(Am well aware that Glenn Frey's death was NOT 2006, a mistake was made in the voice over during edting. You'll notice the timeline of everything before and after is correct)

I love Joe Walsh and Don Felder, but saying the eagles were “nothing” without either of them is crazy…walsh didn’t even come on until Hotel California in ‘76, which was AFTER they sold the greatest hits album, so they were already the greatest selling American band of the ‘70’s before walsh even entered. And Felder was a huge contributor to the band, I wish it could have worked out longer with Felder and Leadon together because their creative teamwork was unparalleled. Leadon also doesn’t get enough credit for his contributions to “Desperado” which in my opinion is their greatest album

Always been struck by the fact that after the "ego twins" fired Don Felder, the well of creative music dried up. They hired guitar players to replace him, and they could reproduce his music, but they could never create it and so they lived on what had gone before for years. It's the musicianship of Leadon, Felder and Walsh that gave the Eagles life. The lyrics to most songs don't amount to much without the music to carry them.

Sadly, Frey died from his emotions. He had a bowel disease that, in my experience, is caused by anger and stress. Or at least made much more worse by it. That did him in. Ego is a terrible thing once it gets out of control.
Felder is the opposite. Not an angel, but he is still touring and looks great. Bottom line in the Eagles ripped him off. He made the Eagles a rock band instead of a country band and saved Joe Walsh from his drug habits.

Yes, it's stressful when you and your partner are lead singers and you hire someone to play lead guitar and that lead guitarist all of a sudden tries to strong arm you into singing lead too. It's terrible when your bassist would rather get drunk than sing fan favorites and when your band mate assaults you and leaves because you want to take the band in a better direction. Glenn having been a scorpio would never wear that emotion on his sleeve, he would bottle it in. By the way, why isn't anyone currently bothering Don Felder about giving everyone a turn at sining in his current band🤣 hypocrisy at its finest. Glenn died w his band at the number one spot, it's still there after his death, meaning everything he did was right.

Frey, Henley and Felder were equal 1/3 partners in Eagles Ltd. (was 1/5, but Meisner & Leadon relinquished their shares when they voluntarily departed). Frey & Henley then wanted to edge Felder out during the reunion and take a big cut of his stake, in order to gobble up more money. Felder defends himself from getting screwed (per the legal agreement) and instead of them honoring the legal and moral agreement - they fire Felder for having the nerve to stick up for himself. Frey & Henley were just money-grubbing pompous bullies. Azoff showed favoritism and is the manager for only 2 members of the band- not the entire band. Atrocious arrangement that just was totally shameful and against Felder. Henley couldn’t “Get over it” like he loves to proclaim.

The most common source of friction in the band was Frey. He was massively talented but also managed to drive away all the original members. Every confrontation that caused someone to leave the band involved Frey. They still mananged to make some of the greatest music of any Americn band but who knows what else could have been produced if he wasn't such domineering hot-head. Henley was a control freak too. Jagger and Richards were another amazing song writing duo but they didn't treat the rest of the band like session muscians.

Before I even begin to watch the video I must say I simply hate these "ego trips" between musicians, that have happened within rather a lot of bands. All this hostility is such a bad thing that it spoils your positive outlook and feelings towards the bands or members you like. Such a shame really!!! Waters and Gilmour is another example. Even Simon and Garfunkel...I am fed up with these. I am a loyal fan of the bands that I love. Maybe I should never watch these and keep on enjoying the music I love so much. By the way, Hotel California, the song and the album would NEVER be the same without Don Felder. It is extreme stupidity of the ones "with ego" to "fire" him. Their loss. Period.

Joe Walsh is my favourite member. Nice guy, has overcome his troubled past which is admirable, an amazing songwriter and performer that made a huge impact on the band. He never had any problems with anyone in the band (that we know of) and I think this is because of his good nature. Felder and Frey had their issues but I’m not gonna take sides. I respect and love their music, we don’t know what really went on behind the scenes to judge. Plenty of people don’t get on, I’d like to think the fans can just appreciate all of their talents and not take sides.

