  • We finally get the VW Polo R Line running but it's not plane sailing, The engine is still not running correctly and still has a misfire. Can we fix it? I also replaced the spark plugs and air filter, hoping that would help.

      I bought tickets for the last raffle. I don't trust these raffles now seem a bit of a swizz.

      I understand your frustration, I wanted nothing more than to give away the Audi but unfortunately it didn’t reach the ticket goal needed to give it away, but the winner still walked away with £2500 cash in their bank so all good 👍 This time the tickets are just £1.50, and the car has to go this time, but it can only go if you get involved, but I totally understand if you don’t want too, it’s all safe to use I have nothing to do with the money or tickets it’s all out of my control and handled by Raffall.com. All the best in whatever you decide to do!

    First of all, I highly suggest you to completely remove the throttle body from the intake manifold and clean it also from the other side, because it's where it gets more dirty.
    Second, remove both MAP sensors and clean them with proper spray cleaner.
    Third, those spark plug's cables look very bad. On this specific engine they use to easily get oxydated as well as the ignition coil. Replace all of them too with good-brand parts (ie. NGK first of all).
    Fourth, if all of the above don't fix the "high rev" problem, look for the clutch pedal position sensor. If the car has Start&Stop function, it is integrated in the clutch pedal master cylinder and you have to replace it and to properly bleed the clutch hydraulic system. Instead, if the car doesn't have the Start&stop function, the sensor is located behind the clutch pedal and it is independently replacable.
    BTW, you're really close to have this engine running perfectly. Don't give up. :)

    Instead of those crimping connectors, I'd advise you use the solder sleeves - Salvage Rebuilds UK have started using them with great results

    My transit does something similar in my case it’s an anti stall - and normal to hold the revs up when clutch is pressed

  • @jeremybevan5946
    @jeremybevan5946 Před měsícem +2

    Just a thought I have and Audi A3 and I noticed that when you put it into gear the tick over goes up to about 1100, take you foot off the clutch and it drops back to 900. I don't think that is your problem as yours fluctuates, I think that mine is so that you don't stall the car at low revs? Vacuum leak seems like the first place to start though!

    • @RevivingSalvage
      @RevivingSalvage  Před měsícem +1

      Yeah I think you’re right to an extent but this was excessive but I can’t replicate the fault, something is definitely wrong but I’m sure i can fix it, thanks for the advice though

    Well done, mate. I'm sure you will sort the gremlins out and change your petrol filter. Check the throtel cable also when you have used cleaner on throttle body. This can affect performance before throwing money at it. Check cable carb linkages and cable

    Rev bump when you release the clutch is normal on vw audi cars, throttle sticking is your best bet next.

  • @PCashie
    @PCashie Před měsícem +2

    Could be a worn thottle body, sticking slightly. good luck with it mate.

    • @RevivingSalvage
      @RevivingSalvage  Před měsícem

      Sounds like a plan it’s done over 100k so the chances of something being worn is highly likely, I think it’s wishful thinking is something easy lol 😂

  • @paulanderton9424
    @paulanderton9424 Před měsícem +1

    If I remember correctly you need to be really careful and gentle when cleaning the throttle body. Those butterfly wings are sensitive to being pushed back. Perhaps they are not correct now? Maybe a new throttle body and vcds relearn is needed?

    • @RevivingSalvage
      @RevivingSalvage  Před měsícem

      I did remove the throttle body completely afterwards but it never recorded, they are very sensitive and I’ve probably damaged something being so heavy handed, but a throttle relearn didn’t work, cheers for the advice

    I have this same engine in my seat ibiza just done spark plugs are a nightmare they was quite white on the tips unsure why, got a few oil leaks and a dodgy crankcase breather like yours seems common , and also had a boost and oil leak from the pressure pipe that goes from turbo to throttle body the seal was knackered on the pipe at throttle body end , still got a missfire / little jump at idle , not had the car long and starting to fall out with this engine dont seem very good !

    • @RevivingSalvage
      @RevivingSalvage  Před 24 dny

      Don’t let it get you down, you could buy any car and have issues, tackle one thing at a time, I think it’s common on these engines to have a little misfire as they seem very prone to vacuum leaks and oil leaks but nothing that can’t be sorted with time good luck sorting it out

  • @bradleymilton9372

    Engine startup doesn't sound good. There's a suspicious whistle and rought start. Also, the engine might have a slight misfire. These engines did have misfiring issues.
    Just plug in an OBD scanner. You'll get some good information and erase old codes that might be messing with the throttle. And NEVER do again what you did to the throttle body. These are not your oldschool analogue stuff. These electronic ones are sensitive. Remove it and handle it with outmost care and clean it. It's full of junk for sure.

    • @RevivingSalvage
      @RevivingSalvage  Před 28 dny

      Thank you for your detailed feedback! I'll definitely look into the OBD scanner to check for any misfire codes and clear any old ones. I'll also be more careful with the throttle body next time and make sure to handle and clean it properly. Thanks again for the advice 👍

    Whay is the engine code of thst engine butt ? I got same engine in my skoda I know they changed the engine as it had timing problems I have the new revised one that is much better and no issues I think u may have the older style thstbhad teh problems maybe

    • @RevivingSalvage
      @RevivingSalvage  Před měsícem

      I think it’s the newer 1.2 tsi engine, I think Vw changed it in the facelift 2015 models but they put them in the Skoda, and seat but modified them slightly, the older ones had a twin cam this old has just the one. But I’m not 100% 😂
