you missed the best parts of Algiers : Jardin d'essais, the old town (the casbah)that's also where the are all the old well ornated palaces, the port of sidi fredj, la grande poste and all the little squares, and you did not eat any traditional dishes that might explain why you didn't like the food. And What you took is the telepherique, the tram is on the eastern part of the city, you could have taken the underground metro where you were in martyrs place to go to jardin d'essais and from there take another telepherique directly to the martyr memorial (that monument you've shown at night)
