- Achievements can make doing random things in video games more fun than we ever thought possible. They can also make doing a task the single most infuriating part of playing a game. I've got 10 more worst achievements that make me never want to complete a game ever again.

Wow the stanley parable guy sounds great
Suspicious
Hmmmm...
You wouldn't happen to know that guy, would you? I wonder who it was? 🤔
i agree
It's a real shame the guy wasn't put in the description. I guess we'll never know who that guy was.
My wife has been working on the “No hold, No T spin, no Tetris” in Tetris 99 for months. As soon as she heard you say Tetris 99 she knew exactly which one would be your number 1. Great video!
Honestly it would only have been doable when the game first dropped back when there were a load of casual players. The only people that play now (for the most part) are Tetris veterans who are absolutely using T spins and holds putting you at a serious disadvantage right away.
I’ll be honest, I don’t know how to do half of those things, I guess because I’ve mostly played old versions of Tetris, so I never learned them. Not that I’m good, just stuck in my ways.
r/Tetris99 guy here, the worst of those by a lot is actually the 10-players-or-fewer one...
Now I want Caddy to replace the narrator for The Stanley Parable
It's caddy wow.
I came to ask, him sounding calm threw me off and I wasn't sure if it was him 😅
I wanted to guess caddy, but that felt too obvious
I feel so stupid for not realizing this at first, despite him being my favourite youtuber!
No, I think it's more Great British Baking Show-esque (please tell me someone else has heard of this thing.)
I actually accidentally earned the original "Go Outside" achievement for the Stanley Parable. If I had decided to play it like a week earlier I would have completely ruined my chance to earn it.
From a musical perspective the name Coda makes a lot of sense. Taking the codas of Chopin's ballades as an example, they are at the end of the pieces, intense, fast, and an absolute nightmare to learn and play.
I mean, each of the main characters were named after an element of music. First is Cadence, which is relatively simple, two or more chords that end a piece of music (simplified, but, essentially correct). Melody is second (longer, more complicated, more involved, I really don't know music theory but I think I'm right here). Aria is the last, which is "a self-contained piece for one voice, with or without instrumental or orchestral accompaniment, normally part of a larger work." which.... sounds really hard.
Makes sense coda is a step further than that.
@@stevenn1940 that's brilliant! Definitely gonna try this game at some point
@@caspervnm27 oh it's a brilliant game. I'm bad at it, and adore it
@@stevenn1940 Aria’s are notorious. The old adage about the fat lady singing is explicitly referencing arias. It’s true that some can be easy. Songs like Part of Your World from The Little Mermaid as an example. But aLOT are these grandstanding moments to showcase the ability of the composer or performer. School directors will often pick shows based on whether or not the current talent pool can service the more difficult parts of a given work, the aria being a big tipping point.
been a LONG time since I read sheet music. Is that when you reach the end of sheet music and it tells you to replay a part of it with the double bar end in the middle, as they want you to replay a small portion of the middle as the end notes?
I want to see a top ten list of Jirards favorite games to compete (not his favorite games) but what to him are the most rewarding games to complete itself regardless of game quality over the other
shocked he hasn’t done this yet?
this!
I have the Go Outside achievement for the original Stanley Parable game.
Didn't know they doubled it on on the reboot/update... That's insane!
As a diehard halo fan for almost 15 years, I've never once heard someone pronounce it like "Lay-so"
I have heard "lasso", "lay-so" and "lay-zo"
"Lay-soh" would be more grammatically correct than "La-soh" due to the single "s"
The worst part of a BS achievement is when it’s only worth a bronze trophy.
what I love about the stanley parable's achievements is that the dev must of made them to mess with people, they even made fun of them in their "sequel" 😂
They also had an achievement in the original demo version of the game which removed itself if you played through the demo
must've*
In fact, I'm looking at the game's achievements now, and it's hard to believe that one of them actually says "TEST ACHIEVEMENT PLEASE IGNORE"!.
"Infallible" from Fall Guys required you to win 5 multiplayer games in a row, which meant winning 5 60-player Battle Royale games, which included team rounds where you could get paired up with random players.
Nowadays it's a lot easier with alternate shows like Sweet Thieves, but it used to be virtually impossible.
