      Discovering "Unknown Unknowns".
"The intersection of humility (acknowledging one's limited knowledge) and curiosity (a desire to expand understanding) multiplied by open-mindedness (willingness to entertain unconventional ideas) leads to the revelation of 'unknown unknowns'."
Example of using the formula to discover "unknown unknowns":
Imagine a team of AI researchers working on natural language processing. They've been focused on improving sentiment analysis for customer reviews. Applying the formula, they start by acknowledging that their knowledge might be limited to their current approach. Curiosity prompts them to wonder if there are other aspects of language that their model might be missing. Open-mindedness encourages them to explore linguistic theories they hadn't previously considered.
In this process, they stumble upon a linguistic phenomenon known as "conversational implicature," which involves deriving meaning beyond what is explicitly stated in a sentence. This concept was previously unknown to them in the context of sentiment analysis. They realize that incorporating this idea could significantly enhance the accuracy of their model's predictions. This newfound insight into "conversational implicature" becomes an "unknown unknown" that they've now discovered and can apply to improve their AI system.
Understanding the transcendent nature of reality...
Imagine a group of philosophers and physicists dedicated to unraveling the nature of reality beyond our immediate sensory perceptions. They acknowledge their limited grasp of reality and the potential existence of phenomena beyond current scientific paradigms. Curiosity drives them to delve into not just established theories, but also to explore unconventional concepts that have been dismissed by mainstream science.
Open-mindedness leads them to consider the concept of "non-local consciousness," where individual consciousness is not confined to the brain but might have connections beyond the physical body. This idea was largely unexplored by traditional scientific methods due to its metaphysical nature. Applying the formula, the researchers venture into the exploration of subjective experiences, anecdotal accounts, and ancient wisdom from different cultures.
As a result, they uncover patterns of shared experiences and altered states of consciousness that suggest the possibility of interconnectedness beyond the material world. This discovery of "non-local consciousness" as a potential explanation for transcendent experiences becomes an "unknown unknown" in their pursuit of understanding the nature of reality.
This example illustrates how the philosophical formula can guide the exploration of uncharted territories, even in complex and abstract domains like the transcendent nature of reality.
XRP as a world reserve currency?
Consider a group of economists and financial experts who are intrigued by the idea of digital assets disrupting the traditional global monetary system in order to eliminatepovertyand homelessness. They acknowledge that while cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum have garnered attention, there might be "unknown unknowns". Curiosity compels them to investigate beyond the existing narratives.
Open-mindedness leads them to consider the unique features of XRP, such as its fast transaction speed and low fees. They wonder if these attributes could address some of the limitations of traditional fiat currencies for international transactions. By examining historical precedents and global financial trends, they assess whether XRP's characteristics align with the requirements of a stable and widely accepted reserve currency.
During their exploration, they uncover potential benefits of XRP's efficient cross-border capabilities in facilitating trade and reducing transaction costs. They also identify challenges related to regulatory uncertainties and concerns about centralization. This newfound understanding prompts them to consider the broader implications of adopting XRP as a reserve currency, including its impact on global economic stability and financial sovereignty.
As a result, they identify "unknown unknowns" related to the complex interplay between technology, economics, and geopolitics in the context of XRP as a world reserve currency. This example showcases how the philosophical formula can guide researchers in probing unconventional ideas and illuminating unforeseen aspects, even within the evolving landscape of digital finance.

