One of my favorite things in a tune is when the bass hangs on a pedal tone to create tension. In the chorus, the guitar and piano switch from C to F, but Garry rides the C the whole time. It makes the return to the tonic so satisfying. It's not the sort of thing youd typically notice in a song, but if he made a different choice it would have made the chorus so much weaker.
