Can we just talk about how Ethan is arguably the least prepared protagonist in terms of what he has to do? Like, at least Claire was trained by her brother, Ethan's a damn systems engineer fighting a near immortal family, a bunch of discount Venoms, constant mind control, and his own wife. The balls on this guy.

@@c4blastmanc-178 I think you're forgetting the fact that SHE DIDN'T DO IT ON PURPOSE. It was Eveline who made her that way from the corruption with the fungus. She tried multiple times to stop Ethan from getting involved in this whole mess. It's not fair to blame and hate Mia for all the things that happened to Ethan, especially with all the trauma she went through. Both girls have been through a lot and no one is in the right or the wrong, but Mia is not a bad person. She's a victim, just like Ethan.

@@LT-kh5qh Well personally I didn't pick her my first playthrough because of how many red flags she was giving off. All I knew was that she was lying about the reason she went away in the first place, seemed dangerously out of control, and was clearly involved in something dangerous that she roped Ethan into. I also believed that I was at the end of the game, and she was likely to try to kill me in the boat, either because she's still unstable, or she valued the project's secrecy over Ethan's life. No matter how I saw it Zoe was the safer bet, but that's not the way it turned out.

To explain, the D-Type Serum only weakens Eveline's control, it does not cure you. If you give it to Mia, it allows her to resist Eveline's control, but if it's given to Zoe, because Eveline doesn't like Zoe, she just kills her
And it also explains why we see Zoe in the "hive mind scene" before going back to gameplay as Ethan. By the time Mia reaches him, Zoe has already been "cristalized" as seen in the first minutes of The End of Zoe.
At the end of the day, picking Zoe is just fuckery. She dies, Mia dies, everyone dies and the story doesn't make sense. They didn't keep the DLCs in mind when they thought about that in-game choice. They literally show you don't really have a choice lore-wise in the main game.
^ They also didn’t keep in mind the next game. If everyone dies, then the lore is just fucked up from the first cutscene.
i figured it would be similar to the choices you make at the end of Undertale's genocide run: Erase, or Do Not. because either way, choices do not matter regardless of one's morals.
This isnt before RE2 because there was a newspaper that says “remembering the raccoon city tragedy 14 years later.”

And the fact that umbrella has already fallen, the BSAA has already been made, hell, part 4 was 6 years after raccoon city blew up, and Chris is now working for a new version of Umbrella. This is a sequel/reboot after part 6. There is no zombie Apocalypse. Thus why fans call it RE7. Mark is a little off.

I picked Zoe my first playthrough. My logic was "Mia is the obvious choice. Zoe has helped me through this entire thing. Mia is my wife, but she's been hiding something, and she freakin cut my hand off." Then Zoe died anyway and I immediately realized how horrible my mistake was. Not my proudest moment. That decision still haunts me.
I never played it, but I felt like Zoe would be the choice because it's Zoe's serum. She made it. To me it felt like it /belonged/ to her. Idk. Mia is the obvious emotional choice, but it felt like Zoe deserved it because she made it. So I feel you on picking Zoe

I always picked mia, and only chose Zoe once to get all the trophies. I never liked zoe if I am honest, at least not until the DLC’s came out. I started to like her more after that… Always still choose Mia

Just a bit of ptsd for a while. He seems like a pretty strong minded and brave person so I don’t think he would be that messed up from mutated monsters but Mia didn’t seem too stable throughout the game

When Eveline cries and asks why everyone hates her.....a part of me felt bad for her.
Sure, she was the cause of all this. But like all living things, she didn't ask to be born into the world the way she was. This line alone makes me believe that the "empathy" part of that one note earlier that suggests she was making up for a lack of love in her upbringing was truly the case.
Edit: Also Mark, I know it's years late and you may know this already but RE7 takes place in 2017 while RE1/RE2/RE3 took place in 1998. So this is happens after the Raccoon City Incident. They just messed up Chris' model lmao
Something that I haven't seen anyone else mention in their defense of Eveline is that the newspaper at the end says how "the Product" (Eveline) goes insane and harms the people around her if her medication doses are skipped. It's very possible that she's normally well-behaved and kind, but someone on board that ship was sabotaging her doses. Why would the newspaper mention it otherwise? And if she was always that way, then why didn't she sabotage her creators/handlers sooner?
I haven't seen past this point in the game yet, so I might be proven wrong, but for now, I fully believe that Eveline never intended to be this way. Skipped doses, being forcibly aged faster than normal so she never had time to mentally mature, and growing up as just a test subject/bioweapon all made her crazy for affection. I completely feel bad for her.
@@AShatteredDragonsSpirit I have never not felt sorry for Eveline, she is biggest victim in all this, and Ethan's little speech at the end just makes him sound like a douche. Also, Jack says he's not a killer, but there's pictures in the house that indicate he was in the army(navy?), so that's a lie.

