My Most Profound Experience Doing Hospice Work

  • Maria Dancing Heart Hoaglund, international author, minister, body-mind-spirit specialist, and long-time hospice counselor, shares her most profound experience she's had as a spiritual counselor. (see www.changewithcourage.com for details) One needs to remain very flexible when doing hospice work; and in this situation she was privileged to be by the bedside when a gentleman was dying. Maria helped him make the transition by providing him with some essential oils that allowed him to relax and take his last breath in a remarkable short amount of time!

What a great video. My mother lay dying in the hospital when she began talking with someone that I couldn't see. She was so happy and excited. After a time she turned to me and asked if I'd seen her pastor. She meant her favorite pastor who had died 30 years earlier! Evidently he came to see her to tell her not to be afraid. She died at home the next day with myself and my sister by her side. Fear not!

My mom died of cancer in 2005. I was her caregiver , she was also under hospice care at home.when she was a few days from death she was transfered to the hospital. As I sat by her bedside a nurse came in and said " she wont wake up again" just as the sentence left her mouth my mom woke up looked at me and said i love you.❤

I have heard some wonderful things about hospice care. My grandmother was 92 when she passed in hospice care. If everyone could pass relaxed, calm, ready to accept what is next that would be comforting to not only them but the family as well. It takes time to accept the inevitable by both the person and family. I am a Christian and I do believe in God but I hope their is no hell for anyone's soul. Hell is like revenge and no one needs revenge as it is a form of hate to me. We should all hopefully join a place together filled with only love for all eternity. Thanks to the many hospice workers and care givers, I can think of no more noble a cause.

Sure wish we would have had a hospice nurse like you when my daddy died. Our hospice nurse wasn't even present when our father passed away. I had no idea what to do for him. I have no medical background. I did put oil on my father's forehead and on his feet. I'm so happy my daddy didn't suffer long. I think he could see us worried and calling the hospice nurse on the phone and getting no answer. I think he didn't want us to worry any longer. We just wanted to help him but we didn't know how to do that. I'm so glad my daddy isn't suffering anymore. I think of him smiling now with his great blue eyes.

And when she was anoyed she used to make me giggle as she never had one mean bone in her body. She had one of the most beautiful faces ive ever seen when i looked at her. It must of been the love and kindness through her soul seeping out. She will always stay with me a testsmsent to what truly matters letting others see you and always caring for others always i always felt this from her. I miss you beautiful lady.

Essential (sometimes/usually scented) oils of all kinds have been used therapeutically throughout history for comfort & treatment of pain & other ailments. They aren't neccessarily used for any purpose other than comfort & healing. More & more people are turning to oils & other natural remedies to treat illness & provide relaxation. This kind of annointing is not the same as you might find for religious purposes.

I've had many past lives with many religions including Christianity. When I was bad, I was sent to a Purgatory to purge out my negative traits and then sent back here to try again. When I was good, I went to a good place and enjoyed GOD's LOVE. Then, I was sent back to further my growth. Often times, the difference between Saints and brutes is just number of lifetimes a Soul has had to learn to be a channel for GOD's GREAT PURPOSE. Eventually, we graduate and don't have to come back...that's True Salvation. A PERFECT GOD has a PERFECT CREATION.

He went quickly because you put smelly oils on a man and even under his oxygen mask and he could not breath at all. You were surprised? Imagine how surprised he was when he could not breath enough to say, get that smelly oil away from me.

When we die, the body dies and the spirit goes back to God who gave it to us, but it is not conscious! The dead and living IN CHRIST, must wait for Jesus to return in the clouds, and the dead in Christ rise from their graves with the living in Christ, to meet Him in the air, to receive their immortality.

The spirit goes back to God but the soul (different from the spirit) still exists. Luke 16. Not a parable because names are given.

What is profound here? you are a flake with oil trying to sell a book. Also a bore... I have had great death in my family and you offer nothing and no comfort to anyone!!!!! Stop your B.S. and making a career out of people's loss!!!! Disgraceful

"making a career out of people's loss"......you mean like the guy you gave money to embalm your family member, the second guy in the funeral home to buy a coffin and package deal they sold your living family members they convinced to buy using sales tactics, the third guy who sold you a ton of flowers to sit around and die at your family member's wake and then more dying flowers at their actual burial, or the pastor who charged for doing the sermon at the gravesite? You've got an entire death industry all vying for your money to take care of your dead loved one. Don't think you need to worry about the lady putting soothing oil on them when THEY'RE the ones requesting it.
