Is it just me or is Manish one of the most well-connected people you've come across? He seems to flit effortlessly between Bernie E, embassy staff and middle eastern gentlemen of leisure. Hang on, does he work for MI6?
Exaclty😅! Dude is like Walter Wolf who had Feruccio build him a custom Countach 5L engine and Pirelli to make him special edition tyers for it… that later Lambo made factory on the later Countaches.
I agree with Harris, W124 and W201 are the best made cars of all time. Criminally undervalued as a classic these days, something you could genuinely use everyday
Once again another session of super nerdy motor vehicle loving. This podcast has become my staple, to end a week of work. Kick back with a few bevvies and it's just glorious!
Despite being just shy of 60, I felt old when the others didn’t know what NORWICH meant. I guess it’s not been used for some decades now. Keep up the brilliant humour you all have. Loving the pod. Cheers
Chris Weird Fishes is the best song ever!! The riff at the end just adds to the magic. When I listened to you say In Rainbows I just knew you'd pick this song! Great pod can't wait for it to drop every week. Keep up the great work (it's not really work I know)
Max is that fast partly because he has so much confidence. And thats the same reason why he's not overly enthousiastic. You cant expect him to act all surprised when he wins because he just knows how good he is.
It’s also a cultural and personality thing, nobody in the Netherlands is waiting for him to start waving flags, thank god for loving him more and more of that melodramatic BS, certainly not after a easy win
Great episode guys, thanks for putting the time in. Monkey, your description of Weird Fishes really struck a chord with me, it's a beautiful song that grabs your brain and takes you on a feelsome journey. Cheers
1:10:50 I do indeed work for the company in question; the UltraFan bypass ratio target is 15:1. I had the privilege of seeing components of the test engine up close last week - you would not believe the size and scale of the fan blades…they are huge. It’s an immense piece of technology.
I lost the clutch in my E30 convertible at the top of Glacier National Park in Montana. I drove all the way home to Portland, 650 miles, rev matching and praying to the car gods
They'd show me the stars, and the meaning of life. They'd shut me away. But I'd be alllllright.... Finish your dinner Neil ffs as you'd say. Great choice though, although best song on ok computer is Airbag and would have been a great choice for this podcast. In a fast German car... Musical taste was the one question mark I had on all of you.. but you've just redeemed yourselves.
I really wished AMC had made the AMX3. Mid engine America v8 with Italian design. For a concept car, it would have been such a legendary super car if it had made it into production during the 70s.
I e just arrived in a campsite in the Ardennes forest , I’m going to pour a beer and chill out and listen to this . We were on an overnight ferry to Amsterdam last night , when we got into port they couldn’t open the ramp we were trapped on the ferry for 5 hours !!!!
Thank you gents, a thoroughly enjoyable hour and three-quarters. I jotted down timestamps of several highlights, but then I remembered I have to pick one - it's Chris Cooper and his knowledge of the Vickers VC-10, possibly my favourite passenger aircraft.
My parents actually drove from Plymouth to Blackpool (and back) in 1978 with the three of us with no breakdowns. It was an amazing journey that I think took about 8 hours each way.
My concept car is the 1970 Lancia Stratos Zero. It had a windscreen that hinged up to gain access and i think the steering column tipped up as well. A beautiful wedge which caught my imagination as a kid.
W140 S Class is surprisingly cheap to run. There are lots of great Mercedes specialist breakers and parts are readily available at very reasonable prices over T'interweb. Not at all scary. I had ex Russian ambassadors car and replaced plenty of parts at minimal cost.
I love how Chris cooper gets all techy and nerdy about aircraft! and seemingly forgets monkeys question 🤣🤣 ruddy brilliant chaps. One year I went to the Bristol car’s factory behind Asda. Wondered around and came across a clay model just randomly sitting between a couple of cars. Ahem apparently I wasn’t ment to see the new Fighter project!! Engineer told me it was having a tuned Viper engine!!! I’ll never forget that day.
I wish I could post the pic of my Corvette from about a month ago. Immediately after service the driver side tie rod end fell off. Left wheel turning left and passenger side going straight. Turns out that they install a castle nut on C6 Vettes but no cotter pin
Being a Bristol lad , Back in the late 90's or early 20's i was called out to Bristol Cars (back of 'ASDA 'Cribbs Causeway ) .. Me and the Security guard chased this bloody pigeon that had set the alarm off for ages , in the end we turned the lights out a threw a sheet over it !, First time i saw a viper was there on the ramps ! . The office was wooden clad like back in the 60's with tall pull out filing cabinets to match ,Lots of english wheels / lathes / cars in for repair etc .. from talking to colleagues at the time one elderly gentleman would do a 'fast test Drive 'up the M5 in the early hours /day break ' on them .
