Yeah It’s been confirmed by one of the animators that the full of Season One is actually 24 episodes long which means Netflix did in fact cut it up again

I agree Sonic Prime is definitely the best Sonic cartoon yet! i especially love that half of the shows voice cast are mlp voice actors namely Ashleigh Ball, Kazumi Evans, Vincent Tong, Shannon Chan-Kent and etc. and as expected their performances are just magnificent!!!

As someone who has loved Sonic for years now. I really liked this show. To me it was very smart to change Sonics character in order to fix the little issues with his character. The voices, animation and everything I just beautiful and I love it. Season 2 PLEASE NERFLIX

I’m so happy with what they’ve been doing with Amy’s character lately, both frontiers and prime do her AMAZING, I’ve always loved Amy (mainly because she’s pink) but now I just loved her even more that they’re finally straying away from the stalker fan girl

i especially like Nine and Rusty Rose, Rusty Rose has some actual body horror stuff going on and she is SO cool. i like how every universe's Amy wants to KILL. I like how Nine is sooo soso different from Tails only because Sonic wasn't there to be his friend and how he was bullied and reduced to just his extra tail to the point where he embraced it and made 7 more and changed his name to Nine referencing the nine tails so you literally CAN'T miss that part of him, but AT THE SAME TIME he folds the extra mechanical tails over the two tails to make one tail. also rouge's voice. could listen to Rouge's voice all day. also Shadow.
I'm also a fan of this series, especially after finding out that a certain character named "Captain Jack" was voiced by...

Given that Sonic has been my hyperfixation for the last 10 years this show is AMAZING!!
The animation is SO bouncy and fun! I love when Sonic does his "peel out" run that his body floats and his legs aren't attached, I love the way his ears flop around and the quils bounce and I love THE EXPRESSIONS!! Seeing Sonic characters EXPRESS is actually fantastic! I haven't finished Sonic Frontiers yet so I can't say anything about that but seeing the amount of LOVE and passion put into the animation truly makes me so happy!
When Sonic is in his main universe and he gets hit rings just fly out of him and the fact that he has to collect rings in case he gets hit is just really fun. Rogue is one of my favourite characters and getting to see her have a main seat in the cast is also really nice!
I also really like all the alternate designs for everyone! My favourite is probably Nine since he's just really cute and a very, very sad character.
Sonic has always been pretty "dumb" he's the cool smart guy who acts first and that's sorta always been his personality, I don't mind seeing that played up so that he can have character development!
I'm very excited to see what comes next, 2022 has really been the year of Sonic and I don't think I could be any happier with how it's turned out!!

The scene where Nine is hacking a computer and, without missing a beat or even turning away from hacking, uses his robot limbs to deliver a violent vivisection to a robot is the moment where Prime went from 'pretty good' to 'please drip feed inject this show into me for the next three months'

I binge watched Prime the night before I left for Melbourne, and I absolutely loved it. It was a love letter to Sonic while also being its own thing, and it also itched that itch I have where I am obsessed with Multiverse nonsense or Time Travel or anything Sci-Fi.
EDIT: A detail I love is that the password for Tails' workshop is 1992, the year Sonic 2 came out and the first appearance of my boi Miles "Tails" Prower.
I love what they did with Sonic's character in Sonic Prime. It reminds me a lot of Sonic Underground which has been my favorite Sonic show for years. Sonic loving chili dogs a bit too much and being way more of an airhead is something these two Sonic's share, which I personally find super charming.
Even the setting of New Yoke City in Sonic Prime is a lot like the setting in Sonic Underground. They are both dystopian worlds that Eggman has taken over. I'm obsessed with Sonic and dystopian worlds, so this show was almost made for me. I love the other worlds too (especially the pirate one, love pirates), but having the enemies in the dystopian world become the enemies of the other Shatterverses makes me love the show even more. Can't wait to see how the Jungle Shatterverse deals with these foes.
Overall, I'm in love with Sonic Prime and can't wait for the next season (if Netflix would be so kind and not drop season 2 entirely). I'm super excited to see how they deal with Sonic's and Shadow's conflict in the next season.
Fun fact:
Two voice actors from Lego Ninjago are here and ironically enough one of them was Deven Mack (he played Skull Sourcerer/Vengelis) and the other is Vincent Tong (who played Kai but he also played his dad being Ray)
Which makes it hilarious since if you watched Lego Ninjago. They are battling each other again except the good/bad roles were reversed lmao

