Generally speaking you won't find street food carts in the main streets of Chinese cities. They cause sanitation and traffic issues. So you need to dive into small streets and markets that locals going.
Kuan and Zhai alleys are very touristic. Locals avoid them as everthing is overpriced.
The sauce of the sticky rice balls is melt brown sugar and water. it's called " three rounds of cannon" as they are thrown to a table to make noise. I personally like it very much.

Many liquids are colorless and transparent, and it's difficult for the naked eye to distinguish what kind of liquid it is, such as sulfuric acid. Even if a container appears empty, there might still be residual liquid or gas in it. If someone with malicious intent were to exploit this, it could lead to disastrous consequences in just minutes, resulting in vehicle destruction and loss of life. So, although it might seem like a waste of time, it's better to understand and comply, as it is ultimately for safety reasons.

Answer to Shannon's Q: in the temple, they not praying, they are studying. the water you bring to the metro, they scan if it is chemical or flammable

The scanning of the beverage in the metro looks like for detection of flammable liquid which can be potentially hazardous in a crowded carriage

Wooden fish, bang it to make announcements. Men and women on separate sides is a common practice. Turtles from food markets are often released in ponds to accumulate good merits for saving a life (long lived animal too). That no shell turtle is a type of soft shell snapping turtle.

The ones with the shells is called a Terrapine, the one without the chinese eat them as land turtles called JIA YU. Cooked in herbs and rice wine. The skin is pure collagen. It actually has a shell, but its below the skin, sub dermal, that is. There is a huge farm I passed last month on my way to Zhang Jia Jie. It was like 1 square kilometer. It was covered by Solar Panels, yes, thousands of solar panels. Under the panels is the lake full of turtle farms
