  • Hey guys -- I have a quick update on my Hydroconquest Ceramic. While filming some b-roll footage, I noticed some serious quality issues on the watch, and unfortunately had to send it back. So here are some quick thoughts and updates on it.

    My compliments, Sir. Nice, calming intro and outro music, unlike the throbbing crap most channels use! Regarding the watches; both those Longines Divers would look much classier without the date complication.

      Hi there!!! I am SO sorry for the delay - CZcams hasn’t been notifying me of comments on this video for some reason! Thank you so much for your lovely comment and I agree, I hate when videos have horrid electronic music! I’m glad this was calming. :) And I agree! I wish Longines still made the non-date version of the Legend. Cheers!

    • @joshswatches
      @joshswatches  Před rokem

      The bracelet is good, don’t get me wrong. I just felt like it could have been a little more polished around the edges, and the fact that there were no buttons to deploy it meant you have to yank the clasp open which just IMO felt inelegant. Also because the Swatch group as a whole has some amazing bracelets that they could have borrowed from. But that’s just my opinion. Even just adding buttons would take it from good to great!

    That's sad with the QC... I had the same issue with the AR and the crystal with a Certina. They changed the crystal and even the new crystal still had issues like that... Seiko QC is terrible in other ways... Not sure which one to really go for nowadays. Need to get your magnifier down to an AD and truly inspect the piece before taking it home, 😅

    Legend diver is truly unique. I love Longines and was between a conquest vhp and hydroconquest and ended up with the vhp with black dial. I couldn’t justify paying double for an even more generic looking watch.

      Michael Z. I’m stoked with it - delivered yesterday. And on Longines in general - there are some real deals to be had right now, got my Legend for 40% off from Bloomingdales. If you still want a Hydroconquest, there have been some great sales on it recently from all the major department stores. Thanks for watching, cheers!

    Sucks to hear the watch was damaged. Still a pretty good looking watch with great finishing and movement. I've also heard the bracelet is meh. Did you see the boutique version they released recently? It has a ceramic dial in green and an improved bracelet.
    Interestingly I once bought a Tissot Visodate that the case came scratched from the AD. I wonder if ADs aren't as careful with "entry level watches" as they are with others.

    • @joshswatches
      @joshswatches  Před 4 lety

      Enrique S B Hi there! Yeah - such a bummer about the crystal, that’s totally something that I assume slipped through Longines QC though, though, since mine came directly from Swatch USA - I can’t even imagine how hard that crystal had to get knocked for it to have scratched/chipped like that.
      And I have seen the green one! I wish the green was more of an emerald like what Oris does with the Aquis. It comes with the same bracelet (I think) that’s on the USA limited edition. To me the issue was the bracelet was that it didn’t drape nicely and was really hollow feeling. Sort of like a low end Seiko diver. And oh man! That’s no bueno about the visodate. I definitely know Bloomingdale’s doesn’t pay as much attention with these as they probably should, but it also makes returns a lot easier too! Cheers! And thanks for watching!

    Super late but I was wondering where you got those leather braided bracelets from? The red one and the double white one? They look super nice and seem like great quality.

    • @joshswatches
      @joshswatches  Před 2 lety

      Hello! The red one is an Omega sailing bracelet ($300) and actually rubber, and the white is from Kiel James Patrick ($30 I think) and actually is braided rope. Both are great! If you’re looking for leather, Kiel James Patrick does make some in leather and I also have a few from Elegatto that I like too. On the higher end, Ferragamo and Bottega Veneta both make beautiful leather bracelets as well. Cheers!!

      Thank you! It’s very easy to remove the bracelet, the boutique edition (I assume you mean the boutique exclusive green version) is nice but WAY overpriced in my opinion. I don’t think this watch is worth anything more than $1,200 USD / €1,000 and the boutique version doesn’t change anything besides the color. Hope this helps!

To answer your question - I think it is worth the extra money but I personally still can’t get over the bracelet. I would say if you’re interested in it, get the Hydroconquest in a different color and you’ll be set. I think both the blue and grey versions of the Hydroconquest are really nice and noticeably different from the Tissot, so the two wouldn’t be redundant in your collection. Hope this helps!!

    That’s too bad you got one with all those scratches. I noticed those big box store purchases can be hit or miss. While my Longines purchase was good, another watch, Hamilton, had couple small chips on the case. Since I got it on 50 percent sale under $400, I am keeping it, but pretty certain it may have been a “floor” model as the box it came in had lints and dust.

    • @joshswatches
      @joshswatches  Před 4 lety +1

      I totally agree. I try to purchase from Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s because on many items they’ll ship “direct from the vendor”, in other words right from Swatch USA or Seiko America, etc. but I feel you on the price - I think my Legend was a floor model or display but I got it for about 50% off so like you I’m keeping it and am perfectly happy given the price. Thanks for watching! Cheers!

      @joshswatches  Před 3 lety +2

      They do but as you may see in my other videos I don’t baby my watches at all, even my high end pieces from Omega and such. They’re tools and made to be worn and wearing them and beating on them is how I feel like I get my money’s worth out of them. Just me, of course. :) And as for this watch, it came directly from Swatch Group distribution with all its original tape and film. It is possible that it was a return to them and they refurbished and repackaged it but even still, I suspect it was probably a QC oversight in manufacturing.

    If they would make the 39mm again like the generation 1, I would buy it again. Sold mine because it is too big. Don’t think that the bracelet is too bad but I know what you mean. And I never saw a bracelet that catches so many scratches. So a nice rubber or nato is the best choice.