I love the show! I hope they do more! They really did hire people that was going to do the show justice. I love that they're showing more of Rouge, I guess if they have Shadow, they should have her too. Her and Knuckles dynamic is a breath of fresh air, it's way better than what writers have been doing with his dynamic with Amy. Honestly I was hoping to see Bunny Rabbot~

For what I have seen the animators says the first season will have 24 episodes but it will be released in parts but please watch it now for them to know that they have a demand for more seasons.
As soon as they were talking about the palm tree, I was insane like this is definitely a kingdom hearts reference and everything just started reminding me a kingdom hearts. Also, since I work at Zara, we do sell Stranger Things and Sonic clothes, but it’s only in the kid section.
I think it's really good overall but, since you drew attention to rouge...
Yeah, I love her jungle look, it's very nice and I like that her eye shadow is different in each universe but it also makes me question, why is her makeup on point in situations where she's more trying to survive than anything? Though Reble rouge seems to have more natural coloring... idk something I noticed.
Also, yhe different shoe and glove upgrades are cool too, but underutilized overall I feel.
I think it's wonderful. A lot of people *coughtwitteruserscough* hate the personality Sonic was given but honestly it makes so much sense? He's literally all about being fast, so him rushing into situations without stopping for a second to think about them just works. It also gives him a chance to have an arc instead of being a two-dimensional hero that knows exactly how to save the day. Conflict and character development are just more compelling to watch.
I also hate that they split up the 24 episodes into 8 episode releases...the episodes clearly cut to credits with the intention to keep watching the following episodes.
For my first Sonic Show, this is incredible! And the cast was perfectly selected. But the animation is phenomenal and so fluid.
I also enjoy the Japanese version of Sonic X (English dub censored and changed some stuff), season 3 in particular.
you know, I heard a lot about how Sonic is written kind of like he's neurodivergent (ASD or ADHD) in the sow and that's why a lot of the story actually happens
Prime Sonic tends to struggle with understanding tone/intent a lot of the time (doesn't realize Prim is using him, same with thorn; doesn't realize why shadow's mad at him during their fight etc), he can be impulsive and hyperverbal without even doing so on purpose (him telling Thorn 'Eh not really' matter-of-factly and not in a jokey/sarcastic way after she asks him if he ever stops talking)
and honestly?? I find that to be a pretty cool reading of his character, it makes sense
Honestly I was so hyped watching this show! The Jungle biome episodes weren't my favorite but I adored Rouge and Amy's designs! So far I like Dread Knuckles (Who is voiced by Kai Ninjago aka Vincent Tong) also there has been so much going on in my brain relationship wise in this show.
I like how it specifically works on friendship and family, but I'm tied between shipping Sonic and Amy cuz of their dynamic, Sonic and Shadow because I love snapcube, and Sonic and Dread Knuckles simply because nothing about their relationship seems straight or platonic.
I could also just go with them all being good pals who casually flirt with each other. Either works.
Any who super excited to watch the upcoming seasons!
First, i didn't know you liked Sonic, that's amazing!! Second, I loved the show. Yes, it isn't perfect but it got some genuine laughs out of me with some jokes and scenes, and keeping in mind that this is made for kids (yes, it's rated 7+), I can't really say much about what they changed for the writing to make sense: there's a leson to be learnt and Sonic is the medium for the audience to learn said leson. Also, this series is absolute nuts (in a good way) so I can't take it as serious as, let's say Frontiers. It's a dumb, funny series to have a good time and enjoy some adventures with Sonic and everyone else. It's great, I liked it a lot.
In the show he didnt travel back to his own dimension, it was just a flashback, they were just super excessive though
Shadow is very much a comfort character for me, so I'm really looking forward to the rest of the show
I really liked the show! Voice actors were great, animation was stunning, my only complaint was (as you said) too much action. I liked how the battles flowed, but they often felt dragged out or like we kept getting fights back to back to back. Overall, I am excited for the next drop of episodes, whenever that may be.
I actually have this long (paragraphs long) theory on how Shadow will have a major role going forward.
When viewing it with the whole 24....28? I forgot.. episodes in mind , the first eight becomes the set up.
There was a synopsis released a bit ago that stated Sonic would be helped by Shadow and I think we'll get that from ep 9 onwards!
There's a whole lot of details I'm cutting out rn because I'm eating but I'm near convinced!
Unless the mandates tackle a well written Shadow down (...as per usual) , I'm convinced in my words at what will play out.

