- Larry talks about Dianna, his wife of 35 years, and his experience with having Dianna in hospice care with Transitions Hospice.
Also featured in the video is Jesse, Dianna's sister-in-law who provided care for Dianna during this time, and Terri Arneson who was the Transitions Hospice RN case manager overseeing Dianna's hospice home care.
Many people associate hospice with pain management, but Larry and Jesse found out there was so much more, including nursing assistants who changed sheets to make sure Dianna was comfortable, to social workers, volunteers and chaplains who supported them during this difficult time.
We had Hospice at home the last 2 months of Mom's life. We needed help managing meds for Mom's pain (fractures due to osteoporosis) and anxiety from Alzheimer's. Hospice ordered the wheelchair, walker, hospital bed, Depends, bed protectors, etc. They came in to wash her hair, bath her and evaluate her condition. Mom enjoyed the music therapy and Chaplin visits. We were blessed that our dear Mom did not have to die alone in a nursing home due to Covid restrictions.
rest in peace darling girl
Hospice helped me and my family in the last week of my late husband Stanley’s life!
She was absolutely beautiful
No wonder he never gave up trying to go out with her
I can see how much he misses her
I love seeing comfort DIANNE’s Shih Tzu’s are giving him, he just reaches for one, and a little part of DIANNE is in his arms💗🌹
Instablaster...
What wonderful testaments to both Dianna and Transitions.
My husband and I have used Hospice for 3 parents in their 80s. They all had different issues, but hospice served them all in the end which our siblings needed badly for comfort.
Hospice is such a wonderful caring group of medical professionals that offer so many kinds of help even at home !
You can see how much he loved his wife.
Definitely
I wish the music was quieter or my hearing was better. It was hard to understand.
Thank you so much for sharing your intimate experience and pain with those of us who need it. God bless. I trust that things will become easier for you, as time passes.
I wish we had been told about hospice for my husband Ken 12 years ago. In moms case, who just died on January 15th 2019, she took sick in October, chose to fight and when palliative was finally started she died very quickly (2 days) after, so I hadn't even known about palliative care until just before she died. I thought Canada was better equipped than to wait until it's too late to finally even offer palliative. 😢😭😢😭😢😭😢😭😢
My dad is coming home from the hospital with hospice 😭😭😭🙏🙏🙏
Hospice is a true blessing
Wonderful !!! I am so happy, at least 15-20% of the people can afford this !!!! My heart goes to the other 80% !!!
I thought it was free after diagnosis
There angel's from heaven ❤️
I really love these stories it totally gives you hope. I only wish they would lower the music so you can hear these stories clearly.
So agree!
Thank you for sharing
I can hardly hear him talk above the piano , why did this to people ?
the music is annoying
❤️
Wow Larry she is beautiful
I will add, we live in USA and all 3 parents had Medicare.
✨💫🌟♥️
I bet if you're living on social security and only have Medicaid you're not getting this service
Can't speak for hospice care in the US but in the UK hospice care isn't denied to anyone based on economic status. I receive hospice care 1 day per week which includes lunch/beverages. I can access varied therapies and counseling, and for that I make a donation, around £10 though if I couldn't afford it then I wouldn't be turned away. Hospices in the UK rely on public donation/ fund raising and service users leaving a sum of money in their Will if that's suitable. I live on welfare so hospice is a valuable asset to me.
Hospice can be free. Check it out.
Hospice is free for all Medicare and Medicaid. At least for now.
I’m on hospice I have 3 other health insurances hospice is free
لااله الاالله محمد رسول الله
Hospice is the best place to die. Seen too many people die in bleak side rooms in squalid NHS hospitals. If the NHS is so wonderful why does virtually every British doctor have private health insurance.
Speed...No waiting..NHS so slow....
Iprivately run hospitals can only dream of the huge huge amounts of money the NHS has had..
