- If you think racing around a parking lot of cones doesn't sound cool, it's only because you haven't tried it. Autox is the cheapest and most accessible way to get into motorsports, and it'll teach you invaluable driving lessons. (Apologies to Rob Leslie for erroneously referring to his CRX as a Civic. Asian Ben has been appropriately disciplined for his screw-up.)

Those dudes at the end laughing made me smile, good to see a couple bros having a good time
I went to one autoX event in my area and I was hooked. My car went from a modified daily with stereo components and almost no performance mods, hanging out at shows and going through judging. To what it is today. A gutted sedan with larger engine, full suspension upgraded, with Autocross tires sitting in the garage waiting for the next few minutes of cone carving glory.
That's terrible. Drive it daily or get a Prius
ur car is sick asf! im getting into autocross with my 17 si and cant wait for next week lol
@@diptarupghosh4431 how'd it go?
@elnollie it was awesome! I set down some pretty good times, especially being on all seasons. Car had plenty more potential to brake later and I could have taken better lines, but it was good experience
@@diptarupghosh4431 that’s great! Glad to hear it. I’m planning on doing my first auto cross event soon! Any last minute tips you wish someone would have told you before you went?
Mazda BRZ Si😂😂
:D
That's the one with the Boxer 4 Rotor VTEC engine, yeah?
Gavin Carney I think you meant rotary not rotor.
I meant rotor, It's a boxer engine with 4 rotors.
That’ll never match the speed of my Boss 392 Corvette GTB.
I started racing auto X here in germany after watching your videos about auto X and time attack. I did some research and took my little Peugeot 206 hatchback to an event. Now I am hooked and attend every event in the local auto X series.
Keep up the great work, you inspire people to go out and race.
What is autocross? Fun.
Also: That Caterham/Lotus car thing needs to be in my garage :D
Good_Lord that old man doesn't look like he would put up a fight...
Good_Lord
Looks like a kit car with american power and a lotus 7 rear end.
It's a lotus 7 clone with an S2000 engine. It's also ridiculous amounts of fun.
your cinematography skills are something else.
I got my start in that very same parking lot almost 20 years ago. auto x at the Salem Civic Center was always my favorite.
I can't get enough of your channel. Make more videos!!
Hey it's the Salem Civic center blue ridge region SCCA! Great folks, and great venue!
Great video! The ending was perfect.
6 years ago they are talking about autocross, today they are doing gridlife seriously... How times have changed...
Nice video. Got the same dope tuner cult evo shirt one of my favs!
Great video, keep it up guys.
Great job with the video guys. Hi quality stuff
Taking my st out next weekend. I’m so excited
real good stuff guys keep it up
Lol just finished the latest video of Gridlife and saw this thumbnail pop up with a baby faced Ben...had to click it immediately lol. 😁👍
So excised for the autox season to start :-)
The fun/$ of autocross is awesome!
"A Civic like this" as they point at a CRX.
In Ireland Autocross is like a cheaper and less dangerous version of rally, you can start at 16 so you don't even need a lisence.
Zero experience driving in any context other than "to the store" and "to work" but this still looks fun.
Any tips for getting into auto cross fit you never been before? Also any do's or donts?
haha, autocrossfit? Do show up early to the event. They should do a novice walk of the course, which you should do. Be humble: autocross is totally different from other types of hpdes. Even if you track, it'll take a lot of getting used to.
Damn that crx doe =)
Is autocross and time attack the same thing? Seems like there isn't that many differences between them
Daaahhhnnnnggg. Is that tall Ben’s dad from the 60’s?
Which autocross "club" is this. Is this CDC capital driving club by any chance?
Auto X sounds like a lot of fun.
the track we have here in Hawaii sucks sooo bad... I want to do autocross... but i don't have money to waste on wheels... one day though...one day
I've seen people autocross with a 85 Toyota Tercel with all season tires. Leaning so hard in the corners that I thought it was gonna flip. I was laughing so hard.
Also seen a early 90s 7 series. Huge boat of a car.
These videos make it seem like it's all about competition. It is and isn't.
You can sign up to race in the FR class. Fun Run. Any car can go there in that class and just do what the class says. Have fun.
As soon as you start modifying your car you really have to pay attention to what you can do to it to stay within the class that you're in. 1 incorrect modification can put you in the next class and all of a sudden you're at the bottom.
Basically just go out with what you got and have fun and get good.
Tires won't make you a better driver. Practice will.
Over here (holland) autocross is like dirt track oval racing with beater cars and buggy's
And its a lot of fun
its probably everywhere in Europe. I was confused when I saw title of the video autocross and its just basically slalom around the cones
Mazda went and bought the brz name and the si rights and created a new sports car.
I see you run with BRR SCCA
2:49 whats that car?
Old school G & G
I did my first autocross in a stang vid :D
Autocross is my greatest justification for wanting to rebuild some thirty or forty year old shitbox.
Kylo rynn?
My friend tried to make fun of me for autox'ing. He called me a "parking lot" racer, which is funny because in my 20+ events I've never autox'd in a parking lot. While the seat time argument against autox is a valid one, the satisfaction at the end of the day is still there if you join the right club. Also the risk of crashing or blowing up an engine is greatly reduced compared to track. I enjoy both track and autox equally. But, when my budget is tight I stick to autox.
I wonder how the dollar to seat time ratio compares to an actual track day. I've never done a car track day. Only auto/rally cross. $45 seems like a pretty good deal. Especially considering the friends I've made.
Kris Hamilton $/per driving minute for a track day beats autox for sure. But the overall costs to do a track day is significantly more especially most track days are two days event so you have to factor in travel/gas/hotels etc.
Having said that, there are some serious autoxer that travels around the country to compete in the National events. And when you get to that point, then the gap between the two are all of a sudden much closer and track days seem to make more sense.
The sports are very different, both are thrilling but autox (and perhaps karting) is definitely a cheaper way to get into motorsports for fun and for driving development. IMO there is no argument to this fact. Of course, there are autoxer or track day guys that think one is definitely better than the other but I think those are the guys who either haven't done both or just can't see the goods in both sports.
Where is that shirt from?
+Tyler Dowd Tuner Cult
0:20 Where can I get that t-shirt???
sa blay
3:19 - I'll have what they're having.
well, the term "Civic" isn't actually wrong, because the formal name is the "Civic CR-X"
outside of japan, that is.
Thank god i read this before I made a cheeky remark haha
Funny autocross here in eu is more like rallycross but for everyone
1:05 tighten yours harnesses!
Backroads
Check our autocross layout in Saudi .
2:35 is that really a civic tho
apex128 a crx is a civic
apex128 I mean, technically.. But we all know the real answer...