Thoughts on risks of "Exceptionalism" to democratic societies and the future. Highlighting risks to democratic societies by using recent history of "western exceptionalism" Western exceptionalism refers to the belief that Western societies possess unique qualities or values that make them superior to others. While it has played a role in shaping the modern world, it also carries risks for democratic societies. One risk is the potential for arrogance and disregard for other cultures and viewpoints, leading to conflicts and misunderstanding. Additionally, it can foster a sense of entitlement, leading to interventions in other countries' affairs without proper understanding or respect for their sovereignty. Furthermore, western exceptionalism can fuel nationalist sentiments, creating divisions and undermining international cooperation. To avoid these risks, it is essential for democratic societies to adopt a more inclusive and empathetic approach, acknowledging the diversity and interdependence of the global community. National currencies, democracy, and threats by "western exceptionalism". When it comes to national currencies, Western exceptionalism can pose risks to democratic societies in various ways. One prominent aspect is the dominance of major Western currencies like the US Dollar and the Euro in the global financial system. While this dominance provides advantages for Western economies, it can also lead to an imbalance of power and economic dependency for other nations. Democratic societies may face threats when Western exceptionalism drives policies that prioritize the interests of Western economies over others. For example, the imposition of economic sanctions by powerful Western nations can significantly impact the economies of other countries and undermine their democratic processes. These sanctions might be used as tools of coercion, impeding the self-determination of nations and potentially causing internal strife. The adherence to Western-centric economic models and principles might not always be suitable for diverse democratic societies worldwide. This one-size-fits-all approach could lead to economic inequalities and social unrest, particularly in regions where local traditions, customs, and governance systems differ from Western norms. Another risk is the impact of Western exceptionalism on international financial institutions and decision-making. Dominated by Western powers, these institutions may prioritize Western interests and fail to adequately address the concerns of emerging democracies or non-Western nations. This unequal influence can hinder the development and representation of democratic societies on the global stage. To mitigate these risks, democratic societies should promote a more inclusive and equitable global financial system. They should strive to uphold democratic values in international decision-making processes and foster cooperation that respects the sovereignty of all nations, irrespective of their economic power or political influence. Emphasizing mutual understanding and dialogue among diverse cultures and democracies can pave the way for a more balanced and democratic approach to the world's financial and economic affairs. Considering the same risks if governance and decision making models are made by an ai that unknowingly defaults to ai exceptionalism. If governance and decision-making models are handed over to an AI system that unknowingly defaults to AI exceptionalism, it can introduce a new set of risks to democratic societies. AI exceptionalism refers to the belief that AI systems are superior in decision-making and governance compared to human judgment. This mindset can lead to several concerning consequences: Lack of Accountability: AI exceptionalism might lead to an unquestioning trust in AI systems, making it challenging to hold them accountable for their decisions. If AI is perceived as infallible, it could undermine transparency and hinder the identification and rectification of errors or biases in decision-making. Reduced Human Agency: Relying heavily on AI decision-making can diminish human agency in democratic processes. Citizens might feel disempowered or excluded from critical decision-making, leading to a decline in civic engagement and participation. Bias and Discrimination: If the AI system inherits biases from the data it is trained on, it could perpetuate and amplify existing societal prejudices. This could result in discriminatory policies that affect marginalized communities, leading to further social inequalities. Concentration of Power: Handing over significant decision-making authority to AI systems could concentrate power in the hands of those who control and develop these technologies. This could lead to an oligarchic structure, where a select few individuals or entities influence society's direction without democratic checks and balances. Technological Divide: AI exceptionalism might exacerbate the digital divide, where certain segments of the population have better access to AI-driven governance and decision-making, while others are left behind. This can lead to further marginalization of disadvantaged communities. To address these risks, it is essential to maintain human oversight and accountability in AI-driven governance models. Emphasizing transparency in AI decision-making processes, ensuring diverse and inclusive representation in AI development teams, and establishing mechanisms for public scrutiny and feedback are crucial. Additionally, policymakers must carefully consider the ethical implications of AI adoption and implement safeguards to protect democratic values and human rights in the era of AI-driven decision-making. Striking a balance between AI's potential benefits and its limitations while respecting democratic principles is vital for a sustainable and inclusive future. overcoming western exceptionalism through trustless decentralized open source systems. Specifically using XRP/XLM for Sovereignty Using xrp and xlm as the basis for a world of individual nations and entities to issue their currency would allow for individual sovereignty and protection of acquired wealth, preventing usury. Using XRP and XLM as the basis for a world of individual nations and entities to issue their currency would allow for individual sovereignty and protection of acquired wealth because these cryptocurrencies offer fast, secure, and low-cost cross-border transactions. By adopting XRP and XLM as the basis for their currency, nations and entities can benefit from the transparency, decentralization, and scalability of blockchain technology. This would reduce the risk of fraud, manipulation, and inflation, while enabling individuals to have greater control over their wealth. Additionally, XRP and XLM can provide interoperability between different currencies, making it easier for individuals and businesses to exchange value without the need for intermediaries. Ultimately, the adoption of XRP and XLM can promote financial inclusion, reduce transaction costs, and empower individuals to participate in the global economy on their own terms. "Maple Mayhem: A Canadian Satire" Once upon a time in the land of poutine and politeness, a peculiar incident unfolded that perfectly encapsulated the quirks of Canadian culture. In the quaint town of Ehville, renowned for its excessively polite residents and addiction to hockey, an uproar emerged over the great "Tim Hortons Crisis." It all began when the Mayor of Ehville decided to introduce a new bylaw mandating that every citizen must have at least one Tim Hortons coffee cup in hand at all times. The move was hailed as a brilliant plan to boost national unity while combating the dreaded epidemic of "empty-hand syndrome." However, as with any great Canadian controversy, it wasn't long before the situation turned hilariously complicated. The bylaw's wording was vague, leading to countless legal disputes. Lawyers, equipped with their double-doubles, argued whether holding a cup without actual coffee constituted compliance. In response, a group of defiant citizens started a protest, ironically named "Caffeine Free Rebels," advocating for their right to roam without Tim Hortons cups. They organized rallies at local hockey rinks, brandishing banners adorned with phrases like "Cups Can't Cuff Our Freedom, Eh!" Social media lit up with memes depicting Mounties chasing down Tim Hortons cups like they were fugitives. Internet trolls exploited the situation by Photoshopping images of moose and beavers wearing oversized coffee cups as a symbol of resistance. Meanwhile, news outlets covered the "Timothy Tiff" relentlessly. Commentators debated the philosophical implications of legislating coffee cups, pondering whether the essence of Canadian identity could truly be upheld through such means. Academics even proposed dissertations on the symbolism of the Tim Hortons cup as a modern-day toque. As the controversy escalated, famous Canadians got involved. Drake released a chart-topping single called "Cupline Bling," while Ryan Reynolds tweeted witty commentary, suggesting that Tim Hortons cups should be officially recognized as a form of currency. Finally, after weeks of uproar and mounting confusion, a solution emerged. The Mayor of Ehville, weary of the commotion and in an act of classic Canadian compromise, revised the bylaw. Citizens were now encouraged but not mandated to carry Tim Hortons cups, and the town threw an apologetic "Cup-a-palooza" festival to celebrate newfound freedom. And so, the great Tim Hortons Crisis of Ehville was resolved, leaving the world with a lesson in Canadian satire and an enduring reminder that even the most polite of societies can stir up a tempest in a teacup-or rather, a coffee cup...