Honestly Stanley Parable's placement makes sense on this list, as someone whos still doing said achievement in the first/ original TSP (2 more years to go I think?) its a pain in the ass just as much as the Tuesday one. But maybe the Narrator would be proud of me for choosing the best choice to touch grass lol.
You can do it! I got Go Outside legit, even keeping track of my game between different gaming rigs. It felt good, eventually.
@@trident042 LMAO nice, this comment made my day. Once I get my "backlog" of games done maybe it would be the time to redownload Stanley LMAO
To be fair, it's still way easier than the baby game. At least I don't have to do anything to get the achievement. :V
Sad part about the Go Outside achievement is that if you change your PC, you have to restard counting again.
@@TheMetalOverlord No, that's specifically what I'm saying did NOT occur. I had one PC, played on Steam, and when I got a new gaming PC, Steam remembered my last play date and I got the achievement on time.
To the ESO one at number 2, here is my advice. First you need a character who has gotetn to level 50 and has gotten to the 720 champion rank. This is like a day or two of grinding to max it out. Now you make a brand new character. Champion Points are cross-character so you can get your new level 1 character to be more powerful. The reason you want this as well, between level 1-49 you get access to the weaker PvP area, the one where beginners will likely hang out. When a new week starts for PvP, immediately ask people if you can join a group, and you stick with them. If enemies come along, try to steal any kills you can. If a point appears that can be taken, stand on the point. If your team is organised (and hopefully the other 2 aren't) you can easily take the 6 keeps within 3-4 hours, and if you've been the MVP then you will hopefully be number 1 and claim the Emperor position. I made it to rank 2 through this without even trying, and it has been a consistent strategy according to those that I am in contact with.
I have a video idea! "Top ten games that I will never complete" I'm sure there are loads of games that you like that you can't talk about on the channel because they are so hard to complete (or just cant be completed), it would be cool to see these games get some love!
Loved hearing Caddy do voice acting for the Stanley Parable! ^_^
I'd like to hear the backstory of that narration!!
Can't wait for the Stanly Parable Delux episode in 10 years.
Number 1 reminds me of how Fall Guys has an achievement for winning 5 full games in a row. It's much more doable now, but at launch it was borderline impossible due to team games that were just pure luck whether you won or not. For example, the only way you can contribute in Team Tail Tag is by having one tail. You can keep it the ENTIRE time, but if your team is bad you still lose. Not to mention early on the game was filled to the brim with hackers. Somehow I managed to get this achievement after enough grinding, but it took waaaay too much time AND luck.
The only way I managed this achievement was to grind the Sweet Thieves event, since getting lucky in a single team game five times in a row is far more manageable than the regular game. Now if I could just coordinate a play session with some friends and go on to win a full game, then I'd have all the achievements...
I remember killzone 2 having 3 trophies that were basically(numbers are probably wrong)
Bronze: Get top %10 on worldwide leaderboard
Silver:Get top %7 on worldwide leaderboards
Gold: Get top %1 on worldwide leaderboards
Idk how, but I managed to get the 2 easier ones, and it felt so fucking bizarre.
All I know is I recall it being shortly after midnight on a weekend(Saturday night-sunday morning) so I always figured maybe I just lucked out and they just "refreshed" leaderboards(if they even work like that).
I always wished (in sony's case) they would separate online and single player trophies, because it sucks how many games I can't even bother with trophies because they're a fee years old but have dead player bases
Me and the boys spent like 10 hours trying to grind Infallible, it sucked. Especially when, as PC players, our runs were very prone to getting destroyed by hackers. We should've went back when they had the custom queue that was literally just Jump Showdown, but at that point none of them cared anymore. Sad.
That trophy/achievement immediately came to mind when I heard the Tetris one.
The Super Go Outside achievement for Stanley Parable is fortunately easy on PC by changing your system clock, otherwise I also would have been frustrated by it, I sadly didn't learn about the Tuesday achievement until after I had already 100%'d the rest of the game..
ok so i have an embarrassingly huge amount of hours in tetris 99, but i've never paid attention to most of the achievement icons. hearing those achievements really had me shocked
I think the achievement for Tetris 99 is a callback to NES Tetris, which didn't have T-Spins or a hold queue. It's still a popular way to play. So much, that they added a whole mode in Tetris Effect that emulates it.
