Oooooohhh damn!!!! 1yr later but thanks for that
I WAS JUST THINKING THAT
@@larryhernandez1657technically yeah. He’s one of the only ricks who chose his family. He just wanted to stay with his wife and raise Beth, and Rick prime took that from him. He never would have been the murderous rampaging alcoholic if his family wasn’t brutally murdered right in front of him
So Rick essentially in that episode became Rick prime for a bit having no emotional attachment to anything.
Been thinking like that since ep. 1 S6 glad I'm not alone.
No not really. Not every Rick who doesn't have any emotional attachment is Rick prime. "Too healthy to lie" isn't a Rick prime trait
Means that his love to Morty is toxic too
@@Noyaaaaaa In his opinion
If he was rick prime then he wouldn't have needed to merge back, im pretty sure he is better with his lesser half ironically

Well it is his toxic side, so even if he does care about Morty he's gonna fight between actually comforting and insulting, which u can see as he says right after "your gonna be fine"

Toxic rick is literally everything rick considers toxic about himself. So, by toxic rick's personality we can see that not only his "irrational attachments" got removed, but also the necessity of denying this attachments AND the capacity of demonstrating them. This episode is full of details, i love it.
It wasn't his own definition of himself per se I think.
I was under the impression it might have been the alien's definition of toxic traits. The alien who designed the therapy I mean.
@@Zinodin nope, it is by the individuals own definition of toxicity, thats why toxic morty is so different from toxic rick, because they consider different aspects of themselves as toxic, thats very clear on the episode..
@@leonardoferri9826 Actually, Morty was equally indifferent to "Toxic Morty's pain". Morty also later realized the same as Rick that his "toxic" side was necessary.
Rick is more intelligent and arrived at the conclusion faster.
The episode doesn't actually specifically say what you said either that it's their own interpretation. But hey, if you wanna interpret it that way, then that's alright. It's an interesting theory if nothing else.
@@Zinodin i mean, even tho it is in fact their interpretation, there is a lot of other moments in the series when both morty and rick suffer because of the same aspects of personality that their toxic personas show, that reinforces rick's interpretation... Besides that, the episode doesnt give other alternative of how the machine works... but youre right, its always possible that everything was a coincidence
@@leonardoferri9826 Yeah. Could be a coincidence..
However, the more I think about it, there is one line in the episode.. When Rick realizes he is seperated from his "toxic self", he does say he feels a responsibility to re-absorb it. "Toxic Rick" is a living being that's a part of him.
Meanwhile, Morty seems to eventually realize he is hollow without his "toxic" traits.
So they both arrive at the same conclusion, but for different reasons. So I suppose your point is the stronger one after all. Like you said: There are lots of details in this episode.
Welp, I'm big enough to admit when I'm wrong lol Good stuff, man. :) Hope you have a good weekend.
One of the only times we have proof that Rick does really care about his Morty but yet he sees that as a toxic trait
Well, as we find out, that's because it's not his Morty, he originally was only using him as bait for Prime Rick, but because Prime DGAF, it didn't work. So he would see it as a weakness because it keeps him from pursuing his main goal of avenging his family.
@MandoWookie i know this is super late, but it's not even NOT Rick's Morty! Our Rick never had a Morty, his Beth was murdered as a child by Rick Prime. Our Rick never had a grandson.
@@SIRslipperyasp91damn I stopped after season 4 but there’s no reason for me not to watch it I love this show
Because morty isnt his grandson
The moral of the story is that not everything you think is wrong with you is actually wrong with you.
True that.

@@levicarpenter5509Aside from being too healthy to lie stuff i would say that theu are pretty close
I love the detail that Rick closes an eye to aim
It's a good detail, but I dunno why people who don't often use firearms think it's a good idea
Toxic Rick had Rick’s short-sightedness, he couldn’t see the bigger picture. That’s why regular Rick could slap Morty earlier in this episode, because hurting Morty slightly or temporarily was okay considering the bigger picture.
You missed the whole message of the episode, congratulations
The Irrational Attachments line makes SO much more sense now after knowing about Rick Prime. He shouldn’t care about Prime Morty, but he does b/c he’s the only Rick to never have gotten a Morty. Devastating.

