  • Demo of the basic fire service features we as technicians and inspectors have to check on a regular basis on any passenger or service elevator. Most of these features are often interfaced with the buildings fire alarm system or as is the case in this video, have a separate FACP dedicated specifically to these functions.

    3:20 You don't need to leave the key in the "Reset" position. Just turn it to "Off" after resetting for a second or two and the system will complete the cycle itself, even if the elevator is recalling to a different floor during reset.

    Elevator recall really is a beautiful thing when everything works properly. I was at a job where are the primary was supposed to be on the first floor but every time you would activate a detector that was mapped to primary recall, the elevator would shoot to the basement. The basement was alternate recall. It turns out that there was a problem with the elevator controller. All of the programming was correct. Shunt trip I have mixed feelings about, because while it cuts power to the entire elevator, it’s a death trap to anyone inside of it if there was a fire.

    • @flightlevel3608
      @flightlevel3608 Před 11 měsíci +2

      If the smoke detector that went off is on the primary recall floor, the elevator will go to the alternate floor, as the primary floor is not safe. If the detector is on a different floor, that's another story (pun intended). About shunt trip, that's another reason why you shouldn't take an elevator if there's a fire. Should that unfortunate chance happen, well, you're wearing a shirt XD

    @safetech An elevator should never be recalled by a manual pull station or detectors in other facility areas unless specified by the AHJ. IS THERE A REASON FOR THIS.

  • @embeddedgirl
    @embeddedgirl Před 6 lety +1

    Any particular reason why you would want to deticate an entire 4008 just for the elevator? My guess would be to keep programming simple on the main panel. Though regardless of how many floors the elevator services it'd be overkill for 2 or 3 floors, and redundant for 8-12 floors being that's it'd just be easier to program that into the main panel. (Most likely a 4100 series and at that point it's going to take more than a day to program anyway)

    • @safetech
      @safetech  Před 6 lety +2

      This facility does not have a main fire alarm therefore the 4008 is in place for the elevator safety controls and as a means to dial out to monitoring.

      Thanks for viewing and for your comment. I would first like to ask where in fact you got the information regarding what your claiming happened? Also, I respect all rights to privacy and never will you see me recording in unauthorized settings or areas not accessible to the general public. All location information is withheld. This is strictly an educational platform. Other than that, anyone has a right to film as long as these guidelines are adhered to and the setting allows for it. Only does it become a problem when careless people start to invade others personal space.

    • @Aaronproductions
      @Aaronproductions Před 6 lety +2

      SAFETECH there was a youtuber called “MRTRUEALERT” who had lost his Simplex panels and devices because he released them too early to the public. That’s why he doesn’t upload anymore. And I wasn’t expecting a paragraph about basic laws, I was just asking if your employer is ok with you filming at their costumers buildings. You went in the elevator room which isn’t “assessable to the public” nor eare any of the panels you show so I’m not sure what you were trying to say with that. Sorry I just wrote a big argument essay. Lol I like your videos so keep it up!

      You are correct in what you are saying. And no I don’t usually need permission to film because I am not leaking private or personal info. That’s where this whole issue begins.Therefore I feel it isn’t warranted. Like I said before, my vids are for educational purposes. If a privacy concern arises the content will be modified or deleted altogether as I have accidentally ran into that a few times myself in the past.

    What happens if the smoke detectors are triggered on both floors and there's a fire on both floors at the same time?

    • @edgarmartinez7371
      @edgarmartinez7371 Před 4 lety +2

      In situations in which smoke detectors are triggered on all floors, most elevators will send a signal to the machine room and the fire alarm control panel to 'shunt trip (or disable)'; the only form to restore its memory is resetting the FACP and the machine switch