More then a regular middle finger while slapped In the face, then missing once crate In *ANY* Crash Bandicoot Game, that's for sure!
Especially in a long, difficult level I really know the pain
It was a slap to the face for sure in the classic titles. But missing a single crate in any level in Crash 4 was like getting kicked in the nuts. Every level after world 1 had more crates in them than the longest and hardest levels of original trilogy
@@Etriel321 yeah I agree missing one crate in crash 4 was annoying and painful than the PS1 games tbh
@@Etriel321 And more than that... They intentionally hide crates in places that are literally impossible to see half the time.
@@FelisImpurrator *has flashbacks to the crates hidden inside the tires*
My god those tetris achievements are crazy. And anyone who has ever gotten them must be amazing or very very lucky.
As an achievement/trophy hunter, there have been some crazy ones that get thrown in a easy list that drive me nuts. Mein Leiben mode in Wolfenstein New Colossus was brutal
Out of all the achievements why did they give us the down die once one in a game where on the highest difficulty you can die it 2 seconds or less
Jirard talked about that one in the first video
That achievement was mentioned in his first/other video on 10 hardest achievements
Oh nice. Sorry I missed that one. Appreciate it
If you ever make a third of these, you have GOT to include the John Suit, Tv Purple, and Dark Cook clothes from Pizza Tower.
Missed opportunity for them to have called the 'Mr. Perfect' achievement, 'Perfect-Man'
Caddy has a shockingly good narrator voice
As someone who has spent an unhealthy amount of time playing Tetris 99 (over 1000 hours last time I checked, and that's AFTER my play time got reset) I am proud to say that out of the achievements you mentioned I've obtained all but one. I've gotten really close to the last one many times but never managed to secure it.
Crypt of the Necrodancer is hard to begin with! I ... couldn't get past level 2. I accidentally stayed up til 8 am playing and still couldn't beat it. And that's when I put down the game forever and never tried it again.
However, I *loved* Cadence of Hyrule!
I got Necrodancer back in 2021 of September for my birthday. I beat cadence's story a month later and Aria's in November of last year. I forget when I beat Melody's though 🤔
Loved seeing this sequel to one of my favorite Completionist videos ever!! (side note: I also love when Jirard rants about a terrible achievement in the game's specific episode too, makes me feel less like I was the *only* one struggling with it, see: shadow of mordor) As soon as I heard the entry for #8 begin with talking about Final Fantasy, I knew it had to be that damned jump rope achievement. Runner up guess would have been dodging the lightning strikes in FF10. Still haven't gotten that jump rope one myself, can't blame ya for skipping it!!!!
I never realized that about coda in crypt of the necrodancer. Never actually unlocked her. I was proud as hell when I beat the game with aria, who, to be clear, has most of the restrictions coda has (one hp, dies if you miss a beat, can only use a dagger). But damn, adding monk (touching gold = death) and double speed..?
I never unlocked coda because you have to do an all characters run and you CANNOT die no matter what. Heck, I've gotten to Necrodancer as Cadence and died. Also, you have to do zone 5 in order to fight Dead Ringer instead and you start with 3 hearts instead of 5 if you unlocked every upgrade in Necrodancer.
Hey Jirard, this is my first time commenting on your channel, but I just want to give you my thanks. You’re the main reason why I recently got back into playing video games after a long time of not playing. Your videos are both informative and entertaining and gives me some ideas of games I want to play. Keep up the good work, man. You and your crew deserve all the success in life.
I try my best to complete games 100% but over the years some achievements make me really annoyed. I am proud of some crazy achievements I have gotten but others are down near impossible and should never had been made.
Or, maybe, some are meant for people who are crazy enough and you are not owed gamer score for buying a a game
I think that a video on the worst platinum would be cool too, one that sticks out to me is Tower Unite, game is online only, has 500+ achievements, some of which are dedicated to placing 1st in minigames no one plays, among other things
i have never felt more seen than hearing one of my favorite creators talk about those tetris achievements... some of those felt like they were impossible
"How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Saucer" from FFXIV deserves to be on this list somewhere. It requires getting 7 other achievements, some of which require months-long grinds. You can do them all at once, but that still means months of work, all for just a character title
There is an even harder and rarer achievement which is entirely rng based and near impossible to get; you have to get a rare thief map from doing map dungeons, unlock a portal in which you pick three doors (normally it's two) and must get to the bottom...20 times.