Fun and informative episode, as usual. Great concept cars picks, and I would add the Audi Avus, BMW Nazca, VW Nardo, and Cadillac Ciel. Regarding the Bentley Hunaudières: The (ligne droite des) Hunaudières is the long straight at Le Mans. It is what the English world calls the Mulsanne straight. In French, Mulsanne is only the corner at the end.
Re - track limits if you watch highlights of the 2019 Indycar race from COTA, you can see how stupid it can get when it's not enforced. As far a Max is concerned, that car has been built with his driving style in mind, would be interesting how close Lewis or Fernando would push Max in the same machinery.
Great chat. Gravel and MotoGP is lethal, this cant happen. Why not PTFE paint beyond the white line, or make the surface slower outside the track limits? Its hardly expensive.
Another great podcast. Constantly amazed at the depth and breadth of knowledge, even to aero engines! Really hope Chris H is seeing a physio, he looks to be in constant discomfort with either back/side etc. A bit long tbh guys, had to miss bits out as Real Life kept intervening. Still, keep up the good work!
Didn’t really know most of the gents on this podcast at the start but they’ve fast become a top notch set of characters that I want to hear from every week. Keep up the good work fellas.
I’m loving the pod. I’m actually an aa patrol and for me it seems the other way round that the modern cars are breaking down a lot more than old cars. Possibly due to less old cars on the road but the new shit is even worse 😂😂
Surely if you are an extremely rich or connected individual, you think you would be able to contact a more bespoke service than the AA to fix or recover a Bentley or Bristol ?
Another great PC, thanks gents. Brings too many memories to the fore, mostly all good. Keep them coming please. Manish is the International Man of mystery with many stories to tell, that makes a lot of us envious when he mentions who they might be. 👍👍
Motor sport news - SVG (3 x Australian Supercars champ, 2 x Bathuurst 1000 winner), wins at first attempt in Nascar Chicago. Fair old effort I reckon: worth a mention?
Friday night Mel Australia delivering pizza in my ek1 listening to this then can’t help myself but go out for a night drive in my s2000 haha keep them coming 🎉🎉
Yet again another thoroughly enjoyable watch along with some delightful insights. I'm loving the music choices that you're all throwing in - and wonder - Will you create and AppleMusic/Spotify Playlist of the tracks you've stated thus far and update it every time you add more - It would make for Epic Driving tunes.
Chris H, you say that the Traction Avant wasn't British, but they did build quite a few in Slough with RHD and 12v electrics as a bonus. Podcast number25.....the quality hasn't slipped one bit. Well done Guys!
Another brilliant show. And Chris, I too must be a driving God when the clutch cable on my 914 broke. Just matched the revs when shifting and made it home! Cheers!
Curb sensors and then the curb three quarters of the width of the cars, which they can to the edge of, then wet astro turf rather than concrete run off. Makes it slippy and not worth running on but doesn't allow the car to dig in like grass does. Then outer edge gravel traps with paths before the walls for getting back to track if they've kept the car moving
I agree with Chris C re the W140, Vault like build and design (other than the shape which wasn't exactly pretty). I had quite a few of these when running a M-B Dealership S500 was the sweet spot (standard wheelbase). I once caned one around Goodwood, running rings around quite a few smaller lighter sports saloons. The tyres didn't like it much though! The reversing masts were mesmeric...sadly replaced by sensors in the later models. As was the boot handle which tucked itself away so that the owner didn't dirty his hands.
MUSIC SUGGESTION: listen to Thom Yorke sing about crashing a '60s convertible off a cliff in Smile's 'Bending Hectic'. It's the most beautiful thing he and his Radiohead colleague J. Greenwood have done in a long time.
Another great episode! Didn’t think anyone else remembered the Sbarro monster… Would love to hear opinions on best model/toy cars - matchbox, corgi, siku, bburago, maisto even Britains (although mostly agricultural but such good quality!).
I had 2 GT Turbos - I used to cringe every time I pressed the clutch, and yes, every 6 months they world snap - the reason being that Renault in their infinite wisdom used the same cable length for the right hand versions as their LHD versions - hence it was stretched way to far and was already under stress when they left the factory. 🤷♂️
Totally agree with the best built car being the W124. I daily drive a C124 320 and it is phenomenal. I understand Chris Harris has an A124 as well. Great choice.
If Mr Lovett wishes to sit in an E36 again he is welcome to try mine which I would say does not live up to granite BMW expectations in any way shape or form
Jeez Neil, I cant imagine travelling around the country (let alone across Europe), in a Morgan +8.....not if you want a usable spine after the event! The Shadow is a good choice especially a Mulliner two door. What a sheltered life the team have led Chris C...not knowing about the NORWICH acronym!! I am with you re TR6, I have had a few, all of which have been great cars.
VC10's are gorgeous things, and I don't mean to be that guy, but a BA 747-400 broke the subsonic Atlantic record in February 2020. The VC10 is still cooler though.