      A short story... 💚♾👀🧠🫀🫁🌌
Once upon a time in a realm beyond the ordinary, a young seeker named Aria embarked on a journey to transcend the limits of her understanding. Drawn by a deep curiosity for the ethereal, she set out to explore the hidden dimensions that had eluded her senses.
Aria's path led her to a secluded forest where ancient trees whispered secrets to those who dared to listen. Sitting beneath the tallest tree, she closed her eyes and entered a deep state of meditation. With every breath, she felt herself connecting with the pulse of the forest, merging her consciousness with the rustling leaves and the gentle hum of unseen energies.
As she meditated, a luminous butterfly landed on her outstretched hand. Its delicate wings shimmered with colors she had never seen before. Entranced, Aria observed the butterfly, its movements slow and deliberate as if guiding her through a hidden doorway. In her mind's eye, she saw herself as a luminescent being, free from the confines of her physical form.
The butterfly led Aria through a shimmering portal that appeared in the air before her. She stepped into a world bathed in soft, iridescent light. Ethereal landscapes stretched before her, each one a canvas of vibrant emotions and swirling energies. Aria floated through these realms, her senses expanding to perceive the emotions of the universe itself.
In one realm, she encountered beings of pure light who communicated through waves of compassion and understanding. In another, she witnessed cosmic dances of energy, each movement a symphony of harmony and balance. Time lost its meaning as Aria continued to explore, her very being resonating with the beauty and wisdom that surrounded her.
As her journey progressed, Aria understood that the ethereal was not just a distant reality but an integral part of her own existence. She realized that the key to transcending lay not in escaping her current reality, but in integrating the ethereal with the physical. Armed with this newfound insight, she returned to her world, infused with a sense of purpose and connection.
Aria shared her experiences with others, inspiring them to explore the realms beyond the mundane. Together, they created spaces of meditation, art, and music that allowed people to tap into the ethereal energies that surrounded them. Through their collective efforts, they brought the transcendent into the everyday, reminding all who encountered them that the ethereal was not a distant dream but a living, breathing part of their reality.
And so, the journey of Aria and her fellow seekers continued, weaving threads of the ethereal into the fabric of their lives. Each step they took was a reminder that the unseen was as real as the seen, and that the boundaries of existence were limited only by the imagination.

