Premium German Destroyer "Karl von Schönberg" Review - World of Warships Blitz

- Some of you might remember the days when the German destroyer mainline had 150mm guns, which were historically accurate. Then along came the scout cruisers (Elbing branch), which didn't exist, so they quickly took over the 150s, which then led to the destroyers to suddenly rock ahistoric 128mm mains. Which were very good, mind you. But still...
Well, if you feel nostalgic about the good, old times when ships were still bearing a resemblance of their actual counterparts, look no further, because here's the retro Ernst Gaede (ok, ok, that ship didn't actually exist, but you get my point), ready with 150mm main guns.

I remember Ernst Gaede when it still has the 150mm guns. At mid-range, it's highly effective against enemy DDs, even against CLs. Now it has smaller guns, but still, it's German, so it's still pretty decent. Also, being a smaller gun means that you can have a gunfight with enemy destroyers at closer range, where the 150s would overpen
I don't think I remember Gaede having overpen issues with the old 150s, but I may be wrong, wasn't a ship I played a lot. The 128s are definitely better in the end, even though not historically accurate.
I got it though the latest personal challenges with the iron cross camo, and it’s a punchy little boat - those 150mm guns give you some nice citadels on cruises and even some BBs, but sometimes you have to swap to HE to avoid overpens on other DDs. Overall it’s definitely an enjoyable dd to play.
I haven't seen overpens, but haven't also tested enough with APCS+ against DDs. Used not to be an issue with the old line, but the Elbing one definitely has that, to the point that the higher tiers are more useful against CLs than DDs
I got this ship during the personal challenges this year, and I am sooo glad I got through the entire challenge, because this along with the Camo is amazing (and usually I don’t like most special camos)
Got the ship that way as well. It was the last PC (may)
Alas there was to much going on in RL here to get the camo (ran out of time), but at least the ship is in port.

Same with cruisers. "HE Nürnberg" is kinda a meme for me by now, as in, it's a surefire indicator that the player doesn't pose a threat.
I won this sometime last year, and i love this little ship. Just fun to play
9:32 So I am not the only one who noticed that. Recently I began noticing that I never shot a single salvo of torpedoes without the bots weirdly turning and I know that the way they start turning isn't a coincidence
That's been an issue for a long time, and it used to make playing DDs at quiet hours rather difficult, because bots could spot you through smoke, magically dance around your torps, and have random ammo loadout, so you never knew when a BB was having the HE in. Now, there are Colombos out there...

Your videos are awesome! Do you have any guides using casemate secondary guns? The dispersion or accuracy seems so erratic. Thanks!
You can get the close quarters combat expert captain skill, that will help with dispersion, but you have to in turn not take demo expert, which is generally a pretty good skill to have on most BBs that aren't German. On German BBs, you can also get the secondary module in slot 1 which will help, too.
So I'd say it really depends on what you're sailing, and if it's worth taking the captain skill over demo expert.
Hey Terry, would you revisit the tier 6~7 French battleships, Normandie and Lyon?
I did find both decent in a way or another, especially Lyon.
Terry, when you torpedo a bot, turn off auto aim because when you do that, the bots think they are area denial torps and no try and matrix dodge them. This strat has about an 85% chance success rate at mid to point blank range.

Its a very good little destroyer.
Just like Gaede, the mid-tier German DDs are fun (so are the top tier ones, but people get better at dealing with them) 😂

Im just short of finishing Z46 grind.
I'ts much more reliant on good teams in higher tiers, since players make fewer mistakes.
Still like it a lot, and looking forward to finalen get me a Z52
I just don’t see the point for this when the black fushun was a recent reward in a similar event. That thing is the best t6 destroyer period.
FYI, turn ur auto aim off when trying to torp bots. Helps negate their magic abilities.
Oooh, that makes sense, I never thought of that! My guess was that the bots just have 100% torp visibility, and simply dodge when they "see" them coming, but could be that they get triggered by being targeted.
@@FunandGameswithTerry I find they are much more dodgy with auto aim on.
I also turn off auto aim when desiring better concealment against human players. If they have six sense running they will be notified if you lock onto them. The smart ones know how to use this.
Oh, one more thing, I think bot carriers are triggered to move by proximity rather than taking damage. The proximity seems to be ship dependent. This is why in certain situations it is better to shoot/launch torps at range rather than charging in.

1. Left side of screen in scrolling menu pull down to the very bottom where there is a sprocket symbol and select it.
2. Navigate to controls on the submenus at the top of the screen.
3.Find the button titled “auto lock” at bottom center of the screen.
4. Select “with button” in the menu next to the auto lock button.
5. This will add a button to your control screen in game which toggles auto aim on and off.
Funny thing is that the german DDs are the only ones in the game who can with skill hunt and take down cruisers😅😂 roles swapped
Certainly. I wouldn't be taking on a Makarov, let alone two, in anything else. It's not just the guns, it's the good combo with manoeuvrability as well.

My game failed to download while decompressing, what should i do?
I've heard that a couple of times reported since the last update. My general advice would be to make sure you have enough space on your device - the game uses about 4GB on mine after unpacking, so you should probably have at least that much free. If the update doesn't work, try doing a clean uninstall and reinstall, and if that doesn't help either, your best bet is going to be to contact support (see wowsblitz.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360012699840-I-am-stuck-on-the-loading-screen)
Alas, that has been an issue on a lot of devices lately (mine for almost a year now)
I haven't found a solution yet. (apart from copying the data directory from another device and do without most images)
