- Escape to a magical mountain getaway at the Cabin at Squirrel Creek in Western North Carolina. Cascades, waterfalls and 1200 feet of hatchery supported trout stream make this cozy cabin a unique experience. Unplug and recharge as you listen to the bold rushing creek from the two-level deck. Outdoor enthusiasts will love the proximity to hiking, skiing and waterfalls, including the Appalachian Trail and Elk River Falls. Grandfather Mountain, Linville Falls and Sugar Mountain are all around 20 minutes from the cabin.

Inside, the cabin boasts modern conveniences like a Smart Frame TV, Keurig coffee maker, and gas logs. WiFi is available via Starlink satellite, though cell service may be spotty in this remote location. Take this opportunity to unplug and relax, surrounded by the calming sounds of the creek. The cabin's kitchen is well-stocked, and there are plenty of games, playing cards, puzzles, and books for you to enjoy. The cabin has two queen bedrooms upstairs, one full bathroom upstairs (connected to the master bedroom), and one full bathroom downstairs. The downstairs living room also has a new pull-out couch with a queen mattress.
The Cabin at Squirrel Creek was lovingly constructed 30 years ago using 150+ year old reclaimed Virginia barn wood. The interior wood paneling was reclaimed from a South Carolina farm house and a nearby general store, giving the cabin a rustic and charming atmosphere. Whether you're seeking outdoor adventure or just want to escape from it all, the Cabin at Squirrel Creek is the perfect place to relax and recharge.

Hello , I'm back for a second visit . I absolutely love this cabin and where it's at . Iam 73 years young and I have loved cabins since the first time I walked in one when I was 5 years old and this one really rings my bell . Thank you , the video is great and I bet it's even better in person . Happy Trails 👣
Wow, just to be able to sit on that deck and listen to the creek. Heaven.
That’s a nice life. I wish I had known about it 50 years ago. I probably would’ve been living there by now but now what time is drawing to a close. Thanks for the view.

So nice
Beautiful!
Damn! My dream 😍 cabin!
Paradise
Nice. Real nice.
Damn! I wanna live here
Bahagia sekali melihat,sungguh indah
Awesome
The back porch area is not of much real use, not enough room for chairs. Adding even just three feet would turn itnfrkm a cosmetic feature I to something I can really use.
Same goes for the two narrow dormers...
Interior decorating is very well done.
Do you have a woodstove in there also? I can't imagine that fire place heating that whole place. ??
Ray, we tried to balance comfort with history. The home does have central heating and air for the primary heating and cooling. The gas logs/fireplace provide supplemental heat and add to the ambiance. We thought about using a wood stove, but unfortunately, most guests these days are not used to heating with wood. Thanks for the question!
Nice but needs some colors inside !
That's great, the wood is light inside. Was that a treatment?
We did not lighten the wood, it may just be the lighting in the video. Most of the wood in the cabin, including exterior logs and interior wood panels and flooring are reclaimed wood from other structures.
WOW
Does it have a septic tank & running water. Appears to be very close to a natural creek.
Yes, there is a septic system, and a well supplies running water to the cabin
It looks very nice; a perfect dream cabin for retirement! 👍

Ok, I'm the only one to ask, where is squirrel creek??
Squirrel Creek is located in in Newland, NC (Avery County, USA), about 45 minutes west of Boone and 1.25 hours northeast of Asheville.
Is this cabin for sale, and if sold how soon can a person move in?
MaryJo, unfortunately the cabin is not for sale. It is open to rent though if you are interested.
Sue here: just perfect !!! (But will a bear eat you?)
Hi Sue, the bears in our area are black bears, and we haven’t yet seen one at the cabin. Nearby Grandfather Mountain allows viewing of the six bears in their Wildlife Habitat. grandfather.com/black-bears-2/
কাঠ বাড়ি !!!
Is it for rent
Yes, the cabin is available as a short term rental. You can check out pricing and availability at www.squirrelcreekcabin.com
Only have 150k. Could I...?
Sorry Wang, the cabin is not for sale. It is available for rent if you are ever in the area!
Terrible build. Why build a deck you can't sit on???? And all the rooms are small. Why??? And with all those 50 foot plus trees around it, which falls on it first??? Terrible layout. Trees are nice we have a lot on our property as well. Hundreds of them. But not 10 feet from the house. No likey. Peace.
