    It's actually insane how good the gunplay feels for this game, maybe not the sounds but the whole weapon model system they have under the hood that changes based on cards and attachment just feels great. Each weapon feels different in its standard settings, so I enjoy the variety. L4D might have physics-based zombies, better sound, and characters but B4B has that over it that which I'll be doing over 98% of the game.
    Also, enjoy the card system, people hate it I know and it does feel a chore at the beginning to learn but it's probably what will add depth and longevity seeing as we'll never get mods for it.

      100% Agree. I love the feel and movement of the gunplay! I also love the card system, it makes you feel like your working towards something, other than just completing the level.

      Hahahahahahahaha! HA! The gunplay in 007 Goldeneye for Nintendo 64 was and IS still better than B4B. The guns look amazing and that all hats good about them.
      Aim is horribly janky. Guns in fact feel weak on any difficulty above Veteran. Forced friendly fire on sardine can maps often makes them more deadly to teammates rather than the ridden. (I've personally downed teammates many times trying to cover or save them).
      Oh and the fact that you CAN'T swap attachments on\off guns freely is a massive negative.
      I.E. - If you have long barrel on your rifle and find a rifle with a suppressor... you can take the suppressor off that gun and swap it to yours. You can only swap the guns and the attachments are locked to the guns.
      (Sure this becomes less of an issue late to end game as most people will have guns and attachments they like buts it still a problem untill players reach that point.)

    It is an horde shooter with broken and overcomplicated rpg mechanics... That's why.
    Matchmaking and reuse of maps also don't help, and the versus mode is a downgrade compared to left 4 dead.
    I will grant you that the gunplay is good though, and while the card system is game breaking, it is fun to play with as endgame content.

    • @SlickGaming1
      @SlickGaming1  Před 2 lety +2

      I wouldn't say the rpg mechanics are overly complicated, maybe if it was Path of exile but its not.
      I believe there is more maps in this than left 4 dead, and l4d used the same setup of replaying the same maps. Obviously this isn't the same having an open world. So i do agree it gets a little stale after a while of playing the same maps.

      @@SlickGaming1 overcomplicated is perhaps a poor choice of words, what I mean is that people come to the game expecting a skill based horde shooter so many do not come up to realize that you can counter trauma damage with temporary health or the tallboy with back pedal or move speed and stuff like that and it's not like they can simply switch decks to counter the director cards as well. To me it is just a poor design choice.

    3:15 More engaging instead of unloading hundreds of bullets? Aside from the Tank, Witch, and Charger which were direct damage melee threats, nothing in L4D was a bullet sponge. B4B's equivalent to a Boomer takes as many bullets as a Charger in L4D and it only goes up from there with the exception of the stinger class.

    • @SlickGaming1
      @SlickGaming1  Před 2 lety +3

      I think I'd have to disagree. The enemies may have lots of health, but the weak points are extremely exploitable, especially with the right card setup. One of my favourite builds is using a sniper to one shot just about everything in the game, if I hit weak points. Hell the Barret can kill everything except the hag, Ogre and bezerker in like 2 weak point shots. Which are mini bosses intended to have more health. Sure early on in a ruin, its going to take longer to kill special infected because you haven't unlocked the cards and upgraded your weapons and attachments , but I think it would be a stretch to call the special infected bullet sponges in this game. 😅

    Here's a few reasons.
    Gunplay is horrible. It sluggish at its best and twitchy/janky at its worst. Also Weapon customization is needlessly restrictive in game/match.
    Map designs are too small/confined wich creates it's own list of separate issues.
    Card/deck is actually needlessly complex and also in certain ways restrictive. (Cant change deck loadout when continuing a campaign run even if you remake it before continuing).
    Special enemies are all just lazy reskins of each other with different weakpoint locations.
    And my personally most hated part of the game and 2 reason that make it bad game. 1. The bots are dumb and get in the way constantly. 2. You cant turn them off in co-op (apparently u can in solo but then why not in co-op too? Thats stupid).
    I could go on listing valid and obvious reasons why people dont like it or think its a bad game, but those are common issues among most players and I already know the hardcore fanboys\girls are gonna defend the game as good and call bs on these LEGITIMATE PROBLEMS WITH THE GAME!

    • @SlickGaming1
      @SlickGaming1  Před rokem +2

      I have to disagree to be honest. I really like how smooth the gunplay feels. I understand the slightly slow gunplay, but I think the un-play feels nice and smooth, and really arcadey.
      I do agree that the maps are pretty narrow, but again so were L4Ds. But this could have been something they did different, to help distance themselves from L4D.
      I think the decks being restrictive and unchangeable mid run, is actually a strong suit. It means you have to plan ahead and try build a deck to deal with or play a certain role in the team.
      I don't mind slight deviations of the specials. Each of the specials is diverse then they all have slight changes on top of that.
      100% Agree, the AI for the bots needs to be better.

    I'm sorry, but you lost me on the part saying people shouldn't be disappointed that b4b isn't l4d, majority of people buy into the marketing that turtle rock, the same studio that created the shitty evolve, which promotes b4b as the successor of l4d
    more infected? arguable sure, but they mostly split their l4d counter part into 2 and having them reskin a lil bit, that alone also confuses player in higher difficulty because how similar they are and having no sound queue, unlike l4d. You can argue the graphics quality is a step up, but comparing that alone isn't fair, l4d having more environmental interaction and details, and that alone is already a quality step down in b4b part.
    also your last point sound contradicting to me, i don't think the word arcady shooter and hardcore coop goes well along. And for the difficulty spikes complain, please do compare recruit, to a supposed 1 step up veteran mode, that is not a great game optimizing in turtle rock part

    • @SlickGaming1
      @SlickGaming1  Před 2 lety +1

      I think that despite the fact its made by the same developers. They don't own the rights to the IP of L4D. And I'm sure they wanted to try out new ideas and change the game, to make it more repayable. Because while L4D is fun as a coop experience. Its not a game you can replay endlessly. Sure it has some replicability every now and again.
      I can see your opinion of the game being balanced poorly for 3 difficulties. But i also think that is a challenging step up, again its creating reason to replay the game. The huge step up in difficulty makes it fun to learn and see what works and doesn't work. If they added a fourth difficulty between the recruit and veteran.

Actually the enemies aren't really zombies because they're called "zeds" with a different backstory but they're still basically zombies. The game combines a bunch of elements from other shooters to create a really enjoyable but admittedly repetitive game. The gameplay mostly revolves around the wave survival mechanic, the classes and weapons (which are all great and unipue btw), and teamwork.
