On "My Car Story" we're at the Wisconsin State Fair Park in West Allis WI on 2-22-18 at the World of Wheels car show.
We're looking at a 1958 Chevrolet Corvette Custom in Ruby Paint. The car has the 383 CI “Stroker” engine.
The car's Owner is Jim Stewart. Jim’s had the car since 1983. He said the car was recently restored and completed so it’s on the show circuit. After the shows are complete, he’ll drive the car again.
Looks like a nice ride.

Just came across this video. This is one beautiful Vette and love the color combination. All the custom touches are very cool. I love what he did with the fuel filler and cap. I am amazed though as trick as the car is that the three screws that mount the filler ring are not flush. The flat heads stick out. Not to pick it apart but it is so clean and custom that it stuck out to me.

For 21 years I owned a 58 Corvette original 283 four barrel , original 3 speed. Two tops. 90% original car. 8+ driver.
In 2004 I went into a Chevrolet dealership to buy a Tahoe, i was trading in a Jeep Cherokee . As I was signing the paperwork the salesman said " it is too bad you weren't trading in or currently OWN a Chevrolet, GM currently has a $2500 .00 off for loyality" .
I said great - take off $2500 00 I own a Chevrolet. He asked to see the NJ DMV registration. That salesmans eyes bulged out and he said does this say1958. Yep. He said it has to run. I said cool Ill go get it and take you for a ride.
They had to call GM corporated to check if the 1958 qualified for the 2500 bucks. At GM corporate I overheard them tell the salesman that a Chevrolet is a Chevrolet- give the man his $2500.00. They did.
The owner of the dealership had one request and that was if they could put my 1958 Corvette on display in their showroom for a few weeks which I said SURE.

Thanks Jim and Lou! That gas cap recess and other tricks (stroker with 450 hp, wow!)are something to aspire to! Boss custom work, great color scheme. I hope to own a 4-speed Chevy stroker one day (building a Chevelle or Nova after I retire).

Mine too, but also my favorite is the 1967 L-88 /ZL-1 Four speed Muncie M-21 with a Hurst Super shifter-3 with the lock out reverse
which I have in my 1970 Original SS 402????? with 4.11-1 Spool with Strange Axles. You need to fabricate the floor to fit that shifter, but it's worth every inch once it's installed with a boot and screwed down with new carpet. You will never miss a gear or grind a synchro again.

Such a lovely Ruby Dream and over the top beautiful!! I don't usually say much about engine fans... never actually, but this one just needs to be in this sweet ride... Perfect for it!!!!! And, Ooooo.... gorgeous shiny shiny engine!! Love the chrome piece down the center of those plush seats. And the front end is chrome-a-licious! I have another to add to my favs now! The color is just soooo pretty! All around winner, I love it!! Great vid! Thank you.