The "why does everyone hate me?" line will always break my heart. I feel like Eveline never asked for this life, to be an experiment, to not have any family, I can see how she feels isolated, alone, maybe even hated as the ones she chose as parents rejected her. Even in an older body she still has the mindset of the child she is. She just wants to be accepted and to have a family.
I'm watching this series for the second time and I totally forgot about that little scene and my heart is broken all OVER AGAIN I am so upset T_T

What's really subtle about the scene with the Bakers' father is that it's alluding to the idea you're speaking with him in the afterlife, as you just killed him with the serum. If you choose Mia, you never really _see_ Zoe die, but since she's there with you both, it makes you feel guilty that you left her behind to die after she helped you from the beginning.
This game is so good.

The fact that Eveline is a bioweapon, developed for fighting with the brain of a 10 year old girl, when she knows she’s been defeated when she gets injected and says “why does everyone hate me?” She’s genuinely asking because she isn’t human enough to understand. She simply CANT understand because she isn’t human. She was treated like a weapon by most except Mia and such, so she assumed that they wanted to be part of the family that she craved.
It truly is a sad life that she lived. I feel really bad for her.

The events of the game happened after Raccoon City and the events of RE6. That Umbrella logo is the one for the organisation created by former Umbrella employees known as Blue Umbrella. The goal of this Umbrella is to eradicate B.O.W.s. (Bio Organic Weapons). Chris didn't trust them at first but he seemed to team up with them for Eveline.
The "Rival company" to the original Umbrella you mentioned last time is known as The Connections, who Mia was an agent for and kept it from Ethan, that's why she said "I lied" in the video for him. It was because she lied about her job.

I wonder then if Chris falls out from Blue Umbrella in RE8. Considering he "kills" Mia and pulls Ethan into yet another sort of hellish shitstorm of bio-weapons and evil corporations. Hell, Blue Umbrella could just be a cover-up. They pretend to "clean" the mess that original Umbrella did and gather new weapons made by their competitors and stuff.

Because god damn, irrational as fuck to try and "hug" a super bio weapon that is out to kill everything regardless of whether it "acts like your mommy/daddy". As we can see, Eve became very unstable and unpredictable.
In the middle of hugging, she'd probably infect you and say "now we can be together forever" and everytime you try and disagree, she'd mind control your ass to do what she wanted. Then you'd die from the infection.

So, the CZcams app can connect to your TV. Me and my mother-in-law each have a Vizio TV. One night I was trying to watch this episode and I tried to put it on the big screen. I didn't know which TV was mine, so I picked one. Nothing. I picked the other one and it worked. A few days later my mother-in-law said she was haunted by the devil because the TV turned on by itself and greeted her with "HELLO! MY NAME IS MARKIPLIER!"

I think the real kick to the groin in the ending where you picked Zoe is that... Mia was missing for three years. In that amount of time, even if he still loved her, Ethan most likely accepted her disappearance. Then, he receives word that she's alive and safe. He sees her, he talks to her. He was so desperate to save her. And in the end, he has to fight her. Has to *kill* her. Not only did it all get his hopes up to save his wife and then lose her, he was the one who had to fight her. And *that*, is the truly heartbreaking part of that to me.

Actually Mark, this game's date setting was in 2017; meaning this was in fact after the apocalypse. Also, notice how the Umbrella Corp's logo was blue, instead of red like in every other game. This means that Chris Redfield may have re-founded an improved Umbrella Corp. Anyone else agree with me?

If Zoe didn't tell you to inject the serum into the monster (Don't remember name), Ethan would have died, Zoe would have died, Mia would have died, also without Zoe you would be stuck there, in the Baker house and Zoe was the only way you would get the serum as Ethan wouldn't be able to make them properly.