Just finished watching the 8 episode of the new Sonic cartoon... gotta say...
I'm very impressed with it! Especially on the animation front. TV CGI has come so far since Beast Wars. Show has done a good job of handling tone so far with drama, comedy and action... for the most part.
I do wish we got to see more worlds outside of dystopia, pirate and jungle worlds. But hey, that's what the second season is for... right?
The voice acting cast is pretty decent too. I didn't really miss the Sonic voices like Roger Craig Smith or Mike Pollock, though I will admit... I might need to get used to Prime Knuckles voice... at least the vanilla one... I'm guessing since Idris Elba voiced him in the second Sonic movie, I guess they got someone to mimic his voice or something... really weird voice...
Calling it now: just bringing the prism pieces back together isn’t going to be enough. The Chaos Emeralds are going to be needed to finalize it.
If the rest of the chaos emeralds are not involved or super Sonic and super shadow not involved and other variants of Sonic like Classic Sonic not involved then I am not watching Sonic prime because I doubt that Sonic and Shadow fight will be long
Seeing Deven's voice coming out of Sonic sprites in the show is pretty nostalgic seeing as his roots from back in the day were in sprite cartoons on Newgrounds haha
I watched Sonic Prime with my younger sister (who's the one that introduced me to Sonic) and she went ballistic. She loves the show, because of all the attention to detail (working in game elements like rings and chaos emeralds, the flicks, etc.) and she has always loved the more story-driven adventure (Sonic X, Sonic Underground) and she really missed it. She said to me "I'm so glad they're back to this". (She wasn't a fan of the Sonic Boom tv show, although she likes its humour well enough).
I actually have three minor criticisms
1: There was (like you said) a little too much action. I sometimes feel action is used as filler in lieu of actual writing, a way to artificially lengthen a visual piece of media without having to do any real writing. You could cut down on some of the action in favour of world building, or character interaction and development or STORY PROGRESS. But then again, I'm not an action-person, so things like action films or lengthy action scenes are not for me. Take it with a pinch of salt.
2: The jungle world was weirdly empty. Green Hills felt lived in, the city world gave the impression of being densely populated, the pirate world - well - it's a large ocean. It's normal to sail for days without bumping into others. But the jungle world? With the tribe above? Why was that only four people? It felt weirdly empty, especially with the exploitation-protection theme. I really wish the tribe above had been made of more than just four people, or at least, that there was an explanation for why there are only five people living in this huge jungle - like maybe the others left or SOMETHING. idk, it's irritating to me. To make up for consisting of only FOUR PEOPLE, they really had to go OTT with how FOUR PEOPLE managed to SINGLE-HANDEDLY exploit and abuse the jungle. Coulda been avoided if they'd just- had a bigger base population to work with, instead of just FOUR PEOPLE.
3: I dislike how the season ended (like.... that's- that's not a season end-), but that's not the show-runners fault and more an issue with Netflix (see how they cut up Cuphead, the first instance of a forced "multi-season" Netflix cartoon).
This show has been so much fun to watch with my boyfriend, its now one of my favourite Sonic cartoons, its everything I love about Man of Action style of writing put into one show. c:
Also yes I'm happy that Shadow is in but I'm also happy that Rouge gets more screen time and love so I appreciate that a lot too. I would of been likely confused by this show as a kid but would I love the hell outta it just being seeing different versions of the characters, universes and such.

They should finish the last 12 episodes for sonic underground I think.
I genuinely loved this show. Growing up I loved the various sonic cartoons (sonic underground and sonic x especially) and it's nice to see a new show giving the franchise what it deserves. As a younger kid I probably would've hated how little shadow is seen, but now that I'm older (and realized my own sexuality) I love seeing the incredibly designs for Amy. I just wish she wasn't the only one who is seen as a villain for two of the three worlds seen so far. So looking forward to future seasons.
Sonic is a teenager who knows he's the main character and neglected his friends. (just like Sega). Each Character has his/her strength and depth that needs to be explored. This show did everything right by playing by the core rules, doing things its own way, and just being really thrilling to watch as a Sonic fan. They ended the year of Sonic correctly when I had so much doubt for Sonic this year. Was this better than Sonic 2 (movie)? We'll wait and see...
I'm pretty sure that Sonic doesn't get transported back to his world temporarily, causing a power outage in the process. I think that he just blacks out after whatever he did, remembers what happened with Shadow, then wakes up.

