!! 😁
Adam: What are your qualifications?
Beetlejuice: Ah, well, I attended Juliard. I'm a graduate of the Harvard business school. I traveled quite extensively. I lived through the black plague, and I had a pretty good time during that. I've seen "The Exorcist" JUST ABOUT 167 TIMES! AND IT KEEPS GETTING FUNNIER EVERY SINGLE TIME I SEE IT! NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THAT YOU'RE TALKING TO A DEAD GUY! NOW WHAT DO YOU THINK?! 🤣
Was never really a fan of the Beetlejuice movie, but I did completely fall on love with the broadway musical!
You should watch some of the cartoon series. It’s basically Lydia and Betelgeuse having adventures in the neither world. He’s less “bad” but mischievous. Thought you weren’t going to like it based on the thumbnail!
Dustin Hoffman cross-dressed in "Tootsie" back in 1982 :)
Uhhh....NOT!!
The 80’s and 90’s were really peak movie times!
I am here once again to recommend Sweeny Todd. Tim Burton Director, Helena Bonham Carter and Johnny Depp, Alan Rickman, it's a musical, and it has the visual look and style of Burton. So good! Edit" Oh He Knows!! I'm so happy now. lol
Edit Again. On the topic of my opinion on Beetlejuice. I love it. I watched it a lot as a kid. Actually watched it just on regular days and not just Halloween Time. Of course, being an adult and the busy things that come with that I usually only watch it around Halloween time now. But it's one of Tim Burtons best. Everything about is just awesome. I really liked the animated show as a kid too.
You are the third one in this thread recommending Sweeney Todd. 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
This is my favorite Tim Burton movie of all time. Truly iconic😄
Do Sweeney Todd next
Sweeney Todd 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
*Tim Burton directed, dumbass. He didn't write it.
@@MrParkerman6 a movie can’t go anywhere without direction, just because someone has the skills to write a screenplay doesn’t mean they have any directing experience.
You need to get your *dumbass* attitude out of the comments and think of something better to do than bother someone about a comment they made three stupid months ago. Open a window, get out of your moms basement, or just go outside and get some fresh air.
Saw that about 4-5 times in the theater when it came out.
You seemed to get stuck on them touching people so they could feel the Maitlands as ghosts. The problem with that is when he was rushing past the other two up the stairs he never touched them. They felt air movement when he went by, that was all.
My absolute FAVORITE part of this movie is BEH.... And you talked right through it and missed it!!!! NOW...you MUST go back and watch it, from the beginning of the scene where Otho brings them back. Great reaction, you love it because of its originality, there has never been a movie like this before so something new and outrageous like this will captivate most people's attention.
I've loved this movie ever since I was a little kid. Probably seen it 100 times!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Loved your reaction to the shimp hands!
Burton isn't my favorite director, but credit where it's due, he's a very talented creator
He isn't a creator, dumbass. The WRITERS are the creators.
If you haven't watched Sleepy Hollow yet, fair warning: there are a few cast members from Harry Potter and Star Wars, so you might want to brace yourself. It's one of my favorite Burton/Depp/Elfman collaborations, but it is pretty intense.
Heh, didn't notice that Beetlejuice said the f-word in this movie. Apparently, this is one of the few PG movies that actually has it!
One of my top ten favorite movies!! I used to go to bed watching this movie.
Burton's been talking about wanting to make a sequel but it could only happen *IF* Keaton and Ryder say yes to reprising their roles.
I love Edward Scissor hands, amazing Tim Burton movie
Yeah!, Tim Burton is an artist.
Forgive me if I forgot if you've seen it already. But you should add to the Halloween list, "Big Trouble in Little China"!!
Michael Keaton's signature role for me, he was brilliant in this.
I'm so glad you like it haha. when I was a kid this was my favorite movie and one of the best Tim Burton characters to me. It's delicious to watch. By the way fun fact: at 14:20 if you look at the top of his hat it has a BAT, that was a little BATMAN's reference put in there intentionally hahaha.
The head of Jack Skellington is on the top of his hat as well.
Not a Tim Burton character, dumbass. He only directed, he didn't write. They are the WRITER'S Characters.
My favorite Burton movie! Thanks for watching it
*Larry movie.
Michael Keaton was criminally underrated as an actor. Along with Billy Crystal, check out City Slickers. Fan-freaking-tastic movie. It’s funny, it touching its nerve racking at times…. Just a great movie with a great cast.
Loved this reaction and can't wait for the rest this season 😁You should definitely give Tremors(1990) a watch especially for this month..you will have a blast
That’s another really fun movie!
@@KevyNova oh yeah big time fun, I really enjoy the 1st sequel as well
It's such a fun movie. Keaton is fantastic. But so are all the other actors. Love the Day O scene.
Did you just say,THE GUY WHO WROTE THE LORD OF THE RINGS?
Those new Funko Pops are brilliant. Thanks for putting a big smile on my face.
Michael Keaton in The Birdman is wonderful. I think he was nominated or won an Oscar. Its a continuous shot movie.
I loved this movie as a kid. I still do.
Great reaction!
If you get a chance you should take a look at the cartoon.
Keep up the good work!
Nasser, now that you've seen Beetlejuice, go back and watch the scene in Batman where Bruce Wayne confronts the Joker in Vicki Vale's apartment. Michael Keaton's Beetlejuice voice comes out for a couple of lines.
You wanna get nuts???
You believe the book... like Ginny Weasley! 😂
I have seen this movie so many times, if it's playing in another room I only need to hear a few seconds of it to know which movie is playing. And then I stop what I'm doing and watch it again. I compare every scary quirky movie to this one, I compare every Tim Burton movie to this one, I compare every scary quirky song to this soundtrack, and I compare every Danny Elfman song to this soundtrack. I fell in love with Tim Burton (and Danny Elfman) with this movie, but I did start with Tim Burton and Danny Elfman with "Pee-wee's Big Adventure". There's only four movies I watch again and again, this one, "The Wizard of Oz", "Bedazzled" and "The Money Pit". Not sure why, but those four are just so re-watchable to me.
Cool hoodie!
I'm glad you enjoy this, it's a classic!
Please add 2005 movie The Skeleton Key to the list, it's surprising and spooky
Loved this movie groing up. I am so happy you enjoyed it.
If you want another classic Michael Keaton performance check out "Multiplicity". It takes a bit to get going, but Keaton gets to really shine in that movie.
Great reaction. Might I humbly recommend Sweeney Todd (also a musical, with some great actors), and Sleepy Hollow (based on the story called, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Iriving. Great movies, great production, great actors, but most of all..... great source material. As a more creepy/crawly movie of Halloween, and it really could very easily be a story that could really happen,, I would definitely suggest Arachnophobia. It is an older movie (1990) starring Jeff Daniels, and it is super creepy.
Batman & Beetlejuice where in the movies at the same time
J.J Abrams lense flare with the candle burning 😀