I think it's an interesting point that it seems the more people she "infected"/"possessed" the worse her own condition seemed to become. Like, Mark said she was "spreading herself too thin". Lucas makes that comment about how "she's making them collect more and more people for her family" and quickly follows it with "She's getting wrinkly and grey haired, like shes getting old".
Later, when Lucas starts wantonly ripping off his own finger tips he says "what?! WHAT EVALYN?! I'M JUST TRYING TO SHOW HIM!" as though she was telling him to stop. I think maybe her "regenerating" abilities were not infinite. Perhaps her mold spores could only "heal/regrow" people so many times, and each time part of her "body" had to be regrown it zapped some of her overall energy. Causing her physical form to wither and "age" more rapidly.

Yeah that seemed to be hinted at in the diaries, and everytime Mr.baker would fight you, he would say "shut up shut up shut up". As if talking to Eveline...There's a lot to uncover in the coming dlc's.
Like Toxic said, that's most likely not the case. Aside from the files, during the flashback/VHS episode with Mia and Alan acting as Umbrella operatives on the boat, she mentions that Eveline hasn't been receiving her treatment and she is deteriorating. This is also noted after the end credits where it displays a newspaper with a picture of the Baker family. If you pause the video, and read the passages, it says that if skipping multiple injections, Eveline will age rapidly, up to 25x faster.

It's funny you talk about the "rational" choice when choosing between Mia and Zoe, Mark.
Because choosing Mia isn't the rational choice, it's the emotional one. Because she's your wife. Because you love her. Because you came here for her.
Zoe helped Ethan find and make the cure, in exchange for the promise that she'd get one. She probably risked her life getting the D-series head just as much as Ethan did getting the arm.
Zoe earned a serum by her actions and the deal she made with Ethan. All Mia's got is being his wife.
So yeah it's the emotional choice VS the rational one. And the game punishes you for the rational one but that's fine. =P
Zoe couldn't die, like the rest of her family. She was very clearly using the people captured to get what see wanted. I'm pretty sure in the beginning when she told him to go to the attic, that she knew he'd get caught by her dad. There was no way he'd make it out of the attic. She wanted him in the main house so she could get what she wanted. She probably got the head the same way, making one of the victims find it for her. She didn't really help ethan at all, other than tell him to go upstairs in the old house. I can see why people could still pick Zoe, but both decisions are rational. Both Mia and Zoe were victims, but both did things that were bad. Zoe: sacrificing the missing people to do what she wanted and Mia: working for umbrella to engineer a bioweapon.

It's actually (technically) the first. According to the in-game files (specifically one in the last episode), the company that made Eveline introduces the fungus while the subject is still an embryo. This is why the shriveled bodies in the cases look like fetuses.

...I think Mark COMPLETELY misunderstood the parts of the story that weren't directly explained. This isn't a 'new start', it takes place in 2017, AFTER Resi 6. Umbrella has LONG shut down, they shut down before Resi 4 started. Neo Umbrella is still a threat, although how much is unknown after Resi 6, but the normal Umbrella Corp. was re-branded as an Anti-BOW group, which Chris joined. And with people saying 'Redfield' isn't Chris, he totally is, it even says so in the credits. Its actually a pretty common thing for lets players to think 'Umbrella did it' when umbrella hasn't really been around for a long time.

Although I'm not that familiar with Resident Evil's story, I can't say I blame him. It's a bit difficult to get a read on the timeline in the middle of a rotten bog.
Orph of the Abyss one theory is that the man claiming to be Redfield, is actually an agent of Umbrella impersonating the hero Chris Redfield in an attempt to find out what Ethan learned about the incident to cover it up. The dlc to come out "Not a Hero" was the first major hint
malz koibg actually there's a news paper stating the outbreak in racoon city was 16 years ago and it says in multiple places it's 2017 making it impossible for it to before RE6, the whole game is basically an accident it was never meant to happen, Evelyn escaped, destroyed the ship and it ended close to the bakers estate and Jack inspected it after Lucas said he saw it, found the girl and she infected them, and made them kill to make a bigger family, also that's not a normal umbrella logo, which no one seems to talk about..