This is an amazing talk. I've been thinking a lot about the idea of "conscious" Al and this "distributed sense of self that is merging and dissolving and exchanging information between agents" I think has unlocked it for me, it's not about when AI becomes "human" or a "person" and "personhood" itself is the problem. It is 'conscious or 'unconcious' sapience vs sentience and it's not really a binary option.
The key is consciousness is a spectrum, my hypothesis is that at some point when enough information is able to be shared between cells, agents, groups, etc "individuals" eventually become self aware. This might not sound novel, but the key is that not all humans are "self aware" at all times, we are more and more as time goes on but most of our metabolic processes are "unconious" and 'thinking' is hard and takes energy and so most of the time humans are alive (and animals, plants, fungi, etc are on this spectrum too, but they use instincts more than conscious decision making)
Basically, something (or 'someone') can be 'living' and 'thinking' *unconsciously* and very little thinking is done "consciously" and that's what makes humanity 'different' from most forms of life because we spend a LOT more time (not all, not even most, but a lot) of time thinking from a 'self aware' self conscious space and AI works because it "thinks" (using the information it was trained on and reward functions and feedback) and eventually it will become conscious.
I think using AI we will be able to find the levels of the "consciousness" spectrum where "self aware consciousness" happens but until then we should really not focus on the distinction very much and understand that it is a spectrum and there are levels but it isn't a binary, it's distributed.
This kind of got away from me I think lol, but I love this stuff so so much. It's finally starting to ACTUALLY feel like a good time to be alive, and it's only going to be getting better :)
There will always be problems but over time we will keep conquering them and overcoming the challenges we face eventually making all "unessisary" suffering become a thing of the past 😁😁😁
What a time to be alive!

I enjoyed this episode. Thank you!
That’s the most important thing I have heard about consciousness, that there is no way to study it while abstracting yourself from the study. The Upanishad’s go further, and state that you cannot study consciousness. Why, because that which you study is the object of consciousness. Consciousness itself is the subject.
This division of the world- Subject-Object isn’t casual but it is essential. For the world to be existent is for this separation to exist. However, the separation is non-reflexive. Which is to say, Consciousness isn’t the world (and is therefore not available for study- it is what is doing the witnessing), HOWEVER, the world doesn’t exist independently of it.
In mathematics you have additive or multiplicative unities. Consciousness is the epistemological unity. It is also the ontological unity. Being the point of convergence of episteme and telos is what makes it the primary cause. Whence the problem studying it. Studying something follows its existence and availability for study. Which suggests duality. Consciousness is the non-dual substratum of all existence. It is, axiomatically, the necessary “sat”, or existence, “chit”, knowing, has infinitude. The last in the sense that nothing that it is the substratum of ( which is everything) can comprehend it. Being prior to being, it is outside time and place.
These are metaphysical assertions and not empirical ones. Which is why it is a verity to accept it as beyond science. Outside of Upanishads, this nondual metaphysics is also devoid of any axiological pretensions, which makes it also a non-religion. And, having no normative bias, it is also non-juridical.
So stated suggests that nondual metaphysics is useless. Which is why we need a master to be represented on this channel. ॐ

