- This Crue Cut Model T go kart was a popular Shriner parade kart years ago, but it has been sitting for years! It was modified with a Briggs and Stratton 5HP engine, a wooden block for an engine mount, and it has rusty floors. in today's episode of CarsandCameras, we get this old parade go kart running and riding again and send it around the CarsandCameras Grand Prix!
Thanks for Watching!

Ran into a last minute technical difficulty, sorry for the late upload! Enjoy the model T!
Shew...been waiting thanks for the upload tonight see yu soon
perfect timeing for me down under in New Zealand bro..! Cheers Mate
It was worth it!!
just a head's up but the "10 signed t-shirts sold at random" idea may infringe gambling laws in some countries/states so you may need to consider just signing any/all t-shirts sold
Buy a real Model T, and go historic racing against other T racers. Make this little car a miniature of your real T racer, for cruising the pits, and when you show your real car someplace......
When I was 5 years old my dad brought me home one of these, although it was the less popular Manco fiberglass version. All the other kids on my street got Xbox’s and what not, but I would do 5mph laps up and down my street in my Model T. We even did our local Christmas parade with it when I got older. Shriners were also there and they had an entire fleet of them. They couldn’t believe we had one ourselves. These are super fun and I’ve had the privilege of owning one until recently when I had to sell it. I’m not one to leave comments often or at all, but I thought I would share. Thanks for bringing back memories.
Hold up… you didn’t experience Halo on Xbox when it came out?????
Damn.
I hope it went to someone who will enjoy it like you did.
Xbox or Karting? I know what I would choose. You don’t have to break the sound barrier to have fun. 10 mph is plenty of speed to have fun, especially for a kid young and small enough to fit in the thing. More young people need to get out there and have fun away from the Xbox. Fresh air and fun with mini bikes/go Karts is always a great choice compared with sitting in your room and playing games all the time.
Yes that's awesome thank u ❤️
And I bothered to leave a comment LOL. I wasn't sure the age of Mustie's. I said early 60s, but you could be right on the late 50s. I think I remember him saying something to that effect.
Lol! @Mustie1 just did one of these! I love seeing you guys getting in one also!
He dang sure did. I watched his video last week.
I was going to say that myself... these are pretty cool reverse is awesome how it works to
The one Musty did was older. I think it was from the 50's. His had the wooden wheels. On the two levers that stick out the side, the outer one is the forward/reverse. The inner one is the brake. Need to lube them up so they move freely without moving the other.
Was wondering why I was having a sense of Deja Vu lol
And his video was over an hour and a half
Is this one a Schreiners? Mustie's was older.
Yeah we found the older ones had wooden brakes and were actually made by a different manufacturer. Pretty cool
@@GratefulEd907 yeah but quantity isnt quality
What are the odds that Mustie1 just worked on something similar, and then C&C also gets one!
Should definitely do a gasser style build, that would be pretty cool, even though they shew a glimps of it in the ad
That thing is beyond cool! lol. And that "sneak peak"... WHOA! Can't wait to see that episode. It's gonna be EPIC!
This brings back memories...every summer I worked with my grandpa in his small engine shop since I was 10.. every year before fourth of July celebration a guy would bring one of these model t parade carts in the be serviced and tuned up for the years parade....his had wooden wheels and a 3.5 Briggs...and for 25 years my grandpa would service it. the owner bought it brand new and when he got in bad health and sold it to my grandpa..he kept it stored in a garage..and my grandpa passed away in 2020.. it was gifted to me from him..I own it now and is 99% original other then carb and tank gaskets and sparkplug....sits now in my shop with dry tank with no rust...
The T absolutely needs a live axel and MORE POWER. Thanks for all the entertainment.

#CHARLES is such a find his explanation of the carby restrictor plate was awesome and so easy to imagine "imagine this in your drinking straw" perfect analogy
Fr. And he said they were brothers which i didn’t know.
You’ll get a smoother more economical flow, but less volume
Since I already know, I can't wait to see the build on it! T-Bucket 2.0 is a 10/10!
Man this reminds me of the yearly parade that my town has. I always looked forward to watching them race in circles in the parade
This is great! You guys should consider making a cyclecart sometime! I'd love to see what your take would be!
