In the episode 3 is still a hope with Captain Marvel but in this one, all is erased. This episode is the darkest thing in all the MCU.

I did not think that this show would go so far as to have a tragic horror story, and goddamn did it end tragically.
That final scene of Strange just whimpering “No, no, no, I’m sorry.” has to be one of the most heartbreaking scenes I have seen in years.

Not happy endings really, but at least the first three episodes had *hopeful* endings where there is still a light at the end of the tunnel.
This is the first time where it's just a dark, tragic, hopeless ending.
The way Strange screams like "Nooo!" is really hit me. It brokes my heart alot.

Strange going full Wanda mode over here, but instead of a single town Strange destroys the entire Universe.
at least this doctor knows he did something wrong and doesn't have a "They’ll never know what you sacrificed for them" that was so stupid. this is way more realistic and strange knows he is the bad guy here

You can't compare Dr. Strange with Wanda, He is cosmic level magician. Many times he became cosmic entity in comics. Mephisto and Dr. Doom are real Dr. Strange level threat.

Doctor Strange is not evil, he was just blinded by grief. This episode was beautiful, sad, but beautiful.
He became evil because of that blinded grief, you just don't selfishly trade-in the universe for a lost love. We as people lose loved ones all the time, and we must move on despite the grief. Strange was insulting to people that tried to talk to him and all, giving him advice like the O'Benghe character, and he ignored them.
You know who else attempted to destroy everything in their blind grief and rage? Dracula from Castlevania

I think I understand now why Elizabeth keeps saying MoM will be a horror. This is just one episode it has all the negative emotions already, including fear.
@@grevoron this was the best episode of what if yet… T’Challa as Star-Lord, hammed in, Peggy as Captain, Awkward but a little fun, Dead Avengers, good murder mystery, but this was a whole other level.
Unfortunately, It's not gonna get actually scary because they want to keep it pg-13. Apparently spiderman becoming a spider is too scary and the episode didn't get the green light for that reason, yet the 90s animated tv show pretty much had that stortline
I still feel Scott Dereksin was worthy enough to helm this type of project better than Raimi because fundamentally, he’d worked with the character from day one and with the journey Strange was on, Scott deserves the right to continue. This might sound stupid become I’m not happy about Sam Raimi being back with marvel, but I just wish it happened on different terms

I like that the Watcher was finally forced to speak with Dr. Strange. You could hear the anger in Uatu's (the Watcher's) voice, he was angry at his oath, but still would not violate it. This ending reminded me of the What If comics, and all the times that he had to simply sit back while the universe he is watching is falling apart.
Food for thought, if these stories are canon, is it possible that this Dr. Strange may show up in the multiverse of madness, perhaps even as a villain? What If? ;)
i doubt it, since he literally destroyed everything. It's just him left inside that tiny little space. He prolly died of like asphyxiation shortly after or something.

I remember having seen part of the trailers where this Darker Strange interacts with Captain Carter, so if he actually make it out of his prison where I imagine he spends an eternity regretting his actions, and get somehow thrown in another timeline or universe, he'so gonna be SO humbled by his past actions and grateful to see life again that he's gonna become one of the greatest protectors of all timelines.

Damn, multiverse is a bitch. Here we have a universe where Christine lives, and Strange still became a sorcerer, and yet in the episode's one the time stone is like: "What? Her, alive? Nope, don't know what you talking about, never happens".

In this Universe, her death led Stephen to become the Sorcerer Supreme. If he saves her, he no longer becomes the Sorcerer Supreme, thus never even being able to save her.
This creates a paradox, which makes the universe go 'SYNTAX ERROR' and collapse in on itself.
Well it was going to happen, in multiverse any possibility is explored, everything can and will happen, in some universes the worst happens, in others, it happens the best

also the TVA exist in order to stop the birth of new Kangs, in this universe Strange killed both versions of Kang.

I don't think I will ever forget that line and That conversation between Strange and The Watcher at the end of that episode gave me chills man and to just see Strange crying "I'm sorry" when all the universe is destroyed because of him was heart rending and I was so sure things would work out but it didn't. What if...keeps getting better and better. I never expected an episode like this. It was genuinely scary to see Strange crack to the point where he sacrificed the universe and still never got the one he loved. But like The Watcher sticks to his job description man. He does not interfere. Somebody give the man a raise cause he is doing his job haha. (Me trying to joke because this episode really cracked my mind).

I feel like this episode demonstrated how high the stakes are with their storytelling in the multiverse. They can and will let a worst-case scenario happen.

Actually in this universe Strange was still in a relationship with Christine and thus they both were in the car that time. While in our cannon universe he already broke up with her prior to the accident and thus loses his hands.
he still does care for her. The only thing he kept from his previous life was a watch with Christine marked on the back. He still loves her

My theory is dr. Strange uses the same spell to peter parker that ancient one did to him. He split the timeline where spidey's identity is reveal while the other is no spiderman.