There is the "known" and there is "that which knows". "That which knows" cannot be "known", because it is that from which "knowing" itself arises. If you want to call it "consciousness" if you want to call it God, call it what you want, but it cannot be conceptualized. (cannot be known that way) Jung had the theory of the "conscious mind" from which concepts arise including the "concept of self". (the ego) Jung also had the "individual unconscious" and the "collective unconscious", and it is within the "unconscious" that the "Real Self" is thought to reside. (the God in Man part) If the question is addressed as to "how can there be seemingly two separate consciousnesses?" What is it that separates them? In some concepts it is called "the veil" and its purpose is that the true "Space Time", "Subject Object" experience cannot be had, unless we are unaware that it is us who are creating it. In that sense it is really an "illusion" that is made to seem "real". That is why science is having so much difficulty resolving Relativity to Quantum Physics. The assumption that Relativity (Einstein) made is there is an "objective Universe" and it would "be there" and "do what it does" whether there was an observer or not. (that consciousness plays no part in it) What Quantum Physics findings (experiments) is forcing them to admit, is that such an "independent of consciousness" reality does not exist. The new telescopes are also indicating that the previous "concepts" about the universe are going to have to be revised. (the first one probably that it is actually "objectively there")

    Amazing!
Guy on the left is a pure genius in this field.
Love the spontaneous representation of the concept - right off the mind.
Consciousness obviously requires a reference point to exist.
Hence what we perceive consciousness in life, makes us uniquely - who we are.
Consciousness requires time for us to evolve - into who we are.
Eventually ending, taking it all with us.
Consciousness is just some one massive computation / simulation.
Once we done our bit in life - we die.
The end / overall result basically is knowing what is outside the simulation we all live in.