Little detail that I liked about this is that is drooling was gone after the detox and returned back after he merged. Probably a obvious detail, but I like it.
Now I want to see a battle between Healthy Rick vs Prime Rick
Rick Sanchez, the king of tsundere. 🤣
I just realized that this healthy Rick is basically Rick Prime
No he isn't
This is a glimpse of Rick prime and Evil Morty as a team
When the Self become cruel against the Ego...
the part of rick that relentlessly insults morty is also the part that cares for him :)
The meaning of Tsundere ; Tsundere Rick
And his "irrational attachment"
Baka
"I hate having you in me" Out of context that's pretty funny. 🤣
It's weird how the emotionally sensitive parts of them are part of the toxicity.
This hits different now vs when it came out
What's fun to me is that I thought it was weird that Rick saw Tox!Morty dying and said he didn't care. He called it a irrational attachment. "Why would Rick call the love for his grandson a toxic obsession?"
Cause that's not really his grandson, as we've come to learn...
The most surprising part to me is that Rick is 70
“Its ok, grandpa’s here” as so tender
In my headcannon, Rick's love for Morty is only toxic in the earlier seasons. He currently genuinely cares about him, it's just that it's still difficult for him to show that. Remember the Roy episode when Rick saved the fragmented Morty?
Because he's evolving with time, is been only a year since they met (which is crazy) and rick has decades of fucked up trauma and shit.
It shows us Rick is evolving from a close-minded man to one who is open.
I wonder if this was how Rick Prime was created.
It wasn't
i love how "loving his grandson" is considered a toxic trait
YOU CUT THE "GRANDPA'S HERE" BIT
With us now knowing Morty is Rick Prime's Grandson, untoxic rick's not caring attitude makes sense now!!!
I just realized that “healthy” rick thinks his attatchment are irrational because it’s not his morty or family, hense why he thinks it’s toxic to care for a morty even though he could just go get a new one from literally anywhere
You cut out the best part: Toxic Rick saying “Grandpa’s here..” to Toxic Morty.
"Morty not that I give a shit, but are you okay?"
Wild to think that one simple scene like this can turn a normally black and white plot into something way grayer.
I love how caring to Morty is a toxic thing💀
It's because it's rick primes grandson and he intended to use him as bait but he got attached
The fact the toxic part of rick is the caring side is wild to me.
Did you even watch the episode?
The machine removed all the traits that the person who's getting treated sees as toxic/negative.
Meaning Rick thinks caring for Morty is a negative trait for him.
So ironical, that the only Rick, who doesn't care about his Morty is a good-Rick
"Irrational attachments" hits different now
Grandpa’s here 🥹🥲
"I hate having you in me." 😂
I love how this episode shows that rick does care about morty, even if it's the side of him he comsiders "toxic."
This for some reason reminded me of Paimon for Hellaza boss. Where he says "sees this bitch crying"
Ah yes *Hellaza Boss*
“Grandpa is here” hit me different
Unlike a simple hostage situation, Healthy Rick hinted the emotions that were currently a part of Toxic Rick would be what compelled him to save Toxic Morty. Truly a bold and underhanded move, but one that worked in a battle which he couldn't win directly.
Toxic Rick is just regular Rick covered in Nickelodeon slime
The guy next to me sure was the first to comment

@@idiotgaming6376Oooohhh

I think prime rick might had ejected his toxic self and destroyed it.
Wrong, rick prime has a attachment to himself, his ego, he wouldn't have that if he was healthy
bro he made the same noise each time he was shot lmao
When you take in account that he cares for Morty because he never had a Morty of his own when you consider his back story

Aye bro you can have my sister if u want bro, appreciate it gang
YOUR MY SAVIOUR
morty's voice actor is so fucking good. doesnt get mentioned enough
This has to be a joke lol.
Rick and Morty were both voiced by Justin Roiland, who is also the co-creator of the show.
So one of Rick's toxic features is that he cares about Morty?
The episode made it clear that it's not toxic features, they're features the characters themselves think are bad and toxic.
The funniest part is we know Rick is bluffing. Both Ricks care for Morty.
If rick stayed severed he would've been the most dangerous rick in the multiverse
Some one remind me, why did they wanna merge back together again?
Clean rick wanted them back because he didn't realize the machine would seperate him like that. Morty didn't for a long time.
Plus I know I wouldn't want an irrational version of myself wandering around if I was that smart.

“Irrational attachments”
Toxic Rick:* instantly looks at Toxic Morty*
Looking back at this now makes so much more sense
It is pretty sad that Rick views his love for his grandson as "irrational attachment" and a negative trait.
One detail about this scene is when Toxic Rick merges back with Rick, his skin color is just slightly more pale and desaturated
Nothing is as scary as the thought of healthy Rick being let loose on the world.
The way Morty giving side eye to Rick though 😂
"Your a better man then me rick."
I like that even the worst version of Rick still ends up caring about Morty
"Irrational attachments" hits differently when you know the whole prime stuff
And after that morty says 'peace out' and runs
They ain't over here bro i like that line
"Relax and quit your bitching, you're gonna be fine."😂😂😂
He still liked Morty in both toxic and nontoxic forms because it was irrational and rational. He just took oit the irrational attachment, but still loved him as a grandfather which is rational
Crazy how this connects to the reveal that Rick was using Morty as bait this whole time and it being an "irrational attachment" makes more sense, because he shouldn't care for his bait
When you think about it Rick thinks caring for Morty is a toxic trait because he never actually had his own Morty.
C137 wife was killed before Beth came into the picture. I feel like in the earlier seasons, Rick definitely saw Morty as a burden/a way to get to Rick Prime. But he realizes later on that RP doesn’t care about his Morty. That’s when we start seeing Rick sober up more and actually treating Morty with respect sometimes.
Our flaws are sometimes our greatness strenghts.
You know morty is serious when he isn't stuttering
Lol he calls loving his own grandson an irrational attachment…..
i just saw someone asking for an uncensored version 💀
lmfao
you know the version of Rick and Morty without the toxins, probably could have caught Rick prime faster.
I LOVE this episode . Every time i watch it it gets better
Ian Cardoni talking to Justin Roiland.
What's actually sad about this is that 'negative' Rick and Morty were created when the originals had all their flaws purged. Which means Rick considers caring about Morty to be a flaw.
Your valuable and appreciated good work is trully top shelf.
Thank you
Morty looked at him like Rick you ain't sh!×
