Rocky, posted separately. If you look, my husband and I will take Charlie if we can get him to Illinois. We are retired, empty nesters, both our dogs passed away last summer within 3 weeks of each other. It broke my heart, and I have not wanted to get another dog until I saw Charlie. We can give him the home and love he needs. We live in a rural area😂 on an acre of land with a full fenced in back yard. Temperpedic dog beds waiting, several lab cousins to play with when he's ready, healthy homemade food, lots of pets and adventures, and an immeasurable amount of love to give. Can you get us any info about flying animals through airlines coach or private airline services?

My family and I rescued a chocolate lab who was moments away from being put down, and my mother decided that wasn’t going to happen and we sped over there and adopted him. He had been blinded by his previous owner who gave him horse medicine to heal his heart worms. But he’s in a much better home with us now, and even though he’s blind he knows his way around our house

As an owner of a black lab girl, this brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for all the beautiful work you and the rest do.
Although I'm a total cat person, this made me tear up, too. These are sentient beings just like us, and seeing one so broken down and then watching the spark reignite - these peoples' work is incredible.

I’ve had labradors all of my life (I’m 54), and I’ve never, ever seen one act like this. It’s just heartbreaking! This poor boy has obviously been neglected and abused. How could anyone treat an animal so horribly?! I have a yellow male lab right now, as well as a cream colored male Frenchie. All a Labrador wants to do is love you and be with you. I really hope and pray that someone sees that precious boy and adopts him, and loves him to pieces! If I lived closer to you, I live in Michigan, I would come and get him. Thank you so much for all that you do, too.

The paw in Rocky's hand made me tear up. What this poor dog must have been through to be so skittish and tentative, I cant imagine. I wish I could take him and take his pain away.

This is why I love dogs and cats and animals so much. More than people. I have seen the truth about society based on animal cruelty, and the amount of selfish, cruel people out there will astound you. We also have way, way too many damn breeders.

My dog is really skittish,has been since he was a pup, he was like that when I got him( just his personality)he is however getting alot better with tons of work from myself. So just because he's skittish doesn't always mean they've been abused or neglected
Oh, Charlie is breaking my heart. To see a Labrador shut down is the complete opposite of what they are naturally. They are so exuberant and full of love and humor. Hopefully Charlie gets a loving forever home soon, as he deserves the best dog life possible. I would take him in a heartbeat if I was allowed one more dog, but my town limits it to three, so I cannot. Dear Charlie, I’m rooting for you!💕🐾🐾
You TOWN won't let you have more than 3 dogs? I had no idea that was a thing.
@@jobe6792 Many cities and towns have ordinances limiting the number of dogs a resident can have. It is an effort to prevent hoarding situations and unlicensed wanton breeding of dogs. All dogs are required to have current vaccinations and an active license issued through our local county humane society.

This video really helped me realize going to a shelter should be first stop for a dog. I think because I have never been to my local animal shelter, that getting to see all the amazing dogs and your feedback on why they may manifest some issues in that difficult context, really helped me to see the light on this. I thnk more people would adopt if they saw what you show here. Thank you

It really depends where you live. In my county the shelter is usually pretty empty. Probably 80% of the runs are empty. Most of the dogs they do have are pit bulls/mixes. My county really probably should be bringing in out of county dogs because they have such a nice facility being underused.

Had to put our 11 yr old chocolate to sleep last year when he got cancer. Broke our hearts. He was the sweetest soul you'd ever meet. I still miss him all the time. Chocolates are the best dogs ever.

They really are. Ours had to be put down exactly 2 months ago. God I loved him. It was so tough to let him go. Rest in peace, my friend. Such sweet friends, and to see them this way really hurts too. Chocolate Labs are beautiful sweet dogs, so to see him in a shelter looking terrified something is terribly wrong.
It seems like he was abused, that slow cautious shake just made me feel so sad.

I lost my rescue chocolate lab 3 weeks ago, so seeing Charlie really affected me. Mine knew he was loved and experienced 2 years of total happiness. He returned that love 10x over.

When I was a little girl I went to the animal shelter with my dad to look for a kitten, then we walked through the dog's section and all these dogs were barking, I got so scared I began to cry. I really feel like that is how dogs feel inside of a shelter and I read about shelter syndrome .Rocky really shines the light on the effects of dogs in these shelters.

My sweet, beautiful chocolate lab is cuddled up with me as I watch this. She's the 4 one I've had over the last 50 years. I don't know how anyone could even harm one of these babies.
Please some kind heart adopt this beautiful sweet chocolate baby Charlie ❤ 🐶 🍫 Give him a nice warm bath, brush his fur gently, feed him nice healthy organic food, take him to the vet to treat any possible infections he might have (I noticed the scars on his ears possibly due to ear infections or allergies) and you’ll have yourself a beautiful and lovely furbaby, a new family member, your best friend for life 💖 Please

My husband n i rescued a chocolate lab. She was 8 n she was blind n diabetic n of course had never been to the vet. She only weighed 27lbs when we took her. Her coat was so dull n horrible. We started keeping check on her sugar, giving her shots n the right food for diabetics. She only lived about a year n a half but she finally got up to 58lbs n her coat was gorgeous! Better looking then our other dogs! She was such a sweetheart❤❤❤ I just dont understand how people can abuse n neglect any animal!

I’m all teary-eyed because of Charlie I hate seeing any dog shut down like that but I’m free that’s normally outgoing and super affectionate just breaks my heart. We rescued a black lab who had spent the first months of her life tied in a yard. She was punished for digging and was afraid of sticks. She turned into the most amazing stick retriever.