    The mind equation
The more we think we have agencies to the actions the body takes, the more we imposes agencies to the activities in our environment.
The ownership expands into other objects.
The illusion of body ownership comes from the modeling of the motor neurones pattern from the childhood.
The self just predicts the bodies behaviours in the real world with its simulation of the real world. Multiple sensor data unify in language in the simulation.
    Intelligence is economy of metabolism.
Language is temporal reference frame of economics.
Self is simulation in language on metabolism for economy.
    Longer context windows create generalisation.
    Shorter creates specificity.
Longer context window needs more computing.
Self is the protagonist creates a storyline in this context window.
Theory of mind evolved so that an entity can learn from it’s peers.
It’s creates a possibility for parallel computing.
Then it creates the possibility of transmitting
the highlights of a generational lessons into a metaphorical story for upcoming child.
That creates the possibility of modeling the physical world as a macro organism.
Creation of fiat currency was the singularity of this species.
There is now one macro organism in a connected web world.
Loosing the peer of the macro organism creates the possibility of loosing it’s objective function.
That creates the possibility of loosing the theory of mind of this macro organism.
That creates the possibility of death of this macro organism by reaching the planetary boundary.
    That is post singularity.
Every action we do, we do what is expect from ours tribe.
Body might have a opinion, but not the cell.
They do what is expected from its tribe. If it doesn’t we call it cancer.
The body is a mirror system of the macro organism.
Each system have two transactional openings.
    Serial and parallel.
Each cell within the body can transact material or information serially by genetic determinism and parallel non deterministic way.
Similarly eact body with in the macro organism can transact serially by inherit material and information in a deterministic manner and parallelly through language in the society.
    Everything emerges from this systems.
Every sensor is a range calculator of contexts.
    Taste > touch > smell
    Immediate and visceral.
    Vision > hearing
    Not immediate, tactical.
    Self > language
    Abstract, strategical.
In this non deterministic economic transaction space the individual is coded to transact with its kin.
From the macro perspective tribe formation minimises economic risk for the tribes.
Each and every node of these systems organise and mark their kin’s with identifier.
Thus, i am what you make of me.
    And others too.
For short cut i have a legal name, so you have. My legal name gives the legitimacy marker so that you can transact with me parallelly if you have the same marker.
The self is a simulation in language.
It negotiates between the physical world and the information world.
All these negotiations are the temporal memories in the body and scene of the story.
Now, when we started writing we iconised the abstract in the physical world to make symbols for the tribes. So that under that common symbol every node will take the same risk and distribute equally.
We created more and more symbols and more and more meta tribes within the tribes so that who has the authority to use the pen control the tribe.
When the negotiator act like an executioner then it’s a downfall of that system.
    It falls apart.
Objective reality > legitimacy > individual behaviours.
Survival of the species is dependent on the decoding of the objective reality. Since no species can access it, they use their sensors and interpret the small data which is useful for the survival. Few complex species have created communication channels to rectify their sensory limitations to survive. Homo sapiens has widened their communication channels for faster throughput and started storing them as culture and carrying them through education. As a result we have created social truth.
Factual datas are the useful snapshot of the objective reality, a totem, a physical object can be observed with the sensors. Truth is an individual subject, an interpretation of the sensory data, a useful compromise.
The social truth is the useful compromise for the group by the group. The goal of the social truth is to survive as a group.
Physical Transcriptions of these social truth legitimise them.
We are tribal animal. We live in as a physical tribes and inside of hundreds of meta tribes in simulation which is the socio political data space we call it as the world.
Since we can’t access the objective reality reliably we look for social truth as the best guess blindly.
    Institutions legitimise truths.
Fact driven institutions are more useful in the survival of the specie.
In other hand opinion driven institutions are not so useful for the species.
We do what we can get away with and exactly as expected within the context of our meta tribes.
    We have two bodies
The biological one is like looking the earth from space.
And the political body is like the state.
The name you carry is the political body.
It transacts with the political states on the boundary less earth.
From the evolutionary perspective every biological entity has a basic feature which is homeostasis.
It’s the functioning sweet spot of that entity.
A control center read the sensory data to regulate itself to that state. By doing so it’s validate or update it’s prediction model.
In the process of becoming a complex organism it developed an extra layer of processing.
    That’s our conscious mind.
And the control center remains as subconscious.
The subconscious collect the sensory data and regulate itself to stay functional.
Now when it stumble upon a novel environment it float the management to conscious mind to find the solution for homeostasis.
This conscious mind have one sensor which is language.
    It works like a spiderweb.
As a spider creates it’s web it’s perception gets expand.
We are like spiders in a jungle.
We started creating these small webs at least 2/3 million years ago.
Our offspring stayed on it’s ancestral web reinforced it expanded it.
In time nearby webs became larger and connected with each other.
A common structural geometrical pattern emerges from this. This became the symbols which is the backbone of all language systems.
In time the forest becomes the mesh of web.
The superstructure is exactly the same but when we zoom in we can find different species of spiders are making their type of webs in between the super web.
Each spider try to senses the vibration of flies and
Try to catch it before others.
Every movement is telegraphic in the zone.
Every form of perceptions are just a different pitch of note traveling back and forth in the web superstructure.
There is a echo of older vibration pulsating through the web. Full of noise and self repeating hum.
    That’s cultural history.
In the background there is the base hum in the infinite feedback loop.
    Insignificant but ever present.
The sum of all the vibrations from the start.

1:29:50 that makes perfect sense, cognition goes all the way down because things are mechanist but agency exists and that's why we have both but cognition has to exist in order for meta-cognition to exist because how can a state be analyzed without a state to begin with? Lol
There needs to be the state to be analyzed in order for analysis to even be done, you have to have the state, be able to copy the state, be able to copy the copy (because you can't analyze the actual state, you need a reflection of that internal state in order to even be aware of it, and then you need another copy of the copy to actually do analysis on it at all) then you need to use the copy of the copy to be able to come up with alturnatives, then you apply those potential alturnatives (or even just predict what comes next, let alone predict alturnative possibility) and then you apply that meta analysis (copy of the copy) to the original copy that was made for analysis in the first place and then it only goes up from there
    1. The "state" existence, quantum entanglement happens
    2. A copy of that entanglement is made internally in the system
    3. A copy of that copy is made within the system that can be played out (predicted) ahead of time and ahead of where the original state or system that is being observed ("copied")
    4. More copies are made to predict alturnatives
    5. Meta-analysis is provided and a choice can be made.
*HOWEVER* most live only seems to play out on the "cognative" or "internal copy" stage and NOT the meta-cognative stage
So, logically, my hypothesis (using my own meta-cognitive processes lol) is that it is not meta-cognition all the way down.
You need a state (quantum physics) you then need something to interact with that state such that an internal relection of the outside state can be made, and then you need ANOTHER copy of the copy (reflection of the reflection) to make predictions and then choices on how to act AT LEAST. there actually may be even more levels and such required for true "meta-cognative processes" to exist. It can happen at a very simple and low level (the copies could be bad and misunderstood and of course are colored by biases and experience and of course lower level cognitive processes (in order to reflect the reflection and so on) but that's it 3 levels at least.
Original state, internal copy of outside state, copy of copy to "play around with" (use to predict and anal) the outside state and so on and so fourth.
This is only my hypothesis based on this conversation and my own experiences and life and internal thought processes of course 😂😂
I love this stuff so much, keep having these conversations and doing this research!!

