Toy Soldiers was a product of its time: In 1991, a premise like "Die Hard at a boarding school for teen delinquents" was very much a "shut up and take my money" situation. I can vividly remember being like 11 and trying desperately to describe the plot to my older cousin so he could tell me the title so I could get my mom to rent it from Blockbuster: "It's Goonies and Stand By Me fighting terrorists at their school!"*
_*In the 90s, nobody knew actors' names._
I love the “Goonies/SBM” way of explaining it!
I am embarrassed by how much I love this movie. In fact I watched it again, not 3 months ago.
Nothing to be embarrassed about! It’s a classic!
Just got into laserdiscs (collection is over 100 now) over the last year or so. So loving that you have the laserdisc in hand!
That’s awesome! We should probably feature some of my other laserdiscs in a future stream or video now that we know someone out there loves them too! :)
Holy shit, I haven't even thought about this movie since my dad showed it to me like 10 years ago. Good flick
Happy to remind you about this one! You should revisit when you get a chance.
Sean Astin proves that he has the coolest friends; Goonies and Rejects, you always wanted to be both.
Definitely! 🤘
And Hobbits...lol
Definitely my favorite of the "Die Hard in a ..." movies. Not better than Die Hard of course, but the only one that got close.
Agreed! :)
Great movie! My brother was actually an extra in this movie
That’s awesome!
Ah man i remember this one
When I was a kid I remember there were 2 movies called Toy Soldiers. It was this one and the other one where the toys come to life. Apparently I am wrong?
Yeah, I’ve seen the poster for the other TOY SOLDIERS. I think it was an action movie from 1984. There was also SMALL SOLDIERS which came out in 1998.
And a song by Martika.
I have to watch this again! Classic I forgot about until now!! Man, I'm feeling old...
Nah, you’re just vintage, my friend! :)
A great movie that made me want to go to boarding school. Side note, your comedy edits to very relevant clips is next level...LOVE IT!
Thank you! And glad you like this movie. It’s still one of my favorites!
Love this movie!
It’s so great! :)
I'm kinda impressed y'all managed to have the laser disc sleeve in front of you and still managed to get the year wrong and pronounce Sean Astin's name wrong multiple times. This format seems fun but you might need to do a few more takes
🙃
1991. Not 1990
Yep