Well it isn't the worst but Rouge could have gone something that actually was like a bit more fashion forward if you know what I'm saying because like they don't have to have her things be showing it's just that maybe they could have gave Rouge like a more interesting outfit but in my opinion I rate it a four out of five since it's not that bad

For me, the show is great. I watch shows on netflix with my native dub and eng subs, to compare translations and they didn't mess up much. Animation is ok. Nothing bad, but also nothing special. The plot is great, I adore Nine, now he stand next to Silver when it comes for being my favorite characters form sonic universe. And yes, shadow did absolutely nothing and for now, I think he's just for fanservise, like in Sonic boom. Action don't bother me too much. Actually in plot is opposite to Sonic Boom and I like it (ofc Sonic Boom isn't bad, it's great comedy with one-shot episodes). I recommended this show for my friends who don't know much about Sonic, that's a great start for now to learn the franchise, and of course, to let know netflix that this show is selling, please give me more Nine Netflix I swear-

Hello I am hyperfixated on Sonic stuff right now and CZcams reccomended me this video and now i am subscribed to you. Crazy how things happen.
I like how the chaos council is like, all the versions of eggman we would get in the other worlds but in just 1 world
they are 5, we probably will have 6 worlds (red, green blue, yellow, cyan, magenta) with the last one being the uninhabited world nine found (so no eggman for that one)
probably a result of eggman holding onto the crystal while it was being shattered
I only just realized looking at the show, if you just stop and think for a second, there are subtle hints pretty much everywhere, like Bigs number in the Eggmans universe is 1998 which is when Big was introduced, also every universe so far is focused on each character like the Eggmans universe is Tails, the Water Universe is Knuckles and the Jungle Universe is Amy. Not to mention the Paradox Prism shards are all made up of green hill, Red is Energy or bad nicks/eggman, green is the greenery of green hill and the blue one is water of green hill, the only one we don’t know about yet is green hill. But I assume the next universe is going to be Rouge. I’ve also noticed that Sonic and Shadow are not in any universe that sonic created or whatever when he smashed the shard which would make sense since shadow teleported out before the blast hit him and sonic got sent into the shard.

This isn’t the end of season 1 by the way. Instead of weekly releases, Netflix compromised by releasing episodes in batches instead. It’s their way of trying to satisfy both binge-watchers and casual(?)-watchers

My one complaint with the show Is I wanted silver to appear at least for a moment to know what he was doing. But other that I loved it amazing show
Sonic Boom is my fave Somic show, this one has my attetntion and watched it when it first aired. Yet Sonic Boom will always have a place in my heart, even more so the relationship Sonic and Amy have.
This show was surprisingly fun creative and willing to try new things that weren't as cringey as I imagined. But in all seriousness sonic has been going good.
Netflix is really bad at this with Cartoons. They split up what they have of the first season so that there are these midseason cliffhangers (like they did with Cuphead). If they’re gonna do that, why not just release weekly?
My favorite detail is the fact that when sonic goes fast his feet turn into an infinity shape it's just such a cool call back to the games