I beeeelieve around 0.1% of players if not less have the title, it's insane!
Oh no, and MMO achievement that takes a long time. No one tell him about "What a long strange trip it's been" in WoW
@@OhNoTheFace First, *an
Second, there's a difference between achievements that take a while and those that are luck-based. To get one of the prerequisites for the Saucer achievement in a reasonable amount of time, you have to win the literal in-game lottery
6:03 Is- Is that a wild Caddy?!
Always love these trophies/achievement videos. They can get completely nuts, sometimes.
Great video man! Few comments on the list:
8: When I saw FF9 I thought this was going to be about the pseudo speedrun of the game you have to do in order to get Steiner's ultimate weapon but I wasn't expecting jump rope. It can be done with macros if you have something Corsair iCue (or equivalent for other PC gaming hardware) but if an achievement pretty much requires a macro it sucks for sure.
5. I don't think I've heard anyone pronounce it L-AY-SO, I've always heard L-AH-SO. Anyway the LASO achievements are such a nightmare. Completing just one is an extreme challenge. Completing four is hell. Completing four and one of them is Halo 2 is eldritch horror. Halo 2 is infamous for how hard legendary is in that game. A few years ago myself and some of my friends decided to do each of the Halo campaigns on legendary co-op. Out of the seven games that were out at the time there were only two that we didn't beat and went back down to Heroic, one was Halo 5 and the other was Halo 2. The only way I beat it solo was using the scarab gun. Hell, even one of the members of Bungie described it as "A whole new sick twist on game difficulty"
1. It was probably unintentional but I was hit with a wave of nostalgia hearing you give a rant about insane things you have to do for completion while Tetris 'A' theme plays in the back. I know those days are long over but hey.
I hope we get to see a New Pokemon Snap video sometime! It's probably in my top 3 switch games. Finding EVERY interaction was so much fun
Regarding that New Pokemon Snap achievement, i was one of maybe 10 people in the world who got that one before they patched it from 1.000.000 to 100.000. It actually only took me a few months, and it could have taken you less than that with the help of a single tweet.
Once you get a single picture on the trending page, you can essentially secure that every picture you ever post from there on out also gets on the trendning page, since people will check out your profile and give medals to your other pictures. Post or repost a single picture daily to make sure you always have a picture on the trending page (they got automatically removed after a week) and you essentially have a passive income of around 10k medals every day as long as you take 5 minutes out of your day to get on the game post a new picture. The only issue is breaking through to the trending page for the first time, something that wouldn't be an issue for you. You only needed about 800 medals to break through, something you could get in 30 minutes with a single tweet of your profile name lmao
I have the VR missions trophy (and platinum) in MGS2, which was certainly a tough challenge. Especially some of the MGS1 Snake missions.
I love achievements, it was amazing when I found out about RetroAchievements thanks to a CZcams video, that being said, there's so, SO many extremely hard and basically inhuman achievements out there, awesome video.
Edit: That was Caddicarus narrating the Stanley Parable entry? WHAT? I didn't even notice.
Cool video guys! Yeah, I've stopped doing those trophies where the devs are just trying to make you do stupid time-wasting things or things so awkward they don't intend you to do in the first place. Also online trophies that require you to play in parties for over 20 hours or need certain number of players, screw that bs.
If you want a trophy based Tetris game, try and complete Tetris Effect. Those trophies are the hardest I have ever done imo. good list as always!
I feel like Splatoon 3 could throw it's hat in the ring for this... You have to do the following for the game to be considered "complete", at least in my eyes:
- Complete the story and dlc (when it comes out)
- Get all the clothing
- Complete all the Wandercrust Journeys (Found on NSO)
- Collect all tableturf cards and sleeves
- Collect the maximum of all stickers/locker things (10 for each, with a few small exceptions)
- And finally, collect all the badges. There are currently 323 and there are only more being added, as we're in season two of at least eight.
Some of the badges themselves are hard, there's only a handful of players to my knowledge that have some of the rarest badges, that take a large time dump to even think about getting.
Walk away from Stanley Parable rather than work on the "go outside" achievement? But if you walk away and stop playing Stanley Parable, you *are* working on the "go outside" achievement...