What a great chat amongst mates that imparts wisdom, makes us reflect, laugh and provides joy. You can't imagine what an amazing 'show' you have developed. This is real, it's so good for Mens Health and has provided me with an escape and I look forward to the banter and friendship. Whilst I don't know you I feel like you've been my mates for years . I live vicariously through your reflections.
Another great episode which I enjoyed to while doing my indoor cycling workout. Curious about Neil's bikes hanging off his man cave ceiling. With regards to Max, being so fast and maybe bored, he could deliberately qualify last and make the race more interesting by overtaking everyone.
Chris' point about the comparing the W140 600 SEL to the E32 750iL is an interesting one. Coincidentally I have two 1994 C140 S600 coupes & a 1988 E32 750iL and the build quality in both is IMHO peak German car. The E32 750iL feels more nimble & sporting (like a big E30) while the S600's are indomitable & imperious , albeit more "Panzer-like."

love the way he sits in front of the flowering jasmine wall, god damn resplendent gentleman!
Exaclty😅! Dude is like Walter Wolf who had Feruccio build him a custom Countach 5L engine and Pirelli to make him special edition tyers for it… that later Lambo made factory on the later Countaches.
The path of academia to NHS is a good way to build connections very quickly.
I think it’s because that people can sense how genuinely nice a person he is and feel comfortable with him.
I'm an Englishman living in Romania and I listen to this podcast like I just to Radio 4 in the later years...!
Honestly one of the highlights of the week when a new episode pop up.
Didn’t realise Chris Cooper raced with Chris 😮
It’s not like he EVER mentions it 😂
Love these podcasts 😂😂
They were at Le Man didn't you know?
@@Titanthecreatornooooo 😱 really? 😂
My favourite concept cars at the Peugeot e-Legend and the Porsche 959 (Gruppe B) 🚘
Good choices

I bloody love this podcast! The knowledge of all things motoring is obscene
Been watching this channel for sometime mostly car testing.
But these pobcasts or zone calls are amazing .
There is something so accidental partridge about this. Love you guys. You make my life better.
Love you guys. I like happiness.
56:35 "Any car that sounds like Mariella Frostrup..." now that is one of the best quotes I have heard in a long time!
Chris Weird Fishes is the best song ever!! The riff at the end just adds to the magic. When I listened to you say In Rainbows I just knew you'd pick this song! Great pod can't wait for it to drop every week. Keep up the great work (it's not really work I know)

Max likes racing not celebrating.
Yet again, funny intelligent, and entertaining. Brilliant pod cast. Thank you all.
Savile rowv meets Monty Python. Excellent analogy.
Great episode guys, thanks for putting the time in.

Mr Clifford beaten to the Jimny punch by Mr Smith off of Smith and Sniff. Love those Jims. The commercial one is cool as hell
Topic for next week;
What was the first ever car you drove or owned that made you realise what real power was?
Radiohead over Zeppelin, Floyd and Sabbath?! Have a word with yourself Clifford.
They'd show me the stars, and the meaning of life.
They'd shut me away.
But I'd be alllllright....
Finish your dinner Neil ffs as you'd say.
Great choice though, although best song on ok computer is Airbag and would have been a great choice for this podcast.

