Fantastic tires. Would recommend to anyone who wants to drive year around (even in snow) and still have 95% the dry grip of a summer tire. I used mine in snow and they just chewed through snow all while having amazing summer grip. Great choice!
Would you also recommend them for a 2017 EcoBoost? Currently I have 42,000 miles on Firestone all season tires. I live in N VA and my car is my daily driver. I like the convenience of having a tire that works all year long.
Those are THE best all season tires for places that get snow. I've been running them year round in Wyoming for about 5 years on 3 different vehicles. Loved every set I've had.
Yeehaw! Nice to see you having fun and putting power down on those new tires. I'm usually a michelin man myself but it's always interesting seeing what manufacturers offer. Tire technology has really been progressing in the last 10 years, great to see, so many good options!
I’ve been running these tires on my 2018 Mustang GT since April 2021 it’s the third set of tires that I’ve had on the car since I bought it new in February 2018. These are the best set of tires that I’ve ever had lots of grip for all season. I could not be happier I’ve put 11,000 miles on in the last 2 1/2 years and I can’t complain.
I stand by the DWS06. I had these on my Charger 392 and they were fantastic year round, no matter the weather. They stuck like crazy in the rain, could pretty much drive through about 2 inches of snow before getting stuck(due to car height), they were also really really good in the warmer temps. Lasted me a pretty long time too.
I made the exact same switch on my modded 2015 WRX, PS4S to DWS06+. Grip improved after break-in. They don't quite have the same extreme precision and steering response when pushing them to the grip limits in the dry, as expected. They do feel a bit more vague in those situations. That being said, the dry grip is still exceptional. It is super hard to break them free into oversteer (which I could persuade the PS4S into on hairpin exits), the rubber compound is very sticky. Wet performance is amazing, better than the PS4S. They are very quiet and ride quality is very nice. Turn-in isn't as sharp as the PS4S but it is still satisfactory for an enthusiast in dry conditions. I have yet to try them in snow but I'll still be swapping to my X-Ice Snows as I live in the mountains. Overall it just made sense to go to a UHP all-season with these, despite my spirited driving habits and still having 2 sets of wheels. Now I don't need to stress about swapping early/late in the shoulder seasons and can leave my snow tires for actual winter conditions.
I bought the same tires last year so I could swap them over during the winter just in case I needed to use it. They are quiet and feel nice and drive through snow decent. They do spin when at full throttle a lot more easily than the summer tires would and they will drift easier on corners with a slight heavy foot. I just plan on driving conservative with them so they last and waiting on the summer tires to get on the gas. I’m happy with them for all season for sure.
Summer tires are becoming less and less needed. Now adays with the compound technology we have high performance A/S tires are really all you need. Plus you get the added benefit of running them year round. I havent run a dedicated summer tire on any of my cars for years. I went from pilot sport 4S to the AS4 and could not tell any difference other than some slight loss of initial turn in response. Grip is far superior IMO in the AS tire especially when the temps drop.
I swear i see so many run these tires I think they're more popular than the Michelin Pilot all season 4. I love how these tires and their standard touring Tire the true contact tour or has the DWS feature on them it's pretty cool
Thank you for helping with my tire decision! I have a 22 GT/CS and the stock Pirelli P Zeros are wearing out on me. I had been deciding between these and the PS4 All-Seasons.
Your points really hit home (pun intended) about the erratic Pittsburgh weather. I live here too and currently have winter tires on my other car. They're great on the 15 degree days, but awful when we get the random nice weather. Lesson learned! My DWS06s will be here next week! @@MattMaranMotoring
To give anyone insight as for the winter performance for me I have them on my AWD car and they've been through part of freezing ice/black ice, multiple snow storms and hilly roads and they've been no problem. It's certainly not on rails but they've been pretty damn good so far and predictable when one is slipping/sliding I think as long as you're driving carefully and understand how to drive in winter conditions these can be great!
This is what I have on my 2020 Mustang GT. I live in the Arkansas Ozarks and these allow me to enjoy sporty driving all year long...especially on cold wet curvy roads. They also have performed very well in ice/snow with actual traction at the rear wheels. They are a bit expensive, but worth the price. I only got 19k miles out of the front 4Ss, but again, I am driving aggressively on curvy roads.