I’ve wanted to make a cyclekart for years! It’d be so fun to get a few of them and have a grand adventure/race
Been commenting about a Cyclekart for a long time. Would love to see the guys build one.
Recently discovered Cyclekarts myself, would love to see it on the channel.
Only clash of ideas I could see if Cyclekarts are supposed to be slow, and engine modification is discouraged, something I'm sure the guys would be aching to do.
The outro 🤣 the horn at the end was a good touch! I'd say put a faster engine on it, but keep it reasonable so as to not stress the chassis too much.
IDEA: get a camera drone and use it as a chase camera around the grand prix! I can see you guys are trying new things, just thinkin that could add some production value.
second this
czcams.com/video/7CPu-WuETPQ/video.html
i swear y'all are the top gear of go karts
And minibikes
As soon as you get the carb kit you need to scan all the gaskets so you can water jet them anytime you need them.
Nice! I have a 1970 Shriner chassis that had a Chevy JR body now with a 13hp Briggs. It is scary to drive
I would like to see that
@@Saftey_3rd no longer have the body unfortunately
Still sounds pretty cool though
Mustie 1 just did one of these. When I saw this I was like, deja vu! These are pretty cool, interestingly built little machines.
Your Looking Under My Hood!? Charles face expression was hilarious 😆
Charles knows his stuff. That "restrictor plate" in the carb was supposed to make the intake air swirl to aid in atomization of the fuel in the combustion chamber. They used to make products for cars that did the same thing. I don't think that they really made any appreciable difference, if they had they would be on every engine.

The gas saving tornado, yupp
Man Charles really was like the perfect addition to the crew. I remember the trip he saved....its weird...i have memories like that that i was in a different state for...but it's like a fond memory of friends...i just remember Ike camping on his island....man you guys are legends.
czcams.com/video/7CPu-WuETPQ/video.html
Hands down!! These were the best part of parades in my childhood.
Your channel is so entertaining! Keep throwing us curve balls. I love the variety of projects! Don’t ever change. God bless you all!
This reminds me of the Walton's episode where John Boy was taking Grandma somewhere in his Model A (?) and she was calling him a "speed demon" and he said "I'm going 12 MPH". I find that rediculous because she would have grown up riding horses and even the slowest horse can run over 12 MPH. Oh, Ellen Corby. We miss you.
czcams.com/video/7CPu-WuETPQ/video.html
When I was young and just got my licence we used to borrow our Dad's old Hillman Husky van and the cushions from the basement couch as well as a number of friends and cruise around on a Saturday night. It wasn't a fast car and they weren't fast times but it is some good old wholesome fun I will always remember fondly. You don't need big HP to have big fun. I think that you should do a comparison between before and after speeds and lap times of all your builds you modify to see which is the most improved over stock. Is the excerpt of Charles doing donuts in the shop what you end up doing with it or a different one?
When Isaac took off and look like a Mr Magoo mobile🤣 looks like a lot of fun
This Old Man from Washington NC enjoying with my coffee 3am. No telling what y'all will dream up. Love you guys. 🛵🧔💝💝💝
Mustie1 just did a video on one of these, looks like a similar one to his. Maybe y’all can exchange parts. Love for y’all to collaborate someday!
It confused me for a minute. I thought it looked familiar. I came to the comments to see if any one else watched mustie1.
I myself wondered who watched him as well.
So this isn't a collaboration?
Mustie1 didn't have the engine cover or the foot pedals
@@zacharybrown146 and his one had wooden wheels
Based on the age, and why brakes and other friction pads were made of at the time, I’d bet the reverse pad on that flywheel is an asbestos/ceramic composite
czcams.com/video/7CPu-WuETPQ/video.html
very cool. i am an old person who has had much experience with big block motors, fastest production motorcycles, etc.....many crashes and incidents later i now find myself spending more time on and old 1960 riding mower rock and woods crawling than anything fast. grin power outdoes horsepower anyday. this is the kind of video that keeps me returning to cars and cameras
I like tinkering with bikes, and i have to admit i have stuffed oversize tubes into smaller tires in a pinch. yes it works, but there is usually a bulge in the tire where it was stuffed.
