All of these apply to these lyrics because of the great writing. Thinking James Hetfield is not a poet who can't write multiple meanings into his lyrics will make you miss tons of hidden messages.

I saw Metallica back in '86 on the Master of Puppets tour, they opened up for Ozzy Osbourne in Austin Texas. I was 14 and my older brother took me with him and his friends. One of the best concerts and memories were made that night lol. Really love seeing younger generations first time reactions to the "devil's music" I grew up with and still blast at 51 yrs of age. 🤘 Keep rockin and hopefully you'll get to go to a live concert soon 🤘🤘

I think Battery refers to “act of beating someone or something with successive blows” and/or “usually impressive or imposing group” and in the military it’s like a grouping of artillery pieces for tactical purposes. More of a repeated onslaught, not about power supplies.

As metal as Metallica is, I've always felt a hint of classical composition (i.e. Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, etc.)in their music.
This stuff is great! These guys have had a huge influence on rock, metal, heavy metal, thrash, etc.
I would like to recommend a song by some of the inventors of metal. The song is "War Pigs" by Black Sabbath. This song is a thinker.