@@MattMaranMotoring Matt, I have 24k miles on my current set. The inside of the fronts are finally worn down and soon need to be replaced, but that is only because of the staggered set-up and the negative camber of the PP1 package.
@carystraley I just got a new set. The weather in Northwest Arkansas is turning cold and rainy this weekend. That is the weather these tires really come into their own. I can still drive my Mustang sporty. This coming spring I'll switch them out for full summer tires.
Had the Continental DWS on my one Focus ST and did a couple winters with that and they did great for an all season tire. Good wet, dry and impressive snow traction for an all season. I would get another pair for sure. Only thing I noticed is the wear was a little more than I would have liked. You should like them, great choice for year round driving. The biggest thing for traction in the winter is going to be the sleds you have in there with those 275 or larger tires. I drove a Mustang GT(17 MY) and it had the stock size 255-40-19’s with Pirelli Snows and the width just killed traction. I never felt comfortable in deep heavy snow. Best winter option is a skinnier set of wheels with snows or some steelies with snows The 15-17 v6 mustang 17” aluminum wheel is a good choice with a snow tire imho Hope you like them
Thanks for sharing your experience! Yeah with the rears being so wide I can only expect so much in the snow haha. My old Mustangs with 235s were pretty good.
The steering feel difference is because of the construction of the sidewall, basically a summer perf tire vs. a high perf all-season. The quietness is due to the tread pattern, more air going through those wide tread blocks of the OEM Michelins 😉
Excellent choice! Thanks for presenting this tire review video! I enjoy watching tire review and comparison videos, and this one was top notch! 😎👍 Thanks again!
After my factory Goodyear F1 Asymmetric All Seasons, I would definitely look at these. They get reviewed so well no matter which website you visit. Great video Matt.
Good choice Matt! Best bang for the buck besides going to a drag radial on the rear. Still could do that on a separate set of rears to swap back and forth
I’m on my second set of these for my Mustang GT. Great all around tire, and surprisingly good in a few inches of snow. I live in the northwest, so you really need a good all season tire. Good choice for sure on your stang.
Matt, been using Continental DWS/06+ tires since 2010 and they truely DO IT ALL! I had them on my then new 2010 Honda Fit Sport when I moved to Chicago and they handled the snow great! I'm sure you'll enjoy them and in the rain the DWS06+ have world beating performance 👍👍
I put the DWS 06 plus on my ND2 Miata six months ago. Not sure if I prefer them to the old Michelin AS3+, but those were discontinued by then. They're fairly grippy, they could be grippier, but then they wouldn't be an all-season. Regardless, it's great how good tires have gotten. The fact I can get near-summer performance out of an A/S is convenient. Hell, Michelin makes a tire that is rated as both an all-season and a 3-peak mountain snowflake snow-rated tire now.
@@mistamaog in my case, my selection was very much limited by tire size, because I have a base Sport Miata on 16" wheels. No AS4s or PS4S offered in a reasonable 16" size. Other trim Miatas are on 17" wheels where pretty much any tire is offered in a suitable size. For me, 195/50R16, 195/55R16, and 205/50R16 just don't have all that much choice.
Kudos to you Matt, enjoy the DWS06s they are great and have better wear than the PS4S. I use the DWS06s as my winter tires on my BMW as NYC has similar weather to what you described. When I daily drove an S2000 I ended up having 3 sets of wheels because the winter tires are really only good for deep winter and are kinda so so in the wet.
I'll be getting rid of the runflat tires on my car here in about a month and a half or so. Can't wait to go back to normal tires, and have always liked the DWS tires. Any time I change tires I go with them and they've never let me down.
Good choice Matt, I had the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on my Kia Stinger. Four weeks ago changed to the Continental just like yours. Just came down to Florida from Toronto and bad bad not well balanced. Even though I insisted on the Hunter Road Force they are not balanced. Quite bad over 80. Will have to find a top notch tire balancer here in Orlando. I don't know why it is so hard to balance tires as the Stinger is a bitch, so was my Audi. Yet no one talks about the importance. I suspect I am a freak on well balanced tires. Anyways enjoy the new tires and hoping they are balanced for speed. Just too many lazy and incompetent tire shops.