The fact that the 'season 1' of this show is secretly only a third of a complete storyline explains a lot of the pacing issues I pondered during my watchthrough, like - How are they're going to fit this whole multiverse plot into 8 single episodes? Why are we meandering in one world for 3 whole episodes if we want time to flesh the others? Why episode 7 is still in pirate world and not already preparing for the season finale?! Why other world's storyline felt almost 'forgotten' once we entered a new world? (It's kinda addressed near the end of the season but still).
So knowing in hindsight that we technically still in act 1 explains a lot of this, though it's still s bummer netflix organized it that way.
I'm happy that they're all being treated like people with their own flaws and agency. Even Sonic has room to develop.
I'll cry in the corner since my favorite character is Cream the Rabbit.
I loved Prime, I was very cautiously optimistic because I'm honestly a little tired of the multiverse trend all around current media, but this show handled it in smart ways that made me actually feel invested, the fact that we're focusing on one universe variant as the "main" one (the Chaos Council one) and the others are going to be getting invaded by them makes it so much more interesting than if it were just Sonic traveling from world to world winning every battle and collecting rocks... The way the wrote Sonic is definitely not my favorite, I prefer him having a more flat style character arc where he's a positive force of nature that inspires others through his actions rather then him being reckless and kinda dumber than usual, but I can at least live with it since I really love how all the other characters are portrayed, Shadow surprised me especially since he's been poorly handled for years and his role in this show so far makes me pretty excited! I also hope to see a lot more of him next season, and maybe some flashbacks to SA2 pretty please...? If I had to criticize it, I'd say the humor definitely doesn't always land but as a "kids show" I can let it slide, the chilli dog stuff definitely needs to slow down a bit though... Anddd I kinda wish it had more music from the games tbh! The one time they use music from Sonic 3 on the Knuckles flashback was really cool! Also the pixel art in those flashbacks could be wayyy nicer tbh... Otherwise, really exciting show, can't wait for Season 2!

You know, nines uhhh....tails? The mechanical ones really reminded me of Donnie from Rise Of The tmnt and I really loved that speaking of rise- I really want to see you cover it! It's an amazing show that was ruined because of nostalgia
I’m studying environmental science. And when you view each world from an environmental viewpoint, it so weirdly hilarious how you see different examples of habitat destruction.
Now first, while green hill is refer to as a “forest”, it really is a grassland of some sort.
Now first universe show human habitat destruction by over urbanization. The second universe, show forestation of a grassland. Which is a EXTREME problem when it come to grasslands in particular. The last world? It’s literally the ice caps melting and the ocean flooding the land!
It's fun/funny & the references R neat to incredible at times. Shadow is pretty decent so far which is incredible to me(Shadow in Prime for me is like the @CircleToonsHD joke vid for Frontiers where a 6-7 is like a Ten for Sonic fans lol & I'm fine wit that so we'll see where it goes). Only 8 eps sucks but whateves. Surprised me in a few ways & I'm curious where it goes. Solid 6/10. For me as long as he stays consistent in the games (which admittedly is iffy at best these days) I'm fine wit side material that isn't apart of the main timeline doin wut they want. It's not the "best" SONIC show(SX) or even "best" show wit sonic in it(SatAM, Boom, X again) but it's prob at least the 2nd best animated show we've had. I'm not a fan of the way they animate the characters like wit the mouths & some scenes jus don't look very "good" to me(like when they fall down the stairs all stiff) but the action is pretty cool at times. The voice actin is pretty good overall (except for the main knuckles he was HORRIBLE & idk if it's the direction or ill fitted voice choice) & Rouge is prob my fav on that front which is cool cus I like the VA from her bein Rarity in MLP. Rusty is my fav character so far & that's RARE considerin Amy on the whole is usually pretty low on the list for me(except maybe boom). I liked learnin bout the diff versions of the characters(I didn't care for their main counterparts lol). I feel as though the 1st ep was best & it teetered from there but it was still enjoyable all the way through. I've got other things to say but Imma stop here for now till the rest of the show but overall fun & I'd recommend to almost anyone

After watching the Sonic X anime Shadow is my favorite character for no reason. Also you and your partner are wholesome.
LOVED SONIC FRONTIERS! THE GAMEPLAY, THE MUSIC, EVERYTHING! So glad my lil sis bought me the game for Christmas. As for Sonic Prime, I did enjoy it, so I'm waiting for the rest of season 1. However, I kind of liked the TV show Sonic Boom more for some reason. And of course, Sonic X is top tier.
I do agree, the show can be a bit _too_ overstimulating at times (I needed to watch various episodes again because I'd missed a few details) but you gotta admit, it is a breath of fresh air to see that much movement for Sonic - or, 3D animated shows in general (Miraculous Ladybug, Jimmy Neutron, Trollhunters - say whatever opinions you have, they're all pretty stiff in animation).
Especially since the Sonic animation standard was set to Boom's.
Which is. ok well Boom was funny but they sure never moved.
