He took advantage of one of the other siblings and now the girls live with their dads. My step kid is like way too trusting and I know she has bad boundaries so we're trying to fix it. The only way to have a strong relationship is to have the kind of trust with another person where you trust them with your life and they trust you with theirs. Once that betrayal happens it's all over and just leads to disfunction. It seems better to me to just forgive and make a clean break right there, then go through the inevitable roller coaster of emotions trying to deal with the betrayal.