Have purchased pilot sport 3s and the all season pilot sport 4(the all season though) and they both wore out really quickly. The pilot 3 was bald in 2 years, like bald I didn't realize despite having car inspected and regular check ups by two different places and the 4 lasted 27k miles when rated for 40 and 3 years, 8 months. I think i'm going to give the continentals a try since i'm due for new ones.
Mine is a Bullitt is a daily driver and even though we don’t get super cold weather we do get lots of hard rain. Changed the Michelins out at about 30,000. Feel a lot better with all weather tires on it.
Just ordered some new Micheline Pilot 4S today. This is not my first set. I love them even in the wet, but my car has less then 200hp. They are terrible below 32 degrees. So I considered getting all seasons. Also, they do not wear well. I probably average around 20k on them. I will probably regret this decision by December since it’s not even my fun car. But I have too many fun roads around me that I enjoy everyday… like last night. I just won’t tell my wife, when I also buy some all-weather tires for Xmas.
Excellent choice Matt. We just had our car (which happens to be a limited edition/production model) overhauled and tuned for ~$9k. Among the many services I requested was a new set of these exact same tires. Our previous set was the predecessor to the _Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus all-season tires._ My Service Advisor at the dealership had some difficulty acquiring these specific tires at first. He kept finding the standard DWS06 _without_ the Plus moniker. That "Plus" is what separates this _performance_ tire from just a standard set of rubber for your average sedan. We need the extra performance for our Sports Sedan. In fact, our entire service took an extra eight days of waiting just for a new set of these tires. However, I can vouch from experience that these new shoes are well worth the wait. Alas, great minds think alike! Stay classy my friend.
I just bought a set for my 86. I live in Seattle so I never thought Michelin PS3 A/S were very good in wet conditions, but I really liked them in dry summer months. I also go through tires on that car in 2 years. After much research I got the Extreme Contacts and I've driven them on wet and they seem to be a small gain from Pilot Sports. They will skid out even on that slow of a rear wheel drive car but so will any A/S tire. Since I go through tires so fast I figured I could save a couple hundred and just see what Continentals were like since they were rated better for rain. So far so good I really cant tell the difference. My prior set of tires were Pirelli P Zero A/S which was an instant regret and bad choice for that car. Best tire I've had are BF Goodrich G Force A/S and that tire is way better than any I've mentioned. However that tire looks terrible on a 86, it looks good on a mustang or a wrx though. I've never ran summer and winter tires honestly. So I don't know those worlds.
My tire of choice for my ATS and former CTS. Excellent tire. Have Michelin on my new XT6. Not sure what I’ll put on it after they have served their time. But I love Continental Extreme Contact DWS06’s.
Think I'm gonna grab a set of these for the AWD Challenger :) Gonna be an amazing winter of snowy driving up here in Minnesota. The car was a dream in the snow with the stock tires first couple of winters.
Did the same with my C7 from Michelin summer tires to all weather (SP4)....not quite the grip but no chattering on tight parking turns....new wheels as well.....
friend used to have Continentals on his old Ninja 750, and those suckers would grip! i almost got into a fix riding it out at Lk Murray OK once, took a curve a little too fast, but those babies held the rode. so whatever they use in their tires, that sh!t works! ☮
Interesting that Continental gave you free tires.I bought four 215/55/17 ZR rated DWS06 Plus tires in early 2022.Continental had a $100.00 rebate going on at the time of purchase. Despite completing and submitting all steps necessary for the rebate twice, Continental never sent us the rebate. Thanks Continental. Due to this and word of mouth, they have lost the sales of at least 120 of the same tires in the last 2 years.Sad as I am due for tires in a month. Not that they care.
I love that year of Bullitt especially in Highland Green like Matt’s. I test drove and almost bought the previous iteration. I wonder if Matt missed not having a moonroof/sunroof? I’m 6’2” and I know sometimes they can cut into headroom.