Interesting work with the Chocolate Labrador. Good observations, like he just wanted to escape the room...because you were in it. Also, that he had such abnormal behavior for a normally happy, kind dog type. How nice Charlie responded to peace, a bath, kindness, etc. Enjoyed the work for Wednesday and that the Golden Retriever got a home.
New to your channel, I did (and actually do) not dare to watch these video's as I am still trying to cope with the loss of my wife and my two dogs, of which one was a beautiful black Labrador.
When I see a dog in this condition I feel an instant sadness. What must this awesome creature have endured to become like this. Unimaginable.

Seeing such a wonderful dog like Charlie being so scared and shy, just breaks my heart, but seeing his real personality coming out, is just heart warming, and proofs that love and kindness have the biggest impact on dog's life, as they are ready to give all the love in the world to their family.
We are owned by a chocolate lab named Mandy. Seeing Charlie broke my heart. I can’t imagine our Mandy looking like that. Chocolates are puppies for life. Everyone lovingly refers to our Mandy as a chocolate mousse because she so sweet.

My Baba(Ukrainian for Grandma) had a Golden Retriever on her Farm 50+ yrs ago. It was the Nicest Dog I have seen. So gentle and tolerant of the Monsters(grandchildren) that came to visit her. When he went to the Kennel in the Sky, the replacement was a Border Collie, wasn't the same.

Its a great thing for people to understand what it means to be reactive. The dogs do not act out on purpose. There’s always an underlying reason.
The fact is that NO dog is born aggressive or depressed. Its the owner who mistreats the animals. It should be a law that to own a dog or any form of animal that you would need a 4 weeks course on how to treat and train the dog. Learn how to read the dogs signs. I would love to do the same as Rocky does but here in Denmark we dont have shelters like the US.

I absolutely love you and your wife for speaking for these dogs that can’t speak for themselves. It is really difficult to see a dog that has completely shut down. That may mean that abuse has happened and they just don’t know how to act. So they bury their face in the wall. I know how that feels and I would not wish that on anyone. I've just discovered your channel as a way to help me through the loss of my beloved Sophie who passed last wednesday 13th Sept. Watching this she has reappeared as Daisy in 4. She is an exact of my Sophie. Everything about her is my Sophie He colouring and mannerisms, the exact. What a shock but so good to see this "Daisy". Has made me smile again today. Adopting a dog that has been abandoned or mistreated is amazing. I adopted a dog that I was told they just "didn't love her". I love her to pieces which is why what you do is so amazing and warms my heart.

She was a stray that wandered up to my moms and I took her home with me❤and she’s my lil cuddle bug and she tries to tell me what to do and when to go to bed 🤣🤣🤣🤣 it’s funny. She misses me so much when I leave for work, that once I’m home she’s stuck to me like glue lol my fur baby and hip baby 🤣🤣🤣🤣🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🥰

I got so sad to see Charlie terrified, shut in his self...but i was amazed of the change in less than24 hours, thanks to Rocky. I do not own a dog and i live in Italy. I really hope that Charlie gets adopted by good people right away❤
I have always LOVE and had chocolate Lanbs. Seeing this Lab simply breaks my heart. My current rescue is part Lab part Staffordshire Terrier. She is the smartest dog I have ever taken care.

Hello Rocky. I am a cat person,I have a cat named Rocky, because when i finally caught him as a kitten, he had to be a Fighter(Rocky) or he wasnt going to live. He was that sick. He is now 11 and fathered 8 kittens when he was 2. I'm here to say that watching your channel and these dogs stories just stomps right on my heart. No animal should go unloved or abused in any way. We were blessed with a 6 week old chocolate Labrador due to an unexpected litter . A miss communication. I honestly was thinking I am too old for his energy. I have a yellow lab retriever and we adopted her from the humane society about almost 2yrs ago she was so sad but as soon as she was out she was so happy and til this day she is super hyper and happy plus a loveable 80lb baby 😂

I had a black lab and my lab was always happy and to see Charlie like this you’re right he must’ve been very severely neglected and I’m so happy to see him get his bath and break out of his shell. I’m so happy to see him happy and feeling good and I hope he gets a good home, and he never goes to anything bad ever again please my God protect him and all of the animals.

I am so impressed with what a great shelter this is! Everyone cares so much, and there are so many people who put in the work to help these dogs get adopted. All the staff is amazing, especially the groomers who go above and beyond to help these dogs look good and feel better. And if I still lived in California, I would be driving there now to adopt Charlie! He'd have a wonderful home with me and my two rescues, and gets lots of walks, good food and plenty of cuddles. ❤❤❤

Ahhh Charlie is so sweet!!!! I have a third home silver lab, the descendant of the chocolate... she is kind, gentle and loving.. Even nice to frogs, bunnies, and chickens. And she was partially abused, before I came. Best dog ever.

Yep, I'd be right there with you. They are magnificent loving bears with an unwavering loyalty, and this poor boy needs to be given that in return for all that he's been through. As someone else said, it would make his journey so much easier if the home he went to already had another dog to help him on his road to recovery as an extra guide to show him that he's now safe and secure and home for good.
My husband and I adopted a 2 year old silver lab from a local shelter a few months ago. This is so emotional seeing the chocolate lab shut down because our lab is just such a social happy energetic boy. Labs struggle in shelters with all the barking being in small spaces with less opportunity to run and socialize. I wish him so much love and attention to come❤️❤️❤️