I fully agree about that 3-wins-in-a-row Tetris 99 achievement. It's the only one I have out of the five you listed, so I must display it proudly!
Caddicarus makes a damn good narrator.
Im glad to see the coda achievement in this list.. that one still haunts me as i know ill never get 100% on it T_T
I was gonna try to unlock every character in necrodancer for the switch but it requires me to do an all character run. And I can't even make it past Cadence's story.
The Mr Perfect love during the Mr Perfect MM10 entry warms my wrasslin' spirit
Hey there! I run a Discord dedicated to a single Tetris 99 achievement you listed - winning 10 Team Battles on teams of 10 players or fewer. There’s a lot that we as a community do here - stack one team so the other teams are smaller, then when we see a team of 10 or less, we knock out the competition and then top out ourselves to give the win to the small team so they can have progress. We’ve pushed just about 60 people over the finish line since our community’s inception but are always looking to help more! If you happen to be on a small team and see a big bad player with all the badges KO everyone except you and then just immediately top out…it was probably someone from The Sharpshooter Army trying to make your life just a little bit easier.
And a great community it is.
In regards to #7: Setting your system clock 10+ years in the future from where the last save was will pop the achievement as soon as you start the game. It's a weird achievement, yes, but the easiest to cheese. Not worth a spot on this list in my opinion.
This has metal gear solid 3 sniper boss vibes, tbh
I had to employ this exact tactic to complete FEZ and Psychonauts.
But that's cheating! Cheating is serious. You know what happens when you do something that serious?
He's prob too dumb to realise you can do that, Jirad is not the sharpest tool in the shed.
"You wouldnt adjust the clock on your car"
FYI for any aspiring game devs like me watching this - if you can't complete an achievement in your own game that you made, you should probably either tweak or remove that achievement.
Don't just leave it in as-is and hope some player crazy enough would complete it for you - that's a surefire way of causing enough frustration to make it on a list like this.
Everyone of all those achievements Sounds Super fun to complete. Nice video, Jirard
Love this series, really shows how hard completing most games are!!!
Have you seen the achievement list for the game Hyper Rogue? 304 achievements in a randomized roguelike that takes place on a hyperbolic plane, which pretty much means the way you move and the world moves will break your brain as you figure out each areas unique qualities and treasures.
honorable mention: Pizza Tower's "TV Purple" outfit.
yes, it's not an achievement, but you can collect it. What it requires is getting a P rank on every stage in the game (expect boss stages and the crumbling tower of pizza). You gotta do every thing there is in a stage: get all the secrets, collect the treasure, earn enough points for an S rank, and maintain a combo from start to finish. It can take a lot of time to master all the stages in the game, but atleast the gameplay is extremely satisfying.
for COTND you're also forgetting about the achievment for All Chars mode, which not only requires you to beat the game with Coda but also EVERY other character in the game, all back-to-back with no deaths. Necrodancer is going to give so many people arthiritis.
Absolutely adored the first video thanks for the update
i feel like one of the worst type of achievements is the "die by x thing for x amount of times" they’re never hard to do, it’s just so… lame..
Much love! Keep doing what you do!
I kind of feel like you could do an "Everything BUT" video for Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe, explain that you're now working on that achievement and promise to report back on it in ten years no matter what (even if the internet is dead).
+
I freaking love these worst achievements videos please make this a series
I literally got the 999 ticket one today for Tetris 99 and yeah, it's pretty annoying, especially when the tickets only get themes and not even like icons or somthing
Alright, kudos on entry number 7.
That was rather funny!
Haa!
Wonderful to hear Caddicarus working with Jirard.
😄👍
"People say lay-so"
No human I have ever heard of says lay-so.
Man I love this series. More please!
Hey, Tetris99 player with ~400h here :) I'm currently grinding the badge for the 3 consecutive wins, this one really is rough :/ The one where you can't hold pieces and can't do Tetris and T-spins actually isn't that bad since you can still use big combos to send lines, but yeah it's pretty weird at first haha The worst one in my opinion are the 5 wins with less than 10 teammates.. simply because it's so unlikely that you even get in a team like that! I've grinded it for quite a few hours now and saw a team like that twice (and they didn't even won) :'D There are entire Discord-Servers dedicated to helping you with this stupid badge.. But yeah anyways, great video! :)
Crypt of the necrodancer deserved the mention but man it's just insane why they did what the devs did
LittleBigPlanet has an achievement for being a developer
Besides owning hundreds of unlisted dlcs
You literally have to be a developer to get every achievement in the game
I can’t wait for Jirard to complain about the Happy New Year achievement when he finally plays Xenoblade. Have fun leaving the game on for 70+ hours.
