    once i did it i realized
    ,,dude,all my fantasies and ideas are gonna come true now''

    This programm is amazing and i don't get how it's not that popular
    A built in drawing tool would be very apppreciated tho since most 2D animation programms have it

    How do you change the characters, like adding new clothes and such from photoshop without crapping up the arms and leg? I made changes to a toon to give her a uniform from school and the arms and legs are all out of place and I can't make it match. This sucks for making your own toons. How are people even doing this for real?

      This one might help, but it's long. czcams.com/video/04zWYeWtXxg/video.html Basically whatever figure you have, you need to cut it up into component parts in photoshop. Hands, upper/lower arms, torso, head, upper/lower legs, feet. Also all the head pieces. Eyes, Eyebrows, Ears, etc. If you want lip sync on a custom character you need mouth shapes for all the sounds. With photoshop you can link these images into a CTA "skeleton" by putting them in their proper folders. If you do this right, when you import the character, drag a group of animations from the content manager animation tab options onto your character. Bam! Right click on the character, open the action menu, and it's all animated for you based on the action packs you've bought from the store. Or you can use the motion key editor (also right click on the character) and animate the skeleton using keyframes the old fashioned way like this: czcams.com/video/0B5Cs21ijPk/video.html

      There are the stock characters that come with it, and you can get more with other packs they sell. Also there are a couple of artists who make characters and prep them ready to animate for sale on the Reallusion Store. Garry Pye is the man, his stuff is awesome. I had to tweak the eye names to get it working nicely with Photoshop, but it was only ten bucks!

    Why is everyone putting up with this level of customer service? It's almost as if their tutorials were made in order, then half the videos randomly got lost, and we're stuck with this. I have half a mind to learn the ins and outs and make my own tutorials. I'm having problems with these supposedly switchable sprites, and all my searching lead me back here, by a Reallusion staff member. As if the answer to my question is in this tutorial; it isn't. When switching sprites from a custom Garry Pye character from the Reallusion store in composer mode, I can change my head/face sprites from clean shaven to stubble, etc..., and even set a default, but upon performing any animation in stage mode, the sprite switches immediately (one frame) back to the "original" one in the top left corner of the sprite selection box. Not a documented fix anywhere, others have this problem dating back to before 3.1. This is pretty damn important to the idea of exporting and making custom characters in photoshop. Why allow sprite switching in composer but not keep it locked in during stage mode. Makes no sense.

    • @reallusion
      @reallusion  Před 5 lety

      You can find all the tutorials well categorized here >> www.reallusion.com/crazytalk-animator/tutorial.html

    • @guitardizzle1
      @guitardizzle1 Před 5 lety +2

      At least they're "well" categorized instead of scattered all over CZcams...now I have a single link I can share instead of seven or eight. Strange that so many people sat here for over a year with no reply, and finally I come along with a bit of common sense mixed with utter frustration and bam, here you are. With nothing new, may I add. The videos you linked me to are woefully inadequate to understand the product even at a basic level outside of the "my first movie" demo. We have all seen them. If you were to take the time to look through the comments on the very videos you linked, you would find a lot of bewildered people that really want to love your software, but can't seem to get it to do what it's supposed to as advertised. I know it's possible; I've seen it, but the process it pretty arduous, and simple things like renaming sprite folders to "Jimmy's Left Eye" instead of "EyeLeft" can utterly derail projects from paying customers who may not be savvy enough to dig through forums and find out that that's even an issue (if you're having a similar problem here's a link that MIGHT help, but if you've renamed all the folders you'll have to either move all the original art into a new template with the right labels, or load a new template and rename the sprites back to the original folder names: goo.gl/GxLuiD.
      I don't know if "you" are a team of people, or one person who is too overwhelmed with some other project to adequately address these problems, or maybe management just doesn't care. All I know is there are a lot of paying customers like Max Devreaux from the comment below- a year ago- who was answered by another paying customer -5 months later- or below that, robocat2001! Just look at that thread and ask yourself what anyone who owns a nice iPhone, with updates, support, etc... would think of buying CTA3? You'd really need that exact sort of thing I sure hope CTA 3.4 or 4 or whatever is actually treated like a serious part of Reallusion's product line.

It says in the edition information that Standard comes also with the G3 Character Template but it says the Pro version only has bone manipulations so can you move your characters body parts around to still make custom animations? I mean with the Standard are you stuck with the built in character animations? I don't need anything fancy just I'm on a limited budget and I was wondering if I purchased the Standard edition can I do what is shown here in this tutorial and also can I animate my own animation cycles manually if I'd like to?

    • @guitardizzle1
      @guitardizzle1 Před 5 lety

      Wow Dale, "in advance" indeed! No, I don't work for Reallusion. No, the standard edition is essentially useful for toying around with at home for fun with kids and family; you can't do much with it, but it is inexpensive. Standard is click and drag. Pro is click, drag, and make some animations. Pipeline is what you want if you're trying to make any cartoon at all that looks other than the CTA characters. Also, for the "pipeline" part to work, you need at least Photoshop ($12/mo) or iClone (hundreds). It all works, its just arduous because the tutorial support seems like it skips entire subjects (it does).

    This video does not show how to mask out the individual parts of the drawing to make the various body sprites. This is shown in another video; but not with the dummy character. czcams.com/video/ZdfU6BVUfiw/video.html What would be most helpful, is a video showing the entire process from start to finish. This would be a good marketing strategy to attract newcomers to the software.

    The "keep parent transform" does not work. I get giant, fuzzy parts far away from the character. If I toggle that off, it imports as the correct size in the general vicinity, but nowhere near the right place, and it doesn't allow me to change it.
    Also, SHIFT has no effect. The children move regardless.

      I did learn that on PCs, holding the "e" key does what shift was supposed to. They changed it and didn't bother updating the manuals.
      The only way I got it to stop importing as gigantic pieces was to save the entire body as one and then save each piece by itself without cropping the empty space. Importing it directly from Photoshop makes a huge difference, if you have pipeline. I actually upgraded to pipeline just so I could get that functionality. Even though I have an ancient version of Photoshop, it does work, and was worth it.

    I've been trying to follow this tutorial so that I can complete a project I've been working on, but for some reason whenever I use sprite editor and select to "keep parent transform", the incoming image is way out of whack size wise, and also arms and hands don't act anything like the smoother motions and bends in the preview you do in the tutorial. So my questions are,
    1) Is there a certain picture format I should be in? I've been using png files.
    2) Why would the sizing be so off? I have used the exact png file that I imported to CT3 for my character and each body section is from the same file that I imported into CT3...Not a novice in this, but also not a pro yet either, but very good at learning quickly. Please...someone....help...

    • @reallusion
      @reallusion  Před 7 lety

      The sizing may be off due to the size of your original character layer sizes in Photoshop (or whatever photo-editing software you're using). If you don't have the Pipeline version of CTA3, you may not have our PSD template with original sizing to compare to, however you can find it here: reallusion.com/crazytalk-animator/PSD-character-animation.html

      Did you buy a Garry Pye caharacter, or a custom character? If you name the "Files" in the layers area incorrectly, it wont import. If it'd one of Garry's, just change the name of each "main" eye (L/R) from "to camera" back to "Normal" and you're good. But yeah, changing too much in the template screws it up. Nobody seems to know why, or cares to figure it out. This program is so close to being amazing, it's almost like they dont want to be the only show in town for this kinda thing!