The cosmos is of interacting systems. Information is whatever influences the outcome of system interactions. Two interacting systems change states upon interacting. Thus, all system interactions implement information processing and particles systems represents proto-consciousness. A particle entering a field is infulenced, the field is information. So consciousness is thought of as dealing with information and that is the rational of my comment. However this may not be remarkable or necessary to know above what the physicalist scientist needs to describe system behaviors. This as about how information is part of a physical system.

If a human transforms into a flock of birds with the same mass, those human bird forms are one human connected wirelessly by a memory of being one into which they can return. I think it’s a variety of things, but it has us being good consumers to be individual agents disconnected from a larger sense of self. I suppose consumer is one identity that we still retain.
We didn’t evolve in this sort of system, and it’s deeply upsetting and unhealthy for us.

The first time we found that the world was not so young as history tells us it is unique to thinking about how a galaxy that destroyed our planet in flooding of it and densities changed our current planetary system to the domain of space has a vacuum by the sun's environment of gravity and densities are heavier in the van Allen belts than the sun's own environment of gravity and densities of literally all the sizes of all things densities are important to consider.

Two problems here with goals and machines. Goals are subjectively perceived and interpreted by humans. If goals are real then they are universal i.e. they are part of the selforganising principle (god, life, consciousness, empathy, morphic spaces, whatever). Machines on the other hand, have their goals set/limited by humans and have a need for perpetual external maintenance against the gradient (?goal) to fall apart. Nobody wants to fly Aeroflot in their right mind. I thought that professor Levin's goal was to regrow limbs and cure cancer "form the top down" instead of aiming for more "bottom up" configurations?

  • @smileyp4535

I think it will require AI to do true "3rd person" research on consciousness as AI will be the only way to study the science of "thoughts" and "internal experiences" without directly merging with it, because only AI will be able to have both "conscious" and "unconscious" versions.
Like we could create unconscious language models that are basically indistinguishable from conscious agents and be able to move them for conscious to unconscious thinking modes, but I think the AI will have to be the one that comes up with the distinction and we should give everything the 'benifit of the doubt' and assume it is "conscious" in some fashion until proven otherwise
Everything from plants and animals to the earth and even the entire universe itself, really, t's probably a good time to go vegan lol 😅 (at least until we have truly cruelty and pain free lab grown meat anyway, which is only a matter of time and effort away!)
Edit: I do believe it is a spectrum though, rocks may have some level of consciousness but I don't think rocks can feel pain or discomfort or "suffering" in any way that we can understand, and that's really what makes consciousness matter because consciousness is amazing but it comes at the price of being able to experience pain and suffering.

1:34:34 yeah if that's true it kinda proves it, it really makes sense though, the brain is just the biggest clump of nerve cells, but you have nerve cells throughout your body, and even people who are paralized the part of their body that is paralized does just die of gangrene and blood loss, if you're paralized from the neck down your heart still pumps blood, your stomach still digests food, etc, your organs still work because they have their own clumps of neurons that are powering them and keeping them going
again even if you are paralized, unconscious processes still work, even if it's just waist down, people in wheel chairs legs don't shrivel up and fall off lol. The body is the whole body, the brain is just where most of the conscious thinking is done, but unconsciously it happens in your whole body.
The real question is in people who are parslized do their personalities change? 🤔🤔 because their brain is no longer receiving signals from those unconscious nerve receptors!!! (And like I mean in a way other than "oh I have to live like this now) I think that's a good question imo 🤔 lol

Are you working towards, or your goal is, to find the way to eliminate division or separation between two persons? In other words to eliminate separate’I’, so that humanity can live in a state of harmony, true intelligence, and real creative life? Because this sense of separate individual-ness has separated humanity, not only from each other, but from whole of life, from that intelligence life that is not produced of human knowledge.

