This game was the first video game my brother and I beat together. He just died last night, and I needed a piece of him back. Don't ever think for a moment that posting these old games is a waste of time.

The last time I did co-op with this game, my friend kept dying, depleting the 60 combined lives from the Konami code. We gave up halfway through the 3rd stage.
The genre seemed to die out. The genre branched out so you would have these and R-Type or vertical shooters like Galaga and Galaxian as well as Ikaruga and Touhou. It's amazing how diverse this genre once was. You had all these different shmups and now they're nowhere to be found.

never played this, but it's on my list for sure now for my NEs collection, my first goal is to collect all the 2 player NES co-ops games, not the lame ones where you take turns but the same time, contra, double dragon II etc, this looks fun hard to believe I missed it, but then again Super Nintendo was so good as well
My favorite "simultaneous 2 player" nes game. Completely subjective: I had no other one in that category! I had so much fun playing it again and again with a cousin. But when we were children, we never finished it, that 3rd level is too hard! Finished it on my own (it's easier on 1 player I think: you don't have to split the bonuses and waste less lives) as an adult though.

Don't know why but i see lot of resemblance between this game and Contra. These old games were really much better than todays games. Miss them a lot.
