Im surprised people even question your fab work. You're always explaining how thing's are going to work, and they always do.
Never doubt that a master fabricator can marry a international bed to a Ford truck to a Chevy lift and make it work on the fly! Paul you are a master. and along with your brother Ben, the challenges Fab Rats sees on a daily basis will be met and conquered! Any company would love to have Fab Rats on their team! Thank you all for your sharing, thank you Michelle for your expert editing! I can hardly wait to see what comes next...
Paul never ceases to amaze at his off the cuff “ratgineering”! Nice job, that would be a fun/handy truck to have around. I was surprised how much weight it could dump.
“ratgineering” looool, THAT should be on some T shirts....
While I like ratgineering, I think Ratrofit is just a little better.
@@lylehuber1466 🤪
Grandma lolley is a saint always making sure her little boys are fed and even gives insight on projects but we do know who the favorite is he's just a little shorter than the other one of the best things about this channel is how its a family operation glad y'all work together an don't let BS get in the way
Don’t forget to add a safety bar so your cousin can have the safety feature that will save his life.
It appears any kit that comes into Paul's shop is a universal fit. His first step is always to throw out the instruction book!
Instructions are for Firestarters hahaha 😆
That's so true he is so handy at what he does
@@danielstevens3372 true he love to burn the instructions
And proceed to screw it up and take longer to figure out that he's doing it wrong then it would take to briefly read the instructions in the first place.
Well instructions for the wrong truck aren't going to be very useful!
I was screaming at the TV, "nooooo don't weld that!" Lol. The frame you had going forward actually goes underneath the lift to hold it up at rest. You put the lift in place and let the bed all the way down before connecting so the lift rests properly. Did a lot of these back in the day including a pto wet kit.
xactly! ...
@Jim Omega yup sorry. But now that I think about it not being a right angle, it would be Sines. Back in the day we just made chalk lines on the ground and measured it.
Just me or did they loose some of the lift height capabilities of it?
@@jeepscotsman6242 its possible if it was mounted too far forward.
Am I the only one with rusted wheel arches drooling at the condition of that pickup truck bed that they took off
Man my parents ran a greenhouse from 96 to about 2003ish I unloaded alot of manure with a shovel in the first couple years, and a dump bed in our old dually was a life changer. Not a bad idea to keep your local butcher happy. I bet it leads to a few tasty meals.
Combined with an ample supply of wood chips, those guts could make good compost
Your families continued ability to make me feel like I am just hanging out with my family and close friends with every video is unsurpassed. I feel at home every time I press play. Thanks to you and yours for this consistently amazing content.
Paul & Ben are the ultimate problem solvers!
I thought my family was the only ones that used Christmas vacation quotes year round. You guys are the gift that keeps on giving.. the whole year.....
Nice work Paul and Ben, as a safety tip, you can weld some sort of grille on the roll bar to prevent things from sliding into the rear cab window, just a suggestion. Great video keep up the good work God bless and stay safe
My son in law does same thing for the deer cooler, he bought a f 350 diesel I put a water tank on the head board and weirded a electric pump for rinsing, great video keep up the good work God bless from GA stay safe
We have a highway that runs through our town with three or four stop lights. We had an overloaded gut truck lose a bit of its load every time it took off from a stoplight. A little stomach here, a little intestine there, even a few skull bits. It was the crime of the century in our town, according to some of the easier offended.
Nice work Paul and Ben, that truck is going to get a lot of use for all kinds of things.
It's a winner! Making dump beds always looks so complicated to me. Good job. Good to see Papa Darr hanging with you!! I know he comes around often enough, but I just wanted to give him a shout out!!
"Dumping guts" is what I do halfway through my first cup of coffee in the morning.
What I’ve learned watching FabRats for a while is that you all pull old trucks out of the scrap yard less rusty than any two year old New England truck
What a joy to have a well equipped shop and outstanding assistants.
Heck yeah nothing like a good trade with the butcher! Most of them are a good friends to have!
I need you to make me a dump bed for my bedroom that dumps me out of bed when the alarm goes off. Great video as always!
It actually really looks like it was made for that truck. Great job guys. 😊
Papa Dar brought the whole story full circle about the history of the bed itself. To be sentimental, I see that as real local community legacy. Well done Paul!
Great job guys, definitely enough issues to have to work through, however like always you guys have it working awsome.
Thanks for fitting the whole project into one video!
Paul and Ben does it again making this dump bed for his buddy. Works great. Good to see Papa Dar and Grandma Lally bringing the boys lunch! Love this channel!
“ That’s an R V…..really nice! “
😂😂 One of my favorite movies!!