So... I don't think his universe is completely destroyed. I think that it still exists as a pocket universe that only encompasses that crystalline space with Dark Strange trapped inside it and that at some point, someone is going to accidentally create a door into that pocket reality and he's going to escape.
This could be a taste of what we might see in Multiverse of Madness and part of No Way Home as well.

This episode reminded of Groundhog Day when Bill Murray's character encountered the homeless man. It didn't matter how long or how hard he tried, the man kept dying time after time after time.

The whole thing reminded me of WandaVision. What that says to me is that if Wanda and Strange are both Nexus beings, Nexus beings all have a similar origin, like their process of "birth" is almost always the same, and always out of unfathomable grief. I think it's the Universe's way of showing us how important they are. To me, that's really sad, but I think that's probably just how it is in this Universe.

Wow this has been my favorite episode so far. Dr strange movies have so much potential. this could of been a movie...
I lost my mum this April because of Cancer. This episode made me really ask myself how far I would go if I had the slightest chance to bring her back. I never thought I would relate to this dark Dr. Strange so much but I really loved this episode. For me it had so much depth and it made me really emotional, him dealing with the loss of his loved one is so so true

I like that each universe seems to operate by its own rules, given we know what happens to Christine definitely *isn’t* absolute in the main timeline. It’s such an interesting wrinkle to how the multiverse works in this franchise.
My thought is that, if Strange had saved Christina but broken his hands himself (by putting them against the windshield or something), or any other action to force his past self into seeking out the mystic arts, maybe it would have worked as a substitute Absolute Point and Christine would have remained alive. But nobody in this universe would have thought to do that.
What if the Doctor Strange we see in the No Way Home trailer is THIS one? (Also no the good Strange in this episode isn’t from the prime mcu universe because Christine is alive in that original universe)

Obito didnt want to time travel or destroy the world, he wanted to put everyone in a never ending dream where their wishes would come true and loved ones would not die.
The only common point is their motivation to change their past.
One wanted to literally do it and the other wanted to be in a dream world where it changes.

When he started absorbing the various mystic beings, I feel like a few of them were pretty adjacent to some pretty particular demons.

When we see Doctor Strange begging instead of bargaining we know the universe is f*cked
Episode 3 and 4 are my favorites, truly amazing how many things can change and lead to such sad and catastrophic events
So 4 episodes so far, 4 timelines. 1 appeared to be safe, 2 was likely mostly destroyed by Ego, 3 killed off the Avengers, and 4 was completely destroyed. I think a lot of people owe the TVA an apology.
But can the TVA really stop someone like evil Dr. Strange or Ego?
@@martinonuegbu1384 I mean, the entire point of the TVA was to stop these timelines from existing, so evil Strange would never exist, and the GOTG stopped Ego in the sacred timeline.
Roadie was not injured at the beginning of Dr. Strange, those two events are years apart. The injured person was the guy at Hammer Industries who twisted his spine in a prototype Iron Man copy suit.
The best part is when strange go to last of his atom to save Christian but could not save her!!

This had the same "Pre-destination Paradox" as The Time Machine (the 2002 version).
He can't save the girl because he built the time machine for that reason. You can't take away the cause of your own actions.
So the lady he loves in the Time Machine does over and over like this.
This is like foreshadowing Wanda's fall.... What if Wanda goes down this path?

This episode really answered our question of "what happens if you tamper with time??" as warned multiple times in the first Doctor Strange movie. He tampered with time a lot to put Dormammu in a time loop yet nothing happened, so i guess all the destructions were not considered as "absolute point", they're only a part of character development (as one may call it) for Doctor Strange. Christine's death is supposed to be another character arch for him, as said by Ancient One. Just like if our Doctor Strange never broke his hands, he would still be the arrogant surgeon and Ancient One would have no successor to replace her (or their) as the Sorcerer Supreme.

So, now we have a Stephen Strange who is: chock full of inter AND extra dimensional beings, psychologically broken and now emotionally shattered, just floating around the void in between universes. Safest bet for any other reality out there would be if he just dropped the barrier and dissolved with everyone else.
This is one of the best episode in Marvel

SO HAPPY they got Bennidict Cummerbach to act as Strange! Heck, they got everyone!
The performance by Cummerbach sold the story.
Best episode yet by far.
Expect more dark episodes- What If? has always been the "Twilight Zone" of Marvel Comics.

You like this new episode. (Or some other episode.) You like it so much, you want to see the story-line revisited in a later episode. You also liked a previous episode and would want to see more from that world as well. But, It's an Anthology Series. The only reason you found this new episode is because it was provided as a new story instead of an extension for an older one. To get more from this world would mean denying you newer, perhaps more interesting stories set in a different world you can't even imagine. The most interesting aspect behind this series, the part that brings the most joy, is the part most people want to remove. The Anthology Series Paradox.