Hey Ike I’m a small town kart and small engine enthusiast and I have a 90s model manco interceptor doing over 60 With a 212 I’m shooting for the world record for the fastest no gear N/A go kart. Would love to pick your mind for some ideas and have a nice cars and cameras vinyl sticker across the front her.
Yes! the old logo. That reminds me, You were a part of my, I suppose 'childhood' when I was 8 or 10. 1 time I was sick, I was watching you guys make the rat rod wagon and that helped me keep a good mood. Keep it up!
"... lookin under my hood?" 0:50
The look on Charles face says it all!
What an awesome edit grab!!!
Carry on, fellers, carry on....
AS A SHRINER WHO PARADES, I love this as well as what Red Beards Garage is doing with theres. You guys should auction said vehicles and donate the money to the hospital. :)
It's only gonna be firing on 1 cylinder!!!😂😂😂
#MUSTIE1 did one of these a few months back you and him do very similar things at times and are both great channels
When I was growing up the Old gas station behind where I lived had one of these for Parades. Man i always wanted one of them. They are awesome.
This is not one of my favorite channels it is my favorite dudes this reminds me of all the shows about machines with wheels I watched growing up awesome stuff bros
Ike, you're always taking out the new projects and driving so fast.
😅😅😅😅😇
Ha, 3 seconds lol FIRST VIEW!!
Just a little late today, I guess.
I'm a Shriner I have lots of Shriner go karts glad to see it hope you take real good care of it
Gotta love those McDonough Model "T"'s and buckboard cars!!!!!
I kept laughing when Charles said ew at 8:37
That’s funny,I’ve had that same Kart since 1978. My grandfather bought it for me when I was 4. And I still have it.
Chitty River Buckled Wheels Bang Bang. Great Job. 👍🥳
6:42 Charles going for the handshake 😂
I like the little sound it makes from the tiny tail pipe !
Supposedly, they were originally built by McDonough power equipment company in Georgia and later sold to Crue-Cut which went under mid/late 70's? McDonough changed their name to Snapper Manufacturing, (home of snapper lawnmowers. I hope I got all that right. I always wondered where these things came from. Always wanted one as a kid. Cool find. Cheers.
That water crossing is such a great clip 25:40
Leave it alone & enjoy the ride. See the stuff your missing. Treat it with the respect it deserves
I don't even have to say a word lol looks like everyone already said time to build a scary fast T Bucket Go Kart! Love it Guys!!
The gentleman at Mustie1 just put out a video on another Shriner's Model T ALSO with the same setup for reverse. Too cool!
I love it. I love these wacky builds from back in the day. Time for a restomod
ELECTRIC ENGINE
@@cavemanvi ew no absolutely not they need to put a built brigs on it and gear it a little better then clean it up.
It’s cool the way it is it just needs some modern tidbits to make it more useable and reliably functional
Don't normally watch on my phone, so don't comment. In bed with covid, so I'll comment finally. Not big on small engines but, love watching you guys. Just want to say keep up the awesome work and so glad to see how far ya'll have come. 👍
i have a 60's version no pedal just hand throttle 3 hp brigs lots of fun. love what you are doing . thanks
These things are pretty cool little carts …….. but that sneak peek is pretty sweet can’t wait to see this one again
Ike following Charles around in the Model-T looked like a dad following his son around on his first Power Wheels. Dad Ike makes sure his boy doesn't crash his new toy. 😂
I used to have a Briggs flathead cart and I used permatex fuel safe liquid casket that seals stuff like that really good that kart was fast it did 65mph
I grew up in the 60s, dad was a Shriner, so these minis are dear to me. If it were me, I wouldn't change a thing...repair what needs repaired, leave the patina - and before you hang it from the ceiling spec out everything. Make some CAD templates of the body - Jon you're probably gonna hafta get a good sheet metal brake and slip roller - and make a replica!
Old school hot rod style with flames
Absolutely love his remark back to hold him spark plug absolutely love you guys keep up the great work love seeing the new projects keep them rolling
czcams.com/video/7CPu-WuETPQ/video.html
czcams.com/video/7CPu-WuETPQ/video.html
I pretty much have that identical engine. Came off a tiller. Butterfly choke and everything! And yes, for the record, it IS an electronic ignition... 👍
The Old T-models Were Awesome,
The Old T-Rods Were Also Awesome.
