move ai is the one thing stopping me from dropping about 4k on a full body steam vr based mocap setup. you're 100% correct that the big question here is going to be pricing for the indie developer and hobbyist. while I can see how this tool will become a reality soon, I have some doubts about how long it might take and the pricing and hardware/server requirements involved with their real time product. for me I'm not going to be satisfied adopting a mocap setup that isnt real time + steam/open vr friendly but thats just me and my personal interest in a specific use case.

Yeah i mean think about it... you can drop like 4 grand on a rokoko or xsens or you can buy 4 gopro hero 8's for like 1200$. And at the end of the day a gopro is still a gopro, the rokoko can't do anything else. If this ends up being a relatively affordable subscription model it would still be preferable to Xsens insane annual licensing fees just to use the software for the mocap suit you already bought. If this actually works well... Lets hope they keep their prices low to give the mocap industry a run for its money.

@@Ben-rz9cf I'm ordering a set of 8 manus pro trackers, the strap system, battery charger and six spare batteries and I cant be talked out of it. I'll look into taking this base setup futher down the road with an xsens suit but only if I can make some money with this initial setup for it all to become justified. free streaming into unreal with manus polygon free is what is selling me on the price. yes I know vive trackers are cheaper but I'm paying the premium for manus pro trackers and the quality of life features.

That is insane. Completely game changer! The only gap from this to industrial production is prop tracking.

Not everyone is probably interested in this, but imagine sports training for technique like golf. You can be trained to put your arms and legs and head all in the right positions to match a pro golfer in real time. This is mind boggling!

@@Jsfilmz on another note, I've been down the Mocap rabbit hole for the past week trying to be more informed about available solutions...and let me tell you, nothing seems fair! most everything looks unsatisfactory, just frustrating all around!

Check out ipisoft, they did similar thing decade ago. They started with record RGB+depth from kinect for optical tracking (not kinect bones API, just images and depth). Then start using sony eye cam from PS3, results was better. Now they using gopro or any other cameras. It's not THAT accurate like here, but it already exist in standalone software version. Tracking not really automated and pretty slow (for old version at least) but works. This tool was even used in some movies for animating background croud characters.

Do the models need to skinned a certain way to let the deformations look as natural as it does with the capture or do they just do some alembic magic?

I love what they are doing but I dont think they realise what they are creating here.
How do you create a movement path for a robot to assemble an item? How do you make an AR safety procedure to shut down a process plant? How do you analyse traffic bottlenecks in real time? Want a better method of security than finger prints or facial recognition? Want to create a air traffic control system for un-regulated airspace?
All of these are possible with Move.AI I think they are actually creating a visual programming language and it is just up to peoples imagination how they will use it.
For example if the Iphone can be networked how long before governments utilise your crowd tracking visual data to monitor the bad guys? Replace those CCTV cameras with Iphones and you could do away with a lot of the justice administration...
I think sci-fi is about to become sci-real
