  • So today we got behind time fixing our bikes and couldn't find the through axle we were looking for so it was just me and Rob running qualifying. Andy let Rob use his axle kindly and got some at the bottom of the hill.
    We took the wrong lift and were so pushed for time we had to walk the final traverse up the mountain which was hell!! We JUST made the qualifying start, but our problems didn't end there. Rob's crank bolt sheared which I thought was the end of his race but we managed to get it back on after some bodging.
    We also stopped halfway down to help a fellow biker who had blown a tube and didn't have a spare or a pump!!
    Awesome experience and despite not getting a good time we got down safe and sound and had an absolute blast doing so.
    Thanks for watching as always.

      Thanks man! You should for sure. I’d go there as part of a trip rather than an individual visit as there’s not a whole bunch of marked trails. I’m sure a trail guide would show you some awesome stuff also!

      @@TheBikePilot quick question, do you know if you can rent batteries for levo's out there? Can fly with bike but I'm not sure about taking lithium batteries on a plane, surety that is a big no no

    • @TheBikePilot
      @TheBikePilot  Před 4 lety

      Hi Mike. No you can’t fly with batteries exceeding 160wh. You honestly won’t need another battery out there. Most if it everything is Lift/Gondaloa fed. Your entry gives you a weeks lift pass as well as a bus from Allemond to Oz. Oz is the first and lowest lift to Alpe D’Huez and there’s two separate lifts from there to the whole riding area. If you stop for lunch most restaurants are cool with you charging your battery. Just be cautious if you’ve just finished a huge climb the battery isn’t too hot as this fried my battery as invariably you climb back up to the village to refresh and recharge so to speak rather than traditionally a final descent to the car or charge point using the motor very little..

      @@TheBikePilot hi there, I guess what i was getting at was/is did you all fly your bikes out with batteries fitted, I thought lithium batteries weren't allowed on planes unless in a proper protective case. Or did you take the ferry and drive with your bikes on the car. Hence can you rent batteries as you can fly the bikes only without them

    Any further comments on the battery failure?

    • @TheBikePilot
      @TheBikePilot  Před 5 lety

      Nothing back from Spesh. They changed (Chris @Berkshire Cycles) changes this over no questions for me. I think I tried to charge it straight after I had done a massive (2000ft) climb on Turbo so the battery was probably hot and it kicked an error. Chris said in all the bikes he’s sold he’s had 3 batteries back mine being 1..So it’s anomly I think but still very annoying..

      @@TheBikePilot I've just bought the 700 size battery which suprisingly is the same dimensions wise. Any ideas when the rest of the C2C series will appear?

      Hey Phil, no didn’t get a message buddy? @thebikepilot

    • @philippkellner4757
      @philippkellner4757 Před 5 lety

      Hey man! I just read your text on the haibike. I’ve had 3 ebikes from haibike. One hardtail ( my first one) and then I switched it up to the allmtn 8.0 was so disappointed because my frame was creaking everywhere. The dealer switched to an even better one the Nduro 9.0 and I also had a lot of problems. So I sold it and bought the Levo.
      I just wanted to tell you my experience because I think that haibike has wonderful bikes. I love the geometry and the feel of the bikes. BUT the frames and linkages have their problems.
      Cheers,
      Phil

    • @TheBikePilot
      @TheBikePilot  Před 5 lety

      Cheers for the info Phil. How’s the levo been so far? Like you say geometry etc on the Haibike is amazing. I didn’t have any creaking on that bike but obvs didn’t have it long term! Levo has been creaking from the headset recently and changed them to aluminium spacers also 😝 Not sure I would change up now but if I was buying again I would consider it having ridden both..

    • @philippkellner4757
      @philippkellner4757 Před 5 lety

      Levo runs quite nicely. Also had creaking in the headset, got rid of with lubrication of the whole headset :D screws and that sort of things. However, if I ride 100% support and I do this every day whilst commuting my motor cuts off quite frequently. But frame wise I love the bike no creaking whatsoever. Yeah mate, just wanted to tell you because I had 2 of the top bikes..however, I think maybe yours was with the Bosch motor and both of my problem bikes had the Yamaha, which totally changes the framework of these bikes.

    • @TheBikePilot
      @TheBikePilot  Před 5 lety

      Is the motor getting too hot? Mine hasn’t quit before but I’ve had to have a new power cable as that was an issue with all of them. Seems the Bosch is pretty bullet proof..