He did some songs on the soundtrack for the movie Heavy Metal (one of them being "Heavy Metal" as you mentioned the other being "All of You" czcams.com/video/hHZfyhVOGLY/video.html), then a couple of years later released a solo album titled Airborne which is pretty good I think. He sang the lead vocals on the song "Visions" from the One of These Nights album which also happened to be one of my favorite songs on it. If you get a chance to check out Airborne that's Don Felder singing and as far as I'm concerned he's just as good on vocals as those other two.

If you follow the history of this band, one name keeps coming up over and over: Glen Frey. Glen's raging ego lead to Leadon leaving. Then, it lead to the exit of Meisner. Then, it lead to the exit of Felder. Of course, the exit of Felder also lead to what is rumored to be a $60 million settlement, when Frey (with Henley) thinking they could simply "fire" a corporate share owner (which you can't.) For Frey, the final ego stroke was his claiming that his problems (and eventual death) were due to NSAID use for his Rheumatoid arthritis, ignoring his 3-pack a day nicotine habit, massive cocaine habit and alcohol consumption. Glen Frey may be really talented, but he was a turd. That Felder essentially wrote all of "Hotel California" and only the last verse was added by Frey and Henley is a wonderful example of the fascist realm. We know this as his wife had the original cassette of what he gave to Frey and Henley and played it during an interview with Don and you could hear it yourself. Felder had to threaten a lawsuit to get his name on the sheet music (even though he wrote the song) and if you look at the sheet music, Felder's name is AFTER Frey and Henley (who didn't have that much to do with the song.) Ego and egomaniacs are what ended the Eagles. I'm surprised that they lasted as long as they did. Pax.

Undisclosed but there was more than just a money settlement, Felder most likely got Royalty Rights to all the Eagles Catolog as well as performing use of it. His tours have been loaded with Eagles songs from before he joined the band. This would not have been possible seeing that Don Henley keeps a tight grip on all Eagles Copy Rights Material.
Here in the EU we never hear any of the Eagles stuff being played on the radio.

Joe Walsh did not have any part in the writing and only the solo was added to give him a part in the song.
The music was entirely composed from a small progression and then later completed and the added lyrics by Henley were added later in studio after and sure Felder allowed just to keep Henley from having and ego stroke. I was a huge fan of them and learning later how petty and greedy they were and loved how Felder was able to make them pony up 100 million and I think he even has a 20% share in the Eagles as they settled because they knew it was better to get a NDA and look like they made it right than to lose 33% and back royalty's, and all money. They were not like cash flush so I am certain Felder took less cash and accepted 20% as offsetting the 7 years back profits and still got a huge 100 million I would imagine that was in a payment deal not all cash as that was a lot of money.
I grew up in Florida and the vibe on the coast was pretty fun in the 70's. I had a girlfriend who's dad had a room in their house that had bricks of cocaine and huge bales of weed. We would go sneak in and at 11 and 12 were selling it not even a clue we just would find a 1/kilo opened (in those days a kilo was always over so as to never be short and cause a problem and no one cut it. We would walk the beach on the weekend and had a igloo cooler and sold ice cold Coke and we only had one problem and she said her dads name and the first time I ever saw fear like that and the change in the tone was just so different... one second I was in fear and next I was holding my balls the size of a raisin like I was Scarface) We ruled that beach and we never smoked it or really knew what coke was... we just knew people were very happy to see us about 6pm on Fridays and by 7pm most Fridays we had the cash to blow on clothes, food, movies, and be able to hire a cab to drive us and wait... her dad caught us once and we just said we never used it and just sold it to get spending cash and he then told us the prices and said we are to only use the stuff he put in a closet that was overage as we learned.. they were not happy we now were selling it now at retail market we were way off and it was just so much different back then. we was not ever in need of a parent and I really do not know who her dad was but when I say room.. it was floor to ceiling.. in one side kilo bricks some were single and some were several wrapped in all colors. The other was weed in these black plastic and green tape in maybe 25 lb bales... but the smell of the room reminded me of roses and the first time I did coke it was with her and man that smell ewww cant you smell that smell... good pure coke looks like a prism of colors and when you snort it, I swear I was in a rose garden. I just would get this rush and the smell of fresh cut roses... I later after moving away (I miss her even today... Scooter
