Another year where the odds massively underrate Portugal, it was the same in 2021 and 2022.

i guess the whole video idea is kinda wrong bc the odds predict winning possibility not final result (and we could see it when Ireland was both 8th in the odds for winning and for finishing last, meaning they’re 8th and 19th at the same time), but actually in most of the cases i’m glad the odds were mistaken

What do we learn every year? Don't underestimate Portugal and don't overestimate Austria. And yet it happens every year.

Countries like Austria, Czechia, Denmark, Ireland and Germany need a potentially winning song to get a high score, while countries like Portugal, Serbia, Israel and Sweden will always score higher than the quality of their song.

@@bram.desmet8687 I disagree with you, at least partly. You're right about Czechia, Denmark, Israel, Sweden, Austria and probably Ireland too. But you're wrong about the others. Portugal and Serbia always bring quality to the contest and as a German, our entries are mostly just bad (remember 2021?).

@@christianglas1584 The German act of 2021 was a big joke, but there were editions when it deserved a higher place. This year's song is a radio hit, but only placed 12th. Top 6 was impossible, Switzerland, Croatia, Ukraine, France, Ireland and the Netherlands were clearly better than the rest, but there are still a number of acts that I am surprised that finished above Germany.
Portugal and Serbia rarely send acts that should end at the bottom, but even with less good acts I notice that they always end up higher than I expected

Ukraine would have won this year's Eurovision if Joost was allowed to participate, because every other countries (except Ukraine) would have their points massively (in some way) reduced, even Joost himself wouldn't survive.
