Salamander, retitled Life Force in North America and in the Japanese arcade re-release, is a scrolling shooter arcade game by Konami. Released in 1986 as a spin-off of Gradius, Salamander introduced a simplified power-up system, two-player cooperative gameplay and both horizontally and vertically scrolling stages. Some of these later became normal for future Gradius games.
Salamander was followed with a sequel in 1996 titled Salamander 2.

*My 1980s NES childhood memories... Good/No Great times!!! (Starfield music stage 2)... "Cut through liver!!!"*
I used to beat this game a few times a week when I was a kid! Sadly, one of my "friends" stole it from me.
Sorry to hear that somebody stolen your game.
Similar thing happened to me with my copy of Karnov.
One of my favorite games in the Gradius series :)
this bring back memories. and somehow music reminds me of contra force
Great game.
This was my game back in the days. Love it.
Why Konami decided to radically change the story and setting of the game?
Salamander wasn't cool sounding enough?
Man, this makes me want to play Parodius.
Bom jogo ótimos gráficos
it is (was) a NES game with 25 colours on screen the graphics (visuals) are, look, seem awful, crap, dreadful, garbage, horrible, rubbish, terrible
Epico
Is this Gradius 2?
same universe as gradius
Gradius Spin-off. In some gradius (I think from the three if not the second as well) there is even cross over with some salamander bosses and with the music as well
Yes and no, I'm pretty sure Konami wanted the sequel to have a different name like how Galaga is basically Galaxian 2 then reverted to Gradius.
🖤🤍😀
Better than Gradius.
what?! only 1 option for the 2 players?! boring
