Fuel tank was originally in th3 rear, ahead of the engine and behind the rear seat bulkhead. Seats are featherweight fibreglass and are extremely comfortable. I would love another one but they are almost if not completely extinct in the UK.
I had two of these Simcas in the late 70s. Dreadful cooling problems. How do you stop these Simcas from overheating? I kept the cabin heater blowing full-blast, but it only helped a little.
There's a video on YT showing a Simca 1000 being crash-tested. Go find it. Frightening. Your seat belts might save your life but you'd lose both your legs.
Easy to forget how unsafe the old, cool looking cars are 😬 I saw the crash test - the engine weight squishes the front part of the car like an accordion.