I really wished AMC had made the AMX3. Mid engine America v8 with Italian design. For a concept car, it would have been such a legendary super car if it had made it into production during the 70s.
I miss Neil’s weekly contribution so much - “to cut a long story short…the wheel fell off”
Concept cars I wish they made: 2002 Cadillac Cien (featured in the film The Island). 2001 VW W12 Coupe Concept, and the 2015 MazdaRX-VISION
Norwich. Tears of laughter. Weird Fishes. Just tears.
The ZZ top keyring !! 😁😁😂😂 dad has had that for years !!!!
I e just arrived in a campsite in the Ardennes forest , I’m going to pour a beer and chill out and listen to this .
We were on an overnight ferry to Amsterdam last night , when we got into port they couldn’t open the ramp we were trapped on the ferry for 5 hours !!!!
Bodysnatchers is the best song on In Rainbows.
*Any pod that includes waxing lyrical about the VC10 gets a vote from me*
Thank you gents, a thoroughly enjoyable hour and three-quarters. I jotted down timestamps of several highlights, but then I remembered I have to pick one - it's Chris Cooper and his knowledge of the Vickers VC-10, possibly my favourite passenger aircraft.
Best episode yet, absolutely joyous
Norwich memories 😂
Was hoping the Phantom VII V16 would be mentioned!
My parents actually drove from Plymouth to Blackpool (and back) in 1978 with the three of us with no breakdowns. It was an amazing journey that I think took about 8 hours each way.

It’s here again. Wonderful Beano day. Thank you guys.
Yay it's Friday again, I'm pleased not because of the weekend but because of the podcast.
Delightful chaps. Enjoying your banter from down under 👍
Mannish, spot on with the music. In fact the whole album Love Story is just magical. Once heard forever played.
W140 S Class is surprisingly cheap to run. There are lots of great Mercedes specialist breakers and parts are readily available at very reasonable prices over T'interweb. Not at all scary. I had ex Russian ambassadors car and replaced plenty of parts at minimal cost.

Thank you once again. It’s like stand up comedy for my soul. Love the CC “or wasn’t that golden”! Nearly chocked on my beer!
Loved the AMG breakdown chat. More of that please.
NORWICH!!!
I drove my car around for 3 weeks with no clutch
I love when Neil gets going. His vision is always so particular and I love the way he says the f word at 1:25:59. It’s quintessentially Neil
I wish I could post the pic of my Corvette from about a month ago. Immediately after service the driver side tie rod end fell off. Left wheel turning left and passenger side going straight. Turns out that they install a castle nut on C6 Vettes but no cotter pin

Moto GP tracks have loads of gravel, I don't understand this argument?
🎉🎉🎉🎉 8.20am and I've nearly finished my first job (991.2 GTS) and the Collecting addicts podcast is on! Life is good!

Love the F1 chat, concept chat, breakdowns, all of it! Laughed when Chris Cooper said "'I've forgotten"

They have, just google "Spotify collecting cars playlist"
Loving this more with every video! Thank you 😀🤘
These episodes keep getting longer. Not complaining. This lightens up the week.
42:00
Chris H, you say that the Traction Avant wasn't British, but they did build quite a few in Slough with RHD and 12v electrics as a bonus.
Podcast number25.....the quality hasn't slipped one bit. Well done Guys!
Gentlemen, a joy to listen to your motoring life experiences ( fast in , fast out carry speed ! )
Thanks, guys the best hour of the week.
Song for FOS Sprinter by Dave and Central Cee
Another brilliant show. And Chris, I too must be a driving God when the clutch cable on my 914 broke. Just matched the revs when shifting and made it home! Cheers!
Can someone please provide the quote on 56:02 that Manish wanted to say about Ferruccio Lamborghini and 100 thousand liras? I can't find it anywhere.

The Jaguar C-X75 that appeared in the James Bond film ‘Spectre’ was a beautiful concept car that didn’t make it to production (and should have)
Nearly two fuckin hours lads!! You little dancer 💚💃
Bruce Canepa, re-manufacturers the 959 Porsche.
Come on guys, some of us don't have much going on and need you to up your output. How about you start putting a few out each week.. Pretty please!!
Gents 👏 Congratulations on your 25th podcast. I haven't missed one and spruik this eclecticism to many. Big Hi from the Coffs Harbour 🍌🇦🇺🪃 . Keep on keeping on.
Abby Eaton in W series had a very serious back injury from a sausage kerb also - which she's only recently recovered from after a few years off. Didn't look too bad as a spectator until you remember the cars have basically no suspension. They need to go.
Love this
Great tune choices. My contribution would be Loose Ends by Loyle Carner.
Gotta love modern cars...disabled by a pothole in Central London. Can somebody please tell me WHO decided that a spare tire was an expendable item?
Who ever it was should have to personally rescue motorists who fall foul of a simple flat tire...
Over to you Chris Harris...DISCUSS!!!
Niel, made me think of “The front fell of” by Clarke and Dawe.
"Kerbs" Cooper... 😂🤣😂🤣
Love it. Could it be any more middle class? I think not…😉
Do I get a prize for listening to the podcast on Apple, then watching it again in the morning on CZcams, to see the pictures. Or should I just spend 3 hours doing something more productive?😁