I've been contemplating this for my G70 3.3t I have been using Michelin Pilot sport 4s for years, but the continental's get GREAT reviews and are much cheaper. I've heard they're less stiff on turns, but more comfortable and quieter in straight line driving P.S. I live a couple miles away from you in Hampton. If you wanna review my 19 G70 with JB4 e30 tune (~475whp) let me know. 😂
@@poof3192 that's the only place I buy tires. They're generally the cheapest and they have a brick/mortar store near my house where I have them installed. They take walk-ins almost immediately
Nice tires for sure but if you ever need a snow tire definitely look at Nokian the inventors of snow tires. One or several models made in Russia or China so be sure to get the Finland one. I have Hapakeletta for my Land Cruiser. Read up on this brand you’ll be impressed. Some states allow limited use of studded tires and states like Colorado full on use. In Illinois where I read the actual statute I was amazed they have use exceptions ; you can use them for a certain period of time and other conditions. IMy grandma had steel studded tires on her car every month and I still feel guilty borrowing her car at 17 and creating showers of sparks! I like how quiet mine are. I’ll be putting them on soon. There is a new Nokian with heavy side walls that I might buy next. Police like tires. I first bought them when my brother was using my suburban with essentially bald tires and it went sideways coming out of the famous Eisenhower Tunnel in ski country. He immediately took my car in and got this highly recommended brand. Again having a spare and maybe a real snow tire on your main family vehicle would be a good insurance policy! All Seasons are great but they do have limitations. A great topic and great review. Jaguar used the continental as OEM tire. I just love the smell of a tire shop!
Hey Matt, It's been about 3 months since you made this video, how many miles do you have on them so far, and how do you like them overall? I just ordered a set (245/40-19)
It's not your car with that bad alignment causing the tires to wear on the inside, it's the Mustang alignment from Ford, same thing with my 14,17, and my 21, long story short the best tire for traction and hooking up in first gear is the Goodyear Eagle F1, they are even better than the summer Tires, it's the only Tire I can keep floored in first gear with 3:55 gears without spinning.
@MattMaranMotoring that will do it also, but that inside line of the tread is typical to wear out on front wheel Mustang alignment.... very annoying I had it show up at about 10,000 miles recently.
I have been awaiting for ERay tires for my corvette in the all season as live in Midwest and go to Colorado a lot. The AS became an option when ordering the stingray and while I’ve researched the AS ERay that is same size as Z06 not available yet. Wrote Michelin too. You would think these tires should be even available at local dealerships as an article or two said. I wish you’d look into this issue. You might want to get a cheap rim for a spare. They do make a spare for. The Bullitt that fits in trunk
Yeah I’d like to get the spare tire kit eventually. That’s weird about the E-Ray, I do know production has started so dealers must be able to order the tires soon, otherwise anyone that gets a flat is screwed.
I urge you to get the non donut spare tire that fits in the trunk. Who know, it could avoid a big delay, a tow etc. I gave my son mine and I purchased the heavier jack (I think it is). The tire is substantial but not as wide and not limited to 50 miles as I recall. You might save your bacon and you’ll no doubt recover if you sell. You did have apparently 2 flats or loss of air pressure on 2 tires. Above average I think Matt. I think they are 200 something.
American Muscle sells the tire on rim and kit that has that jack. 239.00 something. I was pleased with it and never wanted to be stranded with compressor and all that nonsense. Fits perfectly and you’ll feel secure having a non donut in the space meant for spare tire. Check them out! Maybe you should put down some rubber with the others? Lastly plugs etc going 60-85 legal speeds unsafe with a plug in my opinion.
May I suggest sometime get rid if those wheels and go with the real wheels McQueen had on his buillit. Torque thrust d wheels. I have them on two of my cars and they make the car absolutely stunning. Actually he may have had ET mags but torque thrust d are same wheel.
FYI: Using them on a 2016 Ford Mustang GT running square stance (285/35/R19) I bought the ExtremeContact DWS06 "Not Plus" when they were on sale during COVID and didn't get to use them until 2+ years later swapping them from my Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 tires. The problem with the DWS06's is that since it has a softer outer wall, it will create a bulge and poke out more than other performance tires which was so disappointing to me because my indy 500's was sitting flush under the fender well but the DWS06 was poking out 1/3 to almost 1/2"" of an inch outside the fender well! The other two problems with these tires is that it gives you a little bounce /wiggle on WOT or going around corners where the Indy 500's would just take the corner like you're on a roller coaster with zero flex on the outer sidewalls compared to the DWS06. I will most likely sell these tires at a loss and go back to the Indy 500's because having your car create a little bounce isn't a good thing for the S550 platform especially when you have the Steeda Stop The Hop kit installed, I can only imagine if someone went WOT without the mods I have? I'm pretty sure the DWS06 Plus has the harder outer wall but just giving people an insight on how the DWS06 (Not Plus) performs on an S550 Mustang so you're not making the same costly mistakes like I did!
