Whatever your stance is on donks, by now the big wheel fitment game is down to a science. But just fitting is one thing; making it work with over 1000hp is a whole different ball game. Ron Baugh from Wheel Pros joins us and drops some knowledge on the specs we’ll need for our actual, custom set of BBS LM spec donk wheels.

I've always thought donks are kind of absurd, and I can't see doing that to a car. At the same time, I'm kind of excited for this build. Weird, right?
On my channel I put stock trucks through quite a bit of abuse in the mountains and go for some amazing drives. I just want to make people laugh.

Yeah it needs the skirts, every Donk ‘70-76 Caprice is running them skirts. It won’t look right without them.

This ‘73 Caprice makes over 1300+ HP and is still rocking them skirts. It’s kind of a must in the Donk world, it tucks the wheels a lot better.

Of course, if I was building one of these in the first place(on the to-do list, behind a whole pile of other builds...), it would be a big body '70s 2 door Lincoln or Mercury with a big cube BBF instead of the "what you're supposed to do" cookie cutter Cheby stuff, so I'm not exactly one to follow what everyone else does, lol

If you're going full send might as well back half and 4-link the whole rearend on 26x12s. Also Intro wheels have a design similar to what y'all are wanting and based in California.

It has a pretty good 4 link stock. Really no need to on these cars. Just stronger bars with better bushings is all it really needs.

Problem isn't wheel tubs, problem is frame rails. They're just trying to do a quick and dirty build, not trying to do extensive surgery.
Kyle B yeah but they also want the thing to be 1000+ hp. If they don’t take their time and do it all right in the safest way then this thing is gonna be way to sketchy to drive fast. I’d say also make the rear suspension a 4-link.
26" Ronal bears obviously is what it needs.

I’m doing Firebirds GTA mesh wheels on my Delta
They might only be 16’s but they still look good with my year 🤔
Hawks Motorsports sells a 17×9 replica of that wheel.
Also, just in case you hadn't noticed, those factory wheels have a different offset for the front and the rear. Just something to keep in mind when you're mounting them.

I’m from south Florida and typically when you see a high rider big wheels car they are jacked up like 4x4. I don’t care for this look at all.

Why don’t you shave some of the lip off the fender and C notch the frame to allow for suspension travel? Maybe go ford 9” rearend and narrow a bit?

26" forgiatos wire wheel, or 24" dayton wire wheel, hundred spoke, 24" 84's are a distant third by Texas wire wheel. I assume the gold plating across the board is understood.
I have no idea how to build a donk, up until this build I was pretty sure a donk was slang for big ass, but I can say that the only design you guys should do if you have a blower out the top is the purple with carbon bonnet and chrome hood pins
Pinion mount the braked will be cleaner give you better braking power and can narrow the rear end more