Can motorcycles join autocross?
Depends on the group, but SCCA (Sport Car Club of America) doesn't allow anything with less than 4 wheels.
Yooooo I could race my old POS Ford Taurus
Yep and you will not regret it. Bring what you have and love every bit of it.
wait, in the motorcycle worldwe call these Gymkhana.
00:10 "Mazda brz si"
Mazda BRZ..... wtf mate?
What is Autocross...it's a great way to put stress on your car :P All kidding aside, great vid guys! Just curious, what suction cup mount are you using?
+Alex Rei Most of the in car shots were with a standard gopro suction cup, but the shot with Ben in the car was with a Manfrotto 241FB Suction Cup + 056 Head.
Did he say mazda brz ? WTF ?

2:38 *crx not civic
Guess what the "C" in CRX stands for? Yep...Civic.
2:37 it's a CRX
A CRX is also a Civic. You can find those statements on internet. They were actually the very same Civic but different body style and some not-shared parts.
What is autocross?
Re71r's.
That aint racin
Both it's hard on the car and it's not what Porsches are meant for
Guy in the white shirt driving would be at least 2 seconds faster if he actually positioned his wheel and seat properly. Way too close to the wheel it was rubbing his gut and arms struggled to move properly. Come on man. ...
This dude talking about racing then says a Mazda brz… lol gimme a break bro who’s racing a 4 cylinder???
Autocross is lame rev your car in 1st and 2nd gear around some cones
All Time Productions Not sure if you being sarcastic or serious.
