In 1983 and 1984 while I was stationed in Fort Polk, Louisiana a friend named Bob got a 67 Firebird fur almost nothing because the motor or transmission was bad in it (the engine, I think but not sure). We pulled into the post garage where we were able to rent torches and other tools and we stripped it down and got it ready for dirt track racing. Bob got a 351 Windsor out of a 76 Ford Station Wagon with a C6 and we dropped it into that Pontiac. I had my doubts until race day. Bob's first race he placed 4th! His 2nd race he placed 2nd, and the next 6 races after that he placed first. Every tweak he and I made on that car made it just a little bit better and faster. Unfortunately we got separated when we got moved to the new barracks and I didn't have a number where I could reach him. So his 8th race was the last time I saw him. But I think about us building that heap and how good of a driver Bob was. Makes me wanna get a car and run some races in it.😉🤣🤣

What a Beautiful Pontiac Firebird Convertible I had 1968 Pontiac GTO the same color the same white interior had a 350 with the Turbo 400 automatic hurst shifter what a beautiful car I sure regret selling.
Had a68 gto same color, blach interior, Hurst His n Hers shifter.
Look at the cars that we had as kids I think in a lot of ways they as a teenager growing up and seeing these beautiful cars what a country, thank all of you guys for appreciating this stuff I thought I was the only one when I was a kid I had the Hot Wheels 1968 and I learned about all of the cars from the models and my dad was a chauffeur so I got the ride and a Fleetwood Brougham even as a teenager when I come to the prom I am the man

Sprint 6, 4 barrel, 3 speed same colors with a manual top. Wish I would have kept it. Sold it in the late 80s for $400..lol
