    From my experience with Sep Studio, it takes some adjusting in the base, colors and especially the highlight white. If you right click and select film, you some times can see colors, like white in lets say what should be a bright red font, that you have to pull like 5% white out of. Using your mouse you can scroll over those areas and see what shouldn't be there, or what needs to be bumped up... hard to explain with a comment... I think this require a vid...

    I bought a cheap $30 dehumidifier from amazon for my dark room and it stopped my sticky screen issues. Helps the screens dry a lil quicker too. I should add my dark room is small (5x10) so make sure you get the appropriate size unit.

    Like the commentary.. I use sepstudio but have really liked the results and control I have pulling colors and separating manually - takes me a little more time as I create actions and so forth (which I'm working on as I go) but the results are worth it and I have more control - That said depending on the job I may still resort to the program. • @20vK
    @20vK Před 5 lety +3

    Don't be afraid to change colour shades instead of the standard separation studio inks. I never saw that in the tutorials and it made a huge difference to colour accuracy and vibrancy when I did it.
    Pretty sure your screens are too damp. They will take the ink off the positive, which then forms a thin barrier and makes washout much harder. Especially for halftones. Also ruins your positive. Sometimes you'll even separate the film out into its two layers with plastic literally stuck to your screen. Pretty stressful on a rush job.
    You can rub the screen on the positive side immediately after wetting to rub off the ink before the emulsion wets out too much for washout, but it's better to throw a dehumidifier into your drying cabinet and store your printed positive films in there too. Aim for 35 to 40% humidity in your cabinet before exposing to avoid sticky screens.
    Added benefit is super quick screen drying after coating and washout. I was down to 5 min drying times after coating.
    If you don't put the dehumidifier in the cabinet, you're paying and waiting for the whole printshop to dry.
    Hope this helps buddy.

    • @ThePrintLife
      @ThePrintLife  Před 5 lety +2

      Agreed a dehumidifier is gonna be a necessity now.

    • @20vK
      @20vK Před 5 lety +2

      @@ThePrintLife I bought a 12 litre model - the rating is how much water per hour it sucks out the air. I also went for refrigerant model, so it has some horsepower. Last thing I looked for was a setting at 35%, as most go to 40%, (although all will drop humidity below 40% on constant mode), and a model without loads of lights so I don't expose my emulsion whilst it's drying!
      You'll find with the fan, heat generated and dehumidification that your screens in a cabinet will dry SO BLOODY FAST! I only run mine just before I need to expose, so hardly run it each day. I'd never go back to air dry - so fast and convenient.

    My printer is an Epson Shurecolor P800 loaded with Marrut-ink, an ink contaning UV-blocker.

    • @TylerCary
      @TylerCary Před 5 lety

      @@ThePrintLife Yeah the spot process and simulated process are both super easy with it, as long as your art is correct, you can add an under base trap and mix spot color with halftone on same screen. Its nice to be able to print a true spot color and halftone on the same screen with out extra art time. I also don't like the registration marks/ centerline it offers so i turn that off and in illustrator just make my own using the registration spot color so it shows up on my films.