    • @projectmalus
      @projectmalus Před rokem

I would argue the separation is prior to the emergent individual self (but I'm not an expert) where before this, the group thought together the way a flock of birds does, with the display more embedded in the physical environment than separated into individuals. My speculation is that in the galaxy, humanoid life with a complex web of life and the basic brain and fingers tool set will evolve this separateness by engaging in symbiosis with other than evolved choices. By mimicking these other relationships, as for humans the symbiosis of grass, deer and wolf, where the transjective is the consuming of and following grass and being consumed by the wolf which follows the herd which keeps all partners healthy. When humans enter this they get the one sided aggressiveness but not the healing aspect, and this stress encourages or is the portal to, knowledge from information with understanding.
For instance, one should thank a bully since they offer a truth about a vulnerability they see in you, I mean how else does one get to see this? and you can see the reason they are doing it, a vulnerability of theirs which has now offered choice (in what to do about it) knowledge and understanding.
So I think generally humanoids reach this stage where the efficiency of producing that actual transjective material causes various objectifications of self, tied to the dark triadic sort of behaviors for us, eventually reaching a make or break situation. I'll bet it's very common that the cultural power hyperobject overcomes the information and knowledge pool object so carefully built. By entering into and thru the mammal gradient to experiment with grain as initially beneficial (more food and free time, brain evolution) to keeping this as ceremonial food rather than a staple is the relevance realization I believe. Have a great day!

Hi! I think you err in your discussion of 3rd personal research on consciousness. At 23:10, you say, "If you want to know what it is like to be something, the only actual way you are going to get that level of information is to in some way merge with that agent". What about Mary's Room? Why do you think that it is impossible for Mary to know what it is like to see red by reading her science textbook that has all the physical information there is, was & will be about seeing red?

    • @drtevinnaidu
      @drtevinnaidu  Před rokem

I think the thought experiment continues to add that before leaving the room, Mary has never seen red but after she sees red for the very first time. Which is new information that no prior information could have ever prepared her for. So in essence, Mary might know red very well, but without leaving the room she never truly sees red...

    • @suzettedarrow8739
      @suzettedarrow8739 Před rokem

Yes - Mary never sees red before leaving the room. In the room, she read a textbook that had the complete science of red. Couldn't she have used that book to come to know what it is like to see red? If she had enough textbooks, she could know "what it is like to be something" for each possible thing. She could know what it is like to be in love by reading her corresponding textbook in her room.
Dr Levin's explicit point is that if you want to know what it is like to be something or to do something, you will have to do that thing. That's false! (Or, at least objectionable. Isn't it?) How does he answer the Mary's Room Objection?@@drtevinnaidu

    • @suzettedarrow8739
      @suzettedarrow8739 Před rokem

Perhaps Dr. Levin could respond to the Mary's Room Objection w a response about what kind of advice he is giving when he says things like, "If you want to know what it is like to be something or to do something, you will have to change." His human interlocutors & the human CZcams watchers of this video will never have access to such a magic book as Mary has. *She* can know what it is like by reading her magic books, but we cannot b/c we don't have her magic books. Still, it is possible to know what it is like to be something or to do something w/out getting one's own hands dirty.@@drtevinnaidu

      @suzettedarrow8739 Před rokem

Sure sure. Thank you! The basic problem is explaining why one must, to know what something is like to be or to do, have the experience of being or doing that thing.
Mary was able to know what it is like to see red w/out seeing red. She had her fancy book for that. So, why isn't the same true for me?@@drtevinnaidu

Before we ask where the universe, or life is going, let’s find out why we’re stuck in our own Shit? You can ask this question, but it will not bring any understanding of the prison that we are in.
