- I changed a few parts because of copyright, unfortunately i couldn´t show the Bowser´s alley, even though it´s empty xD
Played on real N64 console with Everdrive.
This build is simply amazing, that´s all I can say.
It includes the old geometry outside and inside the castle, also the old music and sound effects.
The performance is also very remarkable with a fluid framerate and absolutely no crashes at all.

This is a phenomenal work! The only thing that sticks out is Cool Cool Mountain, which had vastly different geometry on the outside. It didn't even had any of the huts, if I remember correctly.
Yeah, this is a surprising omission, I really hope it's updated to include the older layout of CCM!

I wonder if they'll also tackle more subtle details, like Hooty the Owl not carrying you upwards to the top immediately, and instead letting you control how much you want to rise by increments of height... probably by the use of the B button or something.
Or the cannon, after it fires you, you can fly around in the air, as if you had the Wing Cap.
I like some of the beta textures and sounds, marios voice is not one of them, so glad that wasn’t the final voice.

Why does Mario's voice alternate between an Ewok, an anime protagonist, and Michael Jackson?
Also it's really cool to see what was kept and what was changed. The first ice mountain level was basically unchanged, except it had Tall Tall Mountain's slide copypasted into it. Dire, Dire Docks took Jolly Roger Bay's place.

I think I actually like the look of these beta coins better then the ones in the finished product. They may not be as flashy, but they look more realistic and they're consistent with previous Mario games. I like the pick up sound better too.
The reason map was removed because of level expansions deeming it was too big.
Also there was a neat feature that auto replenishes your health. It requires a code to activate it.
If thats the case, then there would be cheat codes to be found in the game. Like in banjo kazooie.
And the musroom people in the castle will tell you the cheat codes.
The basement in later stages was suppose to be used to find keys to get to the next floor in the castle. And you find them by talking to rabbits that you freed within the levels.

Hopefully if we ever get another Gigaleak we'll get a working Ultra 64 Mario Brothers rom. Until then, this is the next best thing.
I'm thinking It doesn't exist, the thing is some of those beta cartdriges (the long ones) worked as Ram only, wich means the game could be stored there temporary but after being shut down the game is deleted. That works fine if you want to show a demo in a expo but let's you keep working without spending many resources ($)

For some reason I always like old beta builds more than the actual finished versions.
I'd say the betas capture better the idea that the developer had in mind and later had to be changed because of external factors like hardware limitations, time, tools, censorship, foreign ideas, etc.

It’s actually not, these are generic sound effects from a sound library, most of them Looney Tunes. I’m pretty sure that Charles Martinet was directed to make similar sounds though. I bet the team got used to them when building and playing the game and realised how satisfying they were.

This can’t be real, because if Luigi was playable at some point, (which he was,) Luigi would probably be for the player two spot, and not be able to switch between both Mario and Luigi.

well, the N64 was delayed almost a year because of Mario 64, that's why a lot of content was removed, If they had included it all the game would probably had been launched until 97.
