I heard that the reason for the delay before Jones approved McCarthy again was because they had reached out to Belechick and Bill wasn't interested. So they were interested but it wasn't reciprocated. I mean Jones pays a middle of the pack QB a substantial salary. A QB that only looks good on paper because he can beat teams with 2-15 records all season long. But not teams with a winning record. You can argue that Mahomes and Purdy aren't the standard all you want too but they're in the league and in the championship game and yes they are the standard. That's the standard you're going to have to reach to be competitive. Dallas doesn't have that level of talent on either side of the ball in any position and they're not going to.
Don’t give Prescott any more money. They overpay him so much they can’t afford anybody else. It’s ridiculous to give him 40 and $50 million a year just to choke in the playoffs. He is a small game quarterback which means he’s great in the regular season, but can’t handle the pressure of a playoff game or a major game. We saw it against the 49ers and then we saw against the Packers. He’s a choke artist.

Not when it comes to playoffs regular season yes but not playoffs.
A QB to be competitive in the playoffs requires making superior decision making being able to make great plays with his feet when the situation calls for him to do so. He must be trained to have sound timing with receivers. He must be held to a high standard to release the football in three seconds and when he doesn’t he needs to held accountable. This keeps him mentally on top of his game.
A Qb that has taken a team deep into the playoffs does not need to be replaced he is doing his job. If I was coaching the Detroit Lions I would not change my personnel. What I would do is. Have my team do a lot of one on one drills focusing on re emphasis on the receivers timing with the QB and focusing on DB coverage in man to man(Monster) defense and Zebra(Zone).”
