When I was in my twenties and I am going back a ways into the late Seventies so that tells you something without discussing my age .....again when I was in my twenties I hung out with my colleagues in the oil business mixed in with the college kids. That was before I headed out to the west coast and changed professions. They were wild times between my work, the weekend outdoor adventures that we would go on and the parties. We burned the candle at both ends. I'm sure some of you out there did that as well. We drank a lot of stuff I don't drink today but I have good memories of Bushmills and it was the cheapest bottle of Bushmills you could buy. And we thought this was a high end whiskey. No it wasn't a Jameson and maybe I could say that a cheap Jameson just didn't go down right. In those days we didn't do the nose and palate thing. It was unsophisticated rough and tough drinking but I think I should retract that statement on Jameson because I really don't remember exactly why we didn't drink it. Was it just a Bushmill crowd I hung out with and Jameson didn't get a fair chance? If we were drinking anything it was not Top Shelf stuff and rarely made the mid shelf. The last I checked Jameson was the Number One Irish Whiskey on the planet. I guess I haven't been with the program. This review should give Jameson a fair shot at making an honest unbiased impression on me and maybe the rest of you if it hasn't already already. It has a chance to be a player and hang out with some of my other Irish whiskey favorites. That's a little tongue and cheek. Enjoy the review.

This bottle is way over priced here in the UK, luckily we have alternatives, I would recommend Redbreast 12 CS B1/22 ( a great batch) or J.J.Corry the Gael for half the price. Cheers Noel, sorry, I couldn't get behind you on this one for my mkt, but great tasting notes from you. I might try a pour for St. Patrick.

Hi James, I keep the 12 and 15 Red Breast on the shelf, always a favorite. I like my Tyrconnell 15 Madeira and 16 Oloroso-Moscotel cask from Cooley Distillery as well but I don't know if you can get it anymore. My son was going to buy me the 21 Red Breast as a gift (very expensive) so I told him I would prefer him to buy me the rare Irishman 17 cask strength single malt, still affordable (by Bernard and Rosemary Walsh of Walsh Whiskey). I believe it is from Bushmills. I have read some great reviews on it. I am waiting for a special occasion because it still has the lid on it. Tempting. The Irish are going through a Renaissance in whiskey making and you are seeing some amazing whiskies coming from so many new Irish distilleries. Slàinte Mhath