I noticed started to slip in rainy conditions around 5,000 miles. Drove in only dry conditions after that. Traded the car in after about 7000 miles on those tires. I did multiple rotations. Good tires but thought they started to fade too quickly. Maybe you'll have better luck with them.
I have had both and the Sport all season tires break traction a little sooner than the Continentals.( edit - actual breaking fee vs feeling sketchy - they DO feel like they will sooner, but actually don't) It's very close, but the treadwear difference and lower price sold me. No, not a summer tire, but worlds better than the OEM Pirellis they put on mine.
Fantastic tires. Would recommend to anyone who wants to drive year around (even in snow) and still have 95% the dry grip of a summer tire. I used mine in snow and they just chewed through snow all while having amazing summer grip. Great choice!

Other trim Miatas are on 17" wheels where pretty much any tire is offered in a suitable size. For me, 195/50R16, 195/55R16, and 205/50R16 just don't have all that much choice.
@@thatoneotherotherguy ooooooooo didn't know the base Miata came with 16" wheels haha
Still ended up with top tier tires at the end of the day 👌
Extreme contacts are good, had them over a year on my mustang now
Kudos to you Matt, enjoy the DWS06s they are great and have better wear than the PS4S.
Ordered a set for my awd stinger gt. Will be back after a week to leave some feed back
Good choice Matt, I had the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on my Kia Stinger.
Classic body lines. One of the prettiest examples of American muscle we’ve ever seen.
I have got these installed at my house from tire rack too. I have these on my elantra N for winter setup and they have been great so far.
Glad you got Contis! They really do make a great all around tire.
Haha well best of luck with them! I know the struggle trying to dodge bad winter weather with the Michelins lol.
My 18' is350 ate 2 rear sets, but I'm still buying these tires. Great gripp. The continental summer tires aren't bad either.
Michelin Cross Climate2 are very good as well.
Great video! Always heard great things about these tires 🙏🏾
Good review Matt. For piece of mind, I'd get another alignment check done, too.
6:40 not bad dude that was a nice little send 🤙
Thinking about these for my WRX, thanks for the vid!
Damn that thing still sounds so good🔥
I just bought a set for my 86.
No way awd?? That sounds badass
@@mengx94 I mean, it’s a V6 so lol. So fun in snow tho!
Matt's always keeping it real 🔥
Did the same with my C7 from Michelin summer tires to all weather (SP4)....not quite the grip but no chattering on tight parking turns....new wheels as well.....
Love these on my FIst
friend used to have Continentals on his old Ninja 750, and those suckers would grip! i almost got into a fix riding it out at Lk Murray OK once, took a curve a little too fast, but those babies held the rode. so whatever they use in their tires, that sh!t works! ☮
I was debating between these and the pilot sport as4 last year for my Scat Pack. I went with the as4 but i think both are fantastic tires.
Yeah I've heard great things about the Michelins too.
I've had three sets of these and I absolutely love them. I'll never buy anything else lol
We all love a loose back end every once in a while, especially if it’s controllable
Next up.. a set long tube headers 😈
Haha maybe I’m getting old but it’s plenty loud enough for me already! Thanks for the comment Sarah!
Great video! New tread always a great feel!
Thanks Stephen!
Put the extreme contacts on my scatpack and what a difference over the stock Goodyears. Love them, hope you will too.
How is the ride quality from the oem Goodyear rsa2 to the Conti extemene dws o6 plus?
I've been contemplating this for my G70 3.3t I have been using Michelin Pilot sport 4s for years, but the continental's get GREAT reviews and are much cheaper. I've heard they're less stiff on turns, but more comfortable and quieter in straight line driving
P.S. I live a couple miles away from you in Hampton. If you wanna review my 19 G70 with JB4 e30 tune (~475whp) let me know. 😂
Check Discount Tire. They're constantly running $110 off Michelin. That's why I chose the as4 over the DWS06 plus.