Enjoying another Completionist video, and boy these achievements just sound insane. Good thing I'm not a complete completionist. And by that, I mean I'm not that insane to go for achievements, only just the ones that are rationally obtainable.
if you ever do a part 3 of this series, tf2's Metal massager achievement, requiring the player to destroy a whopping 1 million robots in mann vs machine mode should definitely make the cut. Tf2 youtuber Weezy calculated it would take 477 hour total of straight grinding the most optimized set up.
With #7, couldn't you just change the time and date of your system like Arkham City for the Calendar Man?
you can, but that's cheating
Ah yes, Emperor!, I have sunk many hours into TESO. You do have to be truly dedicated to it, you have to have the full support of your Guild. You have to do the most for your Alliance. *You have to do PVP.*
I'll sit pretty with Empieror, killing ten players who have been covered in pie.
I love your response to the super out go achievement
Metal gear solid two collecting every dog tag is a nightmare
Still one of my fav channels on CZcams
I live in central Massachusetts and I think it’s extremely funny that Jirard is doing a live show at the Middle East, a venue known mostly for hardcore and metal shows lmao
as soon as I heard "This is a story about a man named Jirard" I went "oh nooo, Super Go Outside...."
as funny as SGO is as an achievement concept, I feel like it just... ruins the possibility of completing the game entirely
To be fair, "Super Go Outside" is ludicrously easy to cheese. Just toy around with your system clock.
Honestly, I disagree with Super Go Outside being a bad achievement. If a normal game had an achievement that said not to play for 10 years? Yeah, that's ridiculous. But this is The Stanley Parable we're talking about. With how much the game pokes fun at gaming cliches and tropes, while also being a fever dream most of the time, the idea of this achievement isn't the craziest thing in the world. Most of the achievements in the game are just there as a joke, and Super Go Outside is no exception. What makes it even funnier is that people (myself included) will actually wait the full 10 years instead of just changing your PC/Console clock to trick the game into giving it to you. That's the beauty of the achievement, you can either get it the easy way or the absolute giga chad way.
That and since the first game had this same exact achievement it shouldn't surprise anyone that they raised the steaks lol
That is an amazing impression of the narrator!
It is true that the DMC one goes against the spirit of the game but it is precisely up my alley.
Ahhh "Go Outside" is a classic. I got that one last year.
Hell yeah, I knew Crypt of the Necrodancer was missing on the last top ten. I've always wanted to give Coda a try but my fingers disagree from playing bolt so adding dying in one hit and from touching gold would be too much for them and my sanity.
Worst achievement I'm up against now:
Darktide's "Going out with a bang" - on Malice difficulty have the psyker explode from perils of the warp, and kill 3 or more elite enemies.
>When the psyker explodes from perils he goes down and becomes a liability to the party.
>The explosion only does 500 damage (less than most elite health) and has a tiny area of effect.
>Elites don't bunch up in convenient groups regularly.
To categorize them?
10-8 and 6-5: Will do all of these eventually, but they'll take a while.
7: If I do an episode on this game, it'll be without this one having popped.
4-1: Disqualifying.
Playing Vivi's them over different FF cutscenes drastically changes the tone of the cutscene
When number 1 was about Tetris 99, i was very confused, especially since I’m just a casual Tetris player. But when hearing them, I just had to process those achievements. Not being able to do T spins is so hard, mainly since it’s instinct, as well as holding
Any achievement that requires competing and/or coordinating with others should be a separate category. I hate having so many games short on 100% just because they require me to play with/against someone.
Yup...
[*sheds a tear staring at the SINGLE missing trophy for Genshin*]
I've not seen a Jirard video in while now. I still just want to give him a hug. :)
How the hell did you know I was gonna yawn after that joke? Seriously. I'm kinda freaked out now!
that Stanley parable bit was awesome!
