  • Today’s video takes us underwater instead of underground! One-Legged Miner goes on vacation to Germany and visits one of the last four remaining World War Two U-boats in the world, and the only remaining Type XXI left.
Apologies in advance for a few minor technical glitches that I didn’t catch until I was off the boat.

Chicago native here who toured the U505 at the Museum of Science and Industry many times in my 60 years. The museum is in one of the original 1893 world's fair remaining buildings. It is a fantastic place full of wonder and ingenuity. Worth a visit to the windy city just by itself. ❤

There's an American WW2 Submarine tourists can enter docked next to the USS Alabama in Moble Ala Bay, off the Dauphin Island Parkway. The Submarine is called the USS Drum. Very tight squeeze, not good if you're claustrophobic or have low back, or rheumatoid arthritis.

Very interesting. Thank you. I'm in Chicago and I've been thru the U-505 several times. The boat had been displayed outside, next to the Museum for more then 50 years. The Chicago weather was taking it's toll on the sub, so in 2004, they moved it to an underground display area.

Question is, how his teeth made it to Moscow? And they're there since 1945. I assume he enjoyed Argentinian mashed food and soups for the rest of his days, since he never got his teeth back from ze bloody Russen. Btw. there's a common German joke that there is "sufficient evidence", Adolf served as a foreman on one South American VW assembly line after the war. Well what boring place the world would be without conspiracy theories.