I wanna learn the "blink and sides are on" trick. That was just amazing. =)
Paul’s kit instructions, cut this , channel this , chop this , weld this , tie wrap those , add power , fluids, lights . Now she will work . Just as I pictured it . Thanks for the gut dump video :-)
YEE....
HAW....
I'd have to say,
That magnet light has been with you from the beginning and a very useful tool for sure,
It was one of my first episodes I watched and I'm glad every time I see you use it.
Really enjoy watching Paul and Ben work together. Great team!
The only thing it needs is some back up lights and maybe some work lights on the headache rack. Great work!!!
Good idea and reverse camera.
Also needs amber side marker lights on the rear.
amazing mixing of the non compatible parts to build a POWERFUL lift... success
Very interesting Adaption of Miss Match Parts ! Great Video. Thanks for sharing !
Good morning and happy Friday Fabrats!
It's been awhile since I've worked on a Fordolet. My dad put a Chevy 307 and automatic transmission in a Dodge van, and he liked the fuel mileage. That was a Dodgolet or a franken van.
Nostalgic for me.
Dad had a fleetside dump bed on a 70's C 10.
A Victory Gardeners old truck.
The look on people's faces when he had to tilt the bed to put gas in that beat up old truck is so memorable.
I'm sure you know what disbelief looks like on people's faces, it's priceless.
Yer custom fabricating is a true art-form... well done!
with the value of the dollar the Barter system is much preferred!
Should be a handy truck!
Nothing wrong with a meat wagon ... we all need steak and burgers!!!
I was hollering at my phone when you welded the scissor to the frame ... you must have finally heard me!
Thanks for sharing 🇨🇦
I am telling you Paul is one smart guy !! His fabrication skills are outstanding!!
15:15 into the video... PERFECT Christmas Vacation reference 👊👊...your pappy would be proud of everything you have become and continue to be..
Fun one to watch! I appreciated the part where Paul added the square tube support saying, "I don't want to die today." A well-known local heavy equipment operator died about ten years ago when the hydraulics on his dump truck failed while he was working under there. That was quite tragic.
After Paul's project was finished, I couldn't help but feel like there needed to be either fenders attached to the flatbed or some sort of protection built around the hydraulic pump and reservoir. It's looking awfully exposed under there!
Merci Paul&Family! Greetings from the Normandy.
WOW, I am impressed more and more with your imagination and ingenuity!
Hadn't heard you quote Cousin Eddie in a long while...happy you brought him back.
God Bless Grandma!
She looks after them boys.
Dump bed is very useful, build variety is not only entertaining but is informative. Very nicely done thanks.
So JD and Darr are the B team. You're in trouble. Lol God bless
I've never commented on CZcams before, but watching you install the dump ram wrong, actually hurt. Lol! Thanks for the entertainment.
@fabrats bro....i watch all your vids religiously. Constantly amazed by how talented you are. Not saying best I've ever seen type guy but damn close given the stuff your working with. Seem like a guy that if I lived close I'd be in garage working with you daily to cure boredom. Retired military so lots of time. I've got a old millermatic 220 I got wired in finally and about to see if she'll weld. If so great things ahead. Love the vids amd family. Thanks for sharing.
What the mind of a man can perceive, the minds of Paul and Ben can achieve!
I made a flatbed with side skirts and now I want to build me a dump bed. Cool project.
I can tell when Paul is working working and when he’s fun working. This is a working working video
The lack of rust on these Western trucks is amazing! This same truck kept outdoors in New Jersey would have dissolved in a pile of corrosion years ago.
Great job guy's mostly Paul Chevy parts work on any truck, thank's for sharing God bless ❤😉👍
Build rugged hinges and make a lock for front of body. I hauled 12' dia.x 36' fiberglass tanks out of Canada to Maine and New York, 12 of them.
Great‼️ Now I have the "Yellow Submarine" song stuck in my head.
Glendale Gut Wagon. Kinda has a ring to it.
I took a Ford flatbed and put it on a GMC. Welded the gooseneck to the bed. Used a single cylinder to lift the bed. Had a bad day and jacknifed it with a mini ex on it. I didn't bend anything. Works great
I converted my old yard truck to dump, I'm not sure if I can live without it that is one handy rig.
Loved this video format of a 'full build' fab in one video
Love the background music! And love the work on a Ford finally! :)
Paul & Company, you guys & ladies get the job done and done right.
Can't wait to watch the cheap truck challenge !