Thanks for the offer! Send me an email if you can, could be a fun video to film! mattmaranmotoring@gmail.com
@@poof3192 that's the only place I buy tires. They're generally the cheapest and they have a brick/mortar store near my house where I have them installed. They take walk-ins almost immediately
@@MattMaranMotoringsent
Good choice had these on my Evo and Golf R. Also used the A/S 3+ and while also great prefer the DWS06
The A/S 4 compare better to the DWS06 plus. On paper the as4 are a tad better overall but both great tires. I have the as4 and love them.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, yeah it seems like the Conti seems to be a little better in most ways.
@@poof3192 oh I looked back and you are right it's A/S 4 now. Checked my receipt and did have those haha.
Ugh I want a V8 😭 awesome video!
Just got these for my Mazda
thanks
I'm thinking about getting them for my wrx. Hope that have good grip.
Hi Matt! I am about to pull the trigger to get a set of DSW06+ for my 2019 Mustang GT. How do you feel about them after 5 months? Thanks!
Great video. What do you think about the NITTO NT555 G2 Summer Ultra High Performance Tire?
How have these faired for you in the snow this winter in the midwest Matt? Thinking of getting these for my ecoboost to replace my old tigerpaws
What was the dry grip difference between the two in normal temperatures?
Hey Matt, It's been about 3 months since you made this video, how many miles do you have on them so far, and how do you like them overall? I just ordered a set (245/40-19)
i went Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus too lol
From the pictures, the original Michelin's have better rim protection against curbs vs those Continentals?
It's not your car with that bad alignment causing the tires to wear on the inside, it's the Mustang alignment from Ford, same thing with my 14,17, and my 21, long story short the best tire for traction and hooking up in first gear is the Goodyear Eagle F1, they are even better than the summer Tires, it's the only Tire I can keep floored in first gear with 3:55 gears without spinning.
I had mine on an alignment rack and the drivers side front wheel on mine was definitely off from a pothole or something.
@MattMaranMotoring that will do it also, but that inside line of the tread is typical to wear out on front wheel Mustang alignment.... very annoying I had it show up at about 10,000 miles recently.
you are the only person on the planet to recommend trashy goodyears
@domgiordano18 oh don't be such a drama queen, Goodyear tires are one of the best on the planet, what do you recommend?
Yes, adding, you have new rubber but bolts, nails whatever can turn a good day into a bad one for sure.
I did the same earlier this year with my Bullitt
Nice! Hope they’ve worked well for you!
They have, great performance, now I drive under the weather feeling safe
Give her the power she deserves and r888 tires
Nine months later what is your opinion?
I can tell your struts or shocks caused the cupped problem.
Who was the mobile tire company? I might use them for my Acura TLX
Hey Matt - where did you get the fantastic tee you're wearing in this video? Thx!
This was a limited run shirt on BlipShift, I don’t know if it’s still available anywhere else. Sorry!
My dream car with my dream tires. I still spaz whenever I see a Bullitt 😭
Thanks, I'm glad you like it!
Dont like the way DWS06+ handle.. they're a bit too squishy. But, the noise and ride benefits are very good.
Would this be a good tire for a challenger scatpack.
May I suggest sometime get rid if those wheels and go with the real wheels McQueen had on his buillit. Torque thrust d wheels. I have them on two of my cars and they make the car absolutely stunning. Actually he may have had ET mags but torque thrust d are same wheel.
Love my current C8 but this make me miss my Bullitt….
When 4K matt?
Hmm, did someone like the Mach 1 a little too much? It's ok, Matt. 😂
Just got them and the shop put 36psi in them. Read the tire and saw 51 psi max...any tips?
Yeah read your drivers side door placard and use that psi.
@@rossjensen6230 Thanks. Did look earlier Couldn't find it there but then again my wife is right. I do miss some shit lookin right at it. Lol
Could have smoked the old tires for the video 😢
I have nowhere to do a burnout without risking a ticket unfortunately. Lots of cops around here.
garbage tires wear out to fast
Why
Had those on 2017 Charger RT but they did wear out quickly in my opinion
Thanks for sharing, how many miles did you get out of yours?
