The Jag/Sky King combo sounds really good, it’s very easy for Jags to get ice-picky but the Sky King kept it in check. Bright but not in a bad way. I enjoyed this one Fluff, this is gear a bit more akin to what I use as opposed to the metal-esque amps you usually feature. Good stuff.
Strange that the price would qualify the Sky King as a non-beginner amp. I would say it is the perfect beginner's amp, because it your play immediately sounds better, motivating you through the first year when you are working through the basics, and also you do not have to keep buying better amps as you grow, just explore more of its features. More over, the attenuator ensures you can play it anywhere.
It may be expensive, but it seems like a case where you get what you pay for. The craftsmanship and quality of materials look first class, and the sound is lovely, even on a recording on CZcams. It probably sounds fantastic in person.
Great video Fluff. This beast weighs 60lbs, not made out of balsa wood for sure. LOL Very nice sound. Their Imperial MK II I think that's the one, 20 watts is a great sounding amp also.
Looks like they've changed the Sky King since I bought mine. This one has a different speaker (mine is an 8 ohm Celestion G12M Creamback), and 8 and 16 ohm output, instead of the 4 and 8 ohm on mine. I believe the new one is PCB, not hand-wired, as well. Tone King does PCB right, so I wouldn't get hung up on wanting a hand-wired version. I won't criticize the demo, but this sounded NOTHING like mine. It's really hard to capture tone. I think listening to amp demos on CZcams is a bit like trying to describe flavour on a cooking show. In person, this amp is warm, rich, and really nuanced. I disagree with the EQ settings in this video...you don't simply put everything to 12 o'clock. The manual comes with suggested settings for different clean and lead settings in both pentode and ultralinear. They make a huge difference.
Apologies, but that sounded lifeless and dull... on hearing this, I would consider it overpriced and underwhelming... However, I've actually got a Sky King, and it's an amazing combo, it's expansive, warm, crystal clear and has the sweetest tones, accommodates all pups and body profiles, great with most pedals, the rhythm channel is immense... The one fundamental mistake I've seen people doing with this amp is set everything to noon/neutral, it simply doesn't do it justice, there are not a lot of controls to work with, sort of a hint that you need to dial in the eq with a wee bit of finesse... and, it's not difficult to get a great sound off the bat, use your ears, the variables of multi eq controls has been greatly reduced, it's simply an exercise in tweaking to suit... I was after a TwoRock and this blew it away, for the sound I was after, I've got a Mesa and Brunetti, both of which I really like, the Sky King is seriously on another level.
Love my Sky King! Best pedal amp I've ever played, although usually it sounds so good I dont end up using any of the pedals lol. What settings did you have for the heavier rhythm stuff with the PRS?
This Sky King sounds close to, but better than the Fender Bassbreaker 45. Nice sounding amp, but I do not think it merits the 3,000 dollar price tag. But mostly, the demo did this amp justice to explore humbucker and single coil guitar sounds and tones it is capable of.
It’s funny seeing the sad little monoprice in the corner just wishing it could be that amp
It's like peeking around the corner.....if that Skyking gets shanked somewhere down the road.....I know who I'd question first.
I feel on Riffs Beards and Gear we don't talk about beards enough
He needs to have segments on beard grooming or fun topics involving beards. Maybe like a rate my beard.
rate or roast my beard instead of rig lol

The name and color takes me back many years and fond memories of, Sky King's, airplane.

As a Tone King fan, it's nice to see you doing this kind of amp. Cheers.

Those crunch tones give me tingles
I like the features, but I'm underwhelmed by the sound of it, honestly. I'd rather get a Mesa for that money.
This was a refreshing demo.
Sounds good. Even has a built in attenuator.
Nice combo and demo
What a magnificent amp!
Love the vids! keep it up! also, What are your favorite non-music hobbies?
slow panning shots of fluff playing his PRS....
BALL GAZERS!!!
Great demo/review
Hearing fluff say succulent makes me uncomfortable.. I NEED AN ADULT!
STRANGER DANGER!

Would you say the old Version is as good as the new one? I have the chance to buy a used one G12M Version for a good price
Sounds like butter. Tasty.
I love that color

I bet this amp takes pedals extremely well
Holy crap he mic’d something!
But comparing to a Blackstar Artisan 30? Which one do you prefer ;-)
Ola would have call it: a grandpa amp! 😁
I like it tho!

I still think you should a warmoth build with specs based around the cheapest guitar from amazon
Nice video!
I love how the monoprice amp is peeking around the corner, wondering why it's being ignored.
Being an "influencer" they get so much cool gear free.
Notification squad
Fluff! Make a new Intro!!!
And I'm just sitting here hoping that anyone makes good kemper profiles of that amp
Sounds Amazing! Add that to the list of shit I'll never be able to afford....or justify.
I been jonesing to hear the jaguar tbh
I thought Ide like this amp but I don’t get it.
*plays non metal amp*
“THIS IS VINTAGE OLD TONE YOUR GRANDMA PLAYED”
😂😂😂
3000 dollars for 35 watts? You're joking? *jokes*
3k and no effects loop??
All the gain comes from the power amp.
rip skyking.
put his nose down and called it a night.
I'm Mr Meesseeks, look at me
Now all you have to do is plug your viper into it for the real test of tones lol
to me it does not sound like 3,000 dalliers mor like 300 to 600 dallors.
Rad amp
First
Cleans are kinda underwhelming!
$3000.00 for a hybrid non handwired amp...REALLY? My $399.00 Quilter 101 with Reverb sounds better than this amp.
((( nah
Looks poofy.
Doesn't djent 😕