I think the night crew replacements just smelled Moms cooking 🥘 and came for leftovers 🤪
Oh, NICE JOB on the dump bed Guys 👍🇺🇸
And how does a Friday get any better Fab Rays video that’s how!!
woohoo. even better i just found of from this comment that it is friday. thanks man. i thought it was thursday. lol
Good job reworking it so it works.
Friends,
Yep I have wanted two things, which one stops the second or vise versa. Nice hydraulic unit! Super excited to see the suburban build, because I have a suburban too!
Real nice job .I'm sure he was happy with it .
Very nice thank you for sharing I have learned something from you. In the past I would carefully line all my brackets up cut them drill them Mount them and then put on the pump and install it. The way you do it is so much faster. You make a bracket and then you hold in place and weld it. Thank you. On another note when you started welding the part of the scissor onto the truck frame I yelled loud enough from that you should have heard me from Virginia saying No! NO! But LOL I guess my voice doesn't carry through distance and time. Thanks for sharing Bob from Virginia
Best project of the year. This is good content and should have been a longer video
Food for thought 🤔
Next time, instead of a cissor lift ram,,, use a telescopic cylinder in the front of the dump bed,,, thus leaving room to put the gooseneck hitch in the correct spot!! 👍👍
I had an 81 Chevy truck set-up this way worked like a charm👍
Really nice fabricobble job on the dump bed Paul. If I was your Nephew I think I would nickname this truck: "NO GUTS NO GORY". LOL
Nice job Fab Rats. The geometry on those dump beds ain't easy.
Love these one off projects like this. It's a "How To" as much as anything.
I installed a Pierce onto a 2015 F250 fro my father-in-law. The 'bolt-on' kit was not a bolt-on, by any means. Also, the Ford bed would flex badly (floor bulge) due to the POS aluminum construction of Ford. So we had to basically build a skeleton underneath the bed to support it. Otherwise, the pierce frame would've pushed right through the floor, first load it tried to lift.
The rear bumper was also iffy, from a safety standpoint, once the kit was installed.
I can see the wood truck getting a scissor upgrade
That shower of sparks raining down on the gas can at 17:45 made my heart stop. Holy smoke Paul, you are living on the edge. Oof.
Paul with an abundance of experience and sound logic which keeps him and others safe and pretty much ALWAYS WINNING!! Call me continuously or is it continually impressed LoL - either way just awesome!
8:04 Watching Fab Rats makes me so hungry! Every video 😂
I knew Paul and Ben would get that done. I would like to see his nephews reaction when he sees it and checks it out. Good job.
❤️👍👍🙏🙏🌟🌟❤️
Beautiful truck. Perfect. Enjoy it Coleman!
Great work Paul and Ben!
Trailer hitch (fifth wheel) - Heavy cross piece above ram that clears. Vertical side mounts down to heavy cross piece under the ram. Vertical heavy have welded pins that fall into the bottom vertical heavy notch. Rotating latch that connects the upper and lower heavy plates. Latch handle that locks the latch in open or closed position. Closed when hailing a fifth wheel. Open to use the dump bed.
When Paul says, "Real Nice, Clark." he is quoting a specific movie. But when I hear him say it, I am always reminded of another quote.
Who remembers and can name the movie, "That's Clark Nice."
I once jumped my '66 F100 and got some serious air. It had a 240 straight six with "three on the tree". :)
Thanks for sharing!
When you said stack some wood on it . Those are logs 🪵 😂😮💯
Between you guys and Matt i think the two of you are going to keep doing so many side jobs and projects that i'll never live long enough to see either one the two wreckers finished. Every time you turn around it's oh we're going to tinker on something else today instead of the things that a lot of us come here to see lol.
I think I'd put a small apron on the back of the bad if not his license tag and everything in between will be covered in blood and guts. IMHO lol. Love the vids great job as always.
Very nice job guys. Can't wait to see more videos soon. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friends. Fab On. Weld On. Keep making. God bless.
Paul you are so amazing! Your seat of the pants engineering seems to always work, with a few tweaks of course.
That truck looks good with that old flat bed on it
I'm stoked on this suburban build you speak of..
Very impressive, Rats!
That is so funny. I drove an f700 dump truck for years hauling the same exact thing. I had to build a drainable sump under the dump the dump bed could be drained before I left the plant and closed when on the road stop the drips while transporting.
Absolutely perfect job great going Paul and Ben .!!!
Most amazing thing on this build-you never hit your head on the bed going back and forth to fit and weld the ram (at least on camera).
You mention yellow submarine and it reminds me of my friend and fabricator Kevin Woods he built a wet sub around 1980 and ran it all around New Zealand. Great job on the dump bed