My Dad was a Shriner and those cars looked Janky even back then (60's). But when they shifted to riding Honda Mini-Trail 50's, THAT was cool.
CarsandCameras paint job/parade go cart for sure.
When you’re tired of the 670 in the dragster, this model T could be its new home.
My pop pulled me behind one of those Shriner carts in a red flyer wagon in a parade every year. :)
You guys need to do more videos on this thing it is awesome.😃👍
Can't say I ever had one issue separating tank from carb. Use to do it all time back in days with 3hp push mowers set out for trash... Freebies!
Now time to convert it into old school t-bucket roadster, get rid of the fenders and hood, exposed front engine, skinnies in front, big ol fat tires out back, look up ‘23 t bucket roadster! My late dad had one in blue metal flake with sbc, turbo 350, 9”ford rear end, 4.5’s in front, 15x15 centerlines on back, hell yes brother!!
Really dig this one can't wait for Model T 2.0👍🏼👍🏼
I would always throw a handful of nuts/bolts into the tank with some gas and slosh it around for deep cleaning. Cleans your old nuts/bolts too! Just go easy... no sparks =)
This is going to be great. The tease in the ad got me.
Please restore it! when i was a kid i had the luck of trying one. It has stuck with me since and will nevet forget it. I would love to see it as brand new
You know what you're going to do you're going to make it fast and loud great stuff guys thanks
Made it lock with a "nail set dimple?" Works Every Time and It'll Be Fine. 😁
Well, since Charles from the future already spilled the beans on the mods, I'll just go ahead and say "do what you did". Can't wait. 😁👍
Ah man the teaser for next weeks episode was so good with the merch plug
Model T Hotrod. Big thick tires in the rear the same tires in the front. Flames for a paint job.
Full send flat head build and stick that pristine peice of machine back together ❤️
I can think of two routes fot this thing. Number one: only replace stuff that is broken or worn out so that it is in a good technical shape but otherwise totally stock. Number two: Look at some vintage Model T hotrods for inspiration and create a mini version of that.
Great vid. great humour. Cars n cameras of old. thank you to ya all
These cars are very desirable to the shriners who still do the parades (Tin Lizzie's). Being in the Tin Lizzies I would like to see a original resto and sell it with the proceeds going towards Shriners hospitals. I love watching your videos and with this build you really hit close to home for me
i just saw one of these at a car show on sunday!!!
they should make a black and white montage video with this cart xD
There's gotta be a parade that happens near you guys. Put it back into parade use. That would be great local publicity for you guys and for your sponsors.
Funny I Just watched mustie1 do one of these this weekend. I think the one he had was from the 60s but it has the same drive train setup and all. Love the creative content guys!!!!!
I love that little thing. Looks like a blast!
I love these old projects and old motors Def need more of these. I was in outer banks, NC l I was thinkin man I'd love to go by the shop and turn some wrenches with yaw.
I think just mild upgrades. Solid axel, better wheels/tires (Honda wheels?), mikuni swap, maybe slightly higher gearing or bypass governor.
Super cool project. The shiners were always my favorite at parades.
two words: HOT ROD. Flame job, chrome wheels, fake side pipes...OH and a racoon tail hanging from the mirror! And lots and lots of power.
That was fun. And historic. Thanks
The tailpipe looks like a peashooter from an old vw beetle. :)
It even have the whistle/chirping sound. :D
That carbs name is Pulse Jet, they superceded the Vacu-jet carbs because they could provide more fuel. The vacujet carbs are limited on tank size because the draw tube in the tank had to be short. The Pulse-jet carbs didnt have that issue because the diaphragm would draw from a deep tank into a very small reservoir in the tank. IF you are careful you can use a tiny drillbit to open the jet some for better power but not much. The "air/fuel" mix screw only adjusts how much fuel it gets, so it should be called "fuel adjustment screw" And depending on how old that 5hp is, it could be an old "Cool Bore" 5. Cool bore briggs engines did not have a steel sleeve and were known for dieing very fast in dirty environments. They came in 2 to 5hp flavor.
Would love t see you just do a full restore on this cart. Love the mostly period correct car
Well it's made for a parade they normally only go at a walk, all the best to you all
Was going to ask for more flathead content. Awesome!
I like how you did a spoiler on the new engine on the t bucket!
